Hi Cara. It is an amazing area, and full of history! Shame we couldn't show you a bit more of the hill fort, though. We could see some signs of covers up on top, so they may be doing an archaeological dig? All the best & catch you soon👍😊
Cheers Karl! I reckon it would have been really difficult to attack in the days of primitive weapons. As it's overlooked from above, things may have changed once they got a bit more sophisticated! 😁 Hope you're keeping well👍 Catch you soon!
What a beautiful place, the town was so quaint, the countryside reminded me a little of the western US. Very cool to see the views and rock formations out there. And there's nothing better than a rewarding refreshment in the end, good looking beers
Hi Nicole. Yes, the rock is very soft shale or some type of mudstone, and it gets carved into some great formations by the weather. It also washes the trails away, so very easy to get lost like we did! 😁 Many thanks for watching! Much appreciated👍
Really enjoyed you walk around town with the fountain, narrow streets and walking paths and interesting stucco architecture. The countryside hike was gorgeous. The music you selected fit perfectly with the location. Glad you found your way. The terrain looks difficult with the steep incline and the hot temperatures.
Hi Bill & DeAnna! There are hundreds of these little white villages dotted through the mountains. They really are beautiful to explore! Only a short hike, but quite steep and tough in the heat. Luckily I didn't get us too lost! 😂 Best wishes & catch you soon!👍😊
Hi Steve. It was beautiful! Nice and warm, but not too hot for walking. Spring and Autumn are my favourite times over there. Cheers for watching & catch you soon👍
Wow this is nice to watch Des (hot dry and beautiful) Some great walks in that area I bet this being one 👍 Nice cooling beer to round of a fab hike Best to you and Maria 🙏🏼😊 Regards Simon 🙏🏼😊
Hi Simon. It did get a bit warm down there, as it was sheltered from any breeze. The cross country pathfinding helped work up a sweat too! 😂 That cold beer was most welcome! All the best to yourself & family👍😊
Hi Des, that was a great hike buddy 😊 nice to see your back in Spain too 😊 that hill fort was great to see 😊 The Romans often reused areas that were already established 😊 great video guys
Hi Stephen! It is a fascinating fort. Its natural decences would have been excellent in prehistoric times. But I've often wondered how that would have changed over time as weapons became more sophisticated (with it being overlooked from the surrounding slopes). Hope you are keeping well! Many thanks for watching👍😊
Evening Des, Maria, we are out of office, out of WiFi and nearly out of data, pick this little gem up when we get home 🏡 hope you are both good and well, Ceri and Kat ☕️ ❤️ 😀 👍
Hi Terry! Yes, would be interesting to see what they turn up. There were about three areas sheeted over, that we could see from above, so it dig look like it might be a dig. Cheers for watching👍👍
Hello, Maria and Des, my friends! Wow, Spain!! Sure it must have been quite tiring, even in the heat, but absolutely worth it, right? Particular landscapes, wild, rocky, very fascinating. Truly a lovely trail and an experience to do. Hugs and have a great day and rest of the week! Renata
Hi Renata! Not a long hike, but quite an effort in the heat....especially if you lose the path like we did! 😁 A very enjoyable place to walk though, and Yegen is a charming little village to start and finish in. Best wishes & catch you soon!👍😊
Wonderful to see you're back in Spain! It looks like a refreshing change, if not a bit warm! Nice to hike along with you... too bad the way to the old fort was locked... interesting that they're doing some archaeology there! 👍👍
Hi Jennifer! It was great to be back there, and we had some fantastic walks. Some of them, I didn't even manage to get us lost! 😂 It was a shame we couldn't get up onto the fort, but it will be interesting to see what they find if they are doing a dig! All the best & catch you soon👍😊
Hi Des this was a beautiful place, I wouldn't mind losing my way there ! Love the house style and the weather. Shame that you couldnt get to the Iron age fort but interesting to hear that its been there so long and in a great location and we could see the mound from a distance where you pointed it out. That this look a warm day. Great video 👍 ~ Anna
Hi Anna! It is a lovely walk, but a shame we couldn't get up to the fort. Hopefully if they are doing a dig it will turn up some interesting finds! Many thanks for watching! Hwyl👍😊
A reall cool area to explore des - I mean not cool as in cool because you guys had a sweat on. But the fort from a distance looked good. Shame it was closed of. Well, you sussed it out in the end after missing the way-markers. Great adventure. Mark
Hi Mark. Was really warm down there as it was sheltered from any breeze. Hopefully the fort opens again once they are finished there. They might even be doing some sort of dig? Cheere for watching! All the best 👍
Hi Dan! Yes, we were but back to overcast skies and rain in the UK now 😁 It was great to get a few sunny hikes in though! All the best & catch you soon👍👍
Nice one Des. Looked a rather hot one and didn’t help with the extra bit😃😃😃 Such a stunning area and the hillfort is amazing. Shame they closed it temporarily Beer looked good at the end - but didn’t look like a standard European beer. Looks like you had a great time again out there.
Hi Dave. It was a warm one, and we did end up bushwhacking a section 😰 Those paths get washed out a lot, as it's very loose shale (that's my excuse anyway! 😁) I think the beer was Estrella or something...was ready for a proper pint when we got back to Blighty! 👍😁
You two live the life, eh? Having read "South from Granada" (Cambridge University Press), and remembering the scenery he very eloquently narrated, it was interesting to see the house where Brenan had actually lived and written - a far cry from his escape after the horrors of WWI. Sorry about the Fortaleza, as the saying goes in old Castille, "don't look for a reason, just remember where you are!" Was that 20,000 euros for the fort's renovation, or 200,000? A.t.b
The village still seems very proud of Brenan. I've never actually got round to reading South From Granada, I must do at some point! I think it was 20k investment in the fortress. Somebody I spoke to afterwards suggested they may be doing an archaeological dig, rather than restoration work. Would be interesting to know what they find! Many thanks for watching👍

Hi Chris. It was beautiful weather over there, but don't worry, we made it back home in time to catch the rain and cold! 😂

Hi Bruce & Otis! Could use some of that too, now we're back in the UK! 😁 Very overcast and wet here today! All the best & take care👍😊
That fort would have been a great vantage point!
Lovely little meander Des 👍😊
