For those who don't know this song was inspired by the Toronto Airport VOR identifier which is KYYZ...Toronto Airport. Rush always flew through there as it was their home. Yes! Yes! Yes!
Graphics, puns, plot & cameos.
This video is a gift just like Spirit of Radio.
It's a damn good day to be a Rush fan!
Because we're here.
Forever rolling the bones with the 3 wise men of rock
🤘
Animation for their playing is exceedingly well done
Legitimately one of the very few instrumental only songs I will listen to over and over again and jam to just as hard as the first time I heard it.
Also, I love how this animation is literally just giving context to the album cover. It took me like a good 3 rewatches before I realized that 😂
Man rush are timeless. This song has helped me reach more destinations than I'd like to admit.
The visuals are perfect for the song
I was playing this video in my garage with the door open, and a 5 year old coasts up on his bike and says "We have this song."
I assume he's heard his dad play it in a playlist, maybe once.
Then the kid says "It's called YYZ."
Now I need to find out who in the neighborhood is out-parenting me!
it's one of the tracks on the Guitar Hero games
@@dave29339 Okay, that makes sense. It also means I might still be the best dad in the neighborhood.
@@dave29339 i highly doubt a 5 year old has played Guitar Hero 2, assuming theyre 5 in 2022, they were born in 2017. that game came out in 2006
@@davjags The parents would be playing it.
Awesome neighborhood!
This song is more than 40 years old, and it still sounds a lot better than any of the new 'music' being played on the radio today.
You do realise that that's exactly what someone older than you would have said about 'their' music, comparing it to Rush, and dismissing the latter? Also, I highly doubt you've heard ALL new music enough to say this is better than "any" of it.
Why not just enjoy the song instead of using it as a vehicle to shit on music you happen not to like even though others do?
mad mad
Haven't listened to this in years. The intro riff just popped in my head and I couldn't think of what song it was, I just new it was on guitar hero 2, I looked up the songs on gh2 and as soon as I saw yyz I said yyyaaassss
i am so obsessed with this song it’s CRAZY. i love it sm
This is a monumental moment in rush’s history.
18 when it came out. Rush came for 3 dates that spring/ summer. I went to all 3. Ive seen them 21 times ( on purpose) Best trio ever and best trio of individual talent at their instrument of choice. I'm a Rush diehard and didn't give Akex his flowers til 10 years ago. Geddys base is sic and Neil? Well, dudes a legend
@@kenka5943 I wish I could’ve been old enough to see them in their prime, but these guys fundamentally changed how I appreciate music, and for that Rush will always be my favorite band
Just when I thought the perfect idea for a yyz video wouldn't be possible, this showed up and blew me away
Love this, well done to all at Fantoons , loving the appearance of "The Bag" and even squealed when I heard Geddy and Alex at the end.
THE BAG is in this !!!!! Hahahaha that’s so good
I finally can remember all the lyrics to this song
WOW, I hope after this I can see music videos of Hemispheres
To a long time Rush fan, everything was there and it was great. This made me smile, thanks Ged & Alex!
Love it, only did a cover of YYZ a few weeks back and stuck it on youtube channel but no one watched it as not a patch on the real deal....been following Rush since 1980 and still not bored....
All right so give us the link so we can go see the video

damn man.....
this record is legend for a reason
even though it's not MY personal #1.... the utter JAMness cannot BE denied
Rush was so underated and so talented with awesome music like this gem
I'm American, but I flew out of YYZ for my first ever international trip several years ago. The entire time I was in the terminal I couldn't stop thinking about this song.
rush is the ultimate band
love it!! watched it in class and drummed on my desk the whole time LOL
This song never gets old.
We just ha "School of Rock " kids come and play at our venue. I asked their teacher if they knew any Rush...he said "of course.." They proceeded to blow everyone away with "YYZ" including the kid prodigy guitar player... The kids are alright - rock is in good hands...
The inside jokes for the hardcore fans are amazing. I especially loved when they put The Bag over Alex's head.
Please, explain this to me?
My God, listen to these absolutely amazing musicians. I've lost track of how many times I've seen them live, they're just as tight sounding live on stage, and always a Giant really entertaining production/stage show! 😎
Same 🙏 I missed seeing a lot of bands over the 80's, 90's, 2000's and beyond because I NEVER missed RUSH! When they came around it was a mandate!
Best Instrumental song ever!!! loving it. Awesome base line too
Nope
How anyone can listen to this song and not head bob, air guitar, or air drum at least a little is beyond me! Love it.
57, and was a teenager watching them do this in concert when it came out!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of my favourite songs to sing
The instruments alone had a lot to say lol
Amazing track, can't wait!
2:52 Anyone else start to tear up here? One of the most minimal but insane guitar solos of all time
No.
That's a synth
I'm pretty sure these are synthesizers, my friend. But yeah, there's a small section where the guitar doubles the synth melody, but it's definitely not a solo.
Every night run down the Don Valley and across the Gardiner I'll have this song cranked. Seems fitting and it just makes me smile.
Personally, I think this is a wonderful song to learn as a bassist and guitarist. Geddy comes up with amazing bass lines that captivate the listener. As a bassist I think this a perfect song to learn.
More animated vids to these Rush classics please!!!
