Yo! I have one very similar… needs repair, too. Finally found a talented clock smith. Amazing skills, but he’s so backed up, he can’t get to my clock for several months. Yours has some extra features mine doesn’t have, and it’s s little longer, maybe smaller face.. so I’m thinking a bit earlier. New subscriber! 👍
I have a Herschede Mantle Clock Model 708 that looks similar to the inside of this clock. The pendulum on my moms clock will only move to the right by hand and stops just a bit before it reached the bottom point of pendulum swing. It will not move at all to the left. It strikes on the hour and half hour. There is a metal piece that can be moved to prevent the clock from chiming. I was wondering if you may know why they pendulum will swing only part of the way. Thanks in advance. This was my grandmothers clock and my mother has dimensia and can not answer how to start the clock.
Hi Kevin, it sounds like your clock is extremely out of beat. The pendulum should swing equal distance to the right and left from center. You can try elevating the left side and see if it will start to run better to get an idea. Now this clock likely has a flat crutch with a friction adjustment. You should be able to remove the pendulum bob from it. Once you do gently push the pendulum hanger to the left and replace the pendulum and test again. Below is a great article to review to get a better understanding of what’s going on. I hope this helps! mb.nawcc.org/wiki/Encyclopedia-Subjects/Clock-Repair/Beat-Setting-101
@@ClockswithSeth Thanks! That was helpful. The hour hand was also out of sync with respect to the chime, but I found a RUclips video and just moved the hand forward until it was in sync with the hour while the minute hand was on the 12. I am assuming the chimes are completely controlled by the minute hand.
@@kevin-gf5uz That’s great! The hour hand is only a friction fit so it’s easy to adjust. That’s right, the minute hand is directly linked. If your chime/strike sequence is ever off the minute hand can be removed and placed back on at a different angle to correct this.
I am hoping you can help me with my Junghans mantle clock, it no longer ticks. Here is the link to show you what it looked like when I bought it. There is a plastic cover over the "ticking mechanism" I am assuming this was not original but it used to work and now it doesn't. ruclips.net/video/M3vl2vFgymE/видео.html
Hello, the plastic cover keeps dust off of the balance wheel. If the time spring is wound and clock not running remove the plastic cover and very gently move the balance slightly to the left and right to see if it will start. Normally they oscillate 180 degrees to the left and right. If it doesn’t run the movement needs serviced.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm glad you found a good clockmaker. Sadly they are a dying breed. I hope he can get to yours soon so you can enjoy it!
Cool. I have a 50s welby brand mantel clock with the same style of dial bezel and hands
That's awesome! I love this style of hands.

You might also move the timekeeping lever under the balance wheel to its fastest setting to see if that helps.
