No one talks about this but I've actually had 2 motorcraft fuel filters that were no good that didn't allow the fuel to flow that well and I got a low fuel pressure. Maybe that's what's causing some of these CP4 problems.. I checked, and it looks really good. I just make sure that I do my fuel filter changes quite often, probably about oil change. A hundred and sixty thousand miles and looks good.
Wow! Just stumbled upon this looking at the SS disaster prevention kit; video released only hours ago. Got my email on the list and am interested. Thought the price was kind of high, but looked up a new CP4... which is around $1K new; not remanned. Of course, the argument to be made is it's a lot cheaper than a $10K new fuel system, right? Annnnd, it's not just the parts, it's a lot of labor and downtime. So I hope this new pump is what they say it is as having a CP4 without a kit does make me a bit nervous. Have heard about class action lawsuits about that CP4; but if my pump grenades tomorrow, I need my truck back to make a living; not sit on a phone to a law firm hoping I can get some compensation months down the road! Was wondering why they just don't throw a CP3 in, but that was addressed in the video... No room!!
i did mine at home as well my truck had 180,000. Also, if you used injector direct by chance be sure to monitor the injectors. I had two bad ones that came from them. They def took care of the issue superfast tho!
I have the latest disaster kit. My question is if we purchase this pump can we give away our disaster kit to someone else? I wouldn't want it to become a paper weight.
if you want to play with some numbers, based on my research I have been doing off-and-on for about 2 years: (a low percentage of fail is 1.6 and the highest is 7), so if Ford puts out 300k (middle-to-low number) engines with cp4 pumps, and 7% fail, that is 21,000 owners screwed. That is a big number, but 7% is less scary. Make certain that from fuel tank #1, for those of us outside of Europe, a quality fuel lubricant is added to every tank. Somewhere around 50,000-ish miles to 75,000-ish miles I would get this pump, and earlier if the budget allows, as added protection. The majority of failures happen shortly after 100,000 miles, with "a few " (relative to 21,000 that is used in my example) before the 100k mark. SS Diesel pump is fantastic. Throughbred Diesel has a lot of great stuff for your truck, but for my personal knowledge, I am still skeptical of FASS as I have not done enough "homework" on them.
Wade, does Throughbred Diesel install pumps or just sells them? You guys are about 6.5 hours from me. I’ll buy the DCR from you guys if you do the install.
Just a huge waste of money. They market this towards everyday grocery getters that don't know how to maintain their trucks. Shocking how many fools are falling for this gimmick.
@@thoroughbreddiesel As I understand it, most CP4 pumps don’t fail when using uncontaminated fuel with good lubricity, so when doing a redesign it’s not enough to show that a sample of the new pumps also don’t fail when using good fuel. To truly demonstrate an improvement you need to show that a contamination level that will cause, let’s say, 50% of a sample of CP4 pumps to fail in 48 hours, will not cause any of the redesigned pumps to fail when testing more of them for longer periods of time. It’s a standard way to verify a new design, and is easily done on a test bench.

I think Ford created millions of problems. A lot of people have put a lot of money out of their pockets. I think there should be a lawsuit against Ford for faulty equipment. They sold faulty equipment.
Technically, it can if you dealership decides to be a bunch of pricks. The Magnusson Act protects you from your warranty being voided by a product that has nothing to do with your failure, IE saying the DCR pump caused your transmission failure.
Time for FORD to get onboard and install these for NOTHING!!!
Just wanted to say, well done S. & S. DIESEL!!!

Yes
What's the difference between this DCR and the RCD CP4.2 10 mm. ??

The challenge I am having is finding a really sharp diesel tech to properly install the DCR. I am in North Carolina.
Pretty simple install
If you already have their disaster prevention kit, is this necessary? Could I just keep the CP4 until it dies?
Yes, you could just keep it till the CP4 dies, but at what cost? Does that leave you stranded on the highway, or somewhere on vacation.
@@thoroughbreddiesel it leaves my bank account with enough to pay my bills until then lol.
I got a 21 with 330k just went down. Yes FORD should fix these for free. Spend 100k on a truck then it not last no time.
Can't wait till they are available money well spent.
My 2020 is out of warranty and my CP4 came apart. Paying cash for a new system with disaster kit. 70k miles...
Which kit?
Stanadyne rates the DCR for up to 450hp.
Great video. I recently installed a disaster kit on my 2011 but would consider this pump for sure.
Thanks!

Im tryn to find the Answer to this question
@@ericrego6743 I have the answer. Yes. You could pass it down. As long as it was handled correctly and installed with care.
So u have to Uninstall to put the new pump in there isnt a way to leave it on to filter the return side and block off the feed to the metering valve
When will it be ready to ship to California?
Very soon!
Dumb question, should I be worried about my fuel pump on my 23’? Kinda new to the diesel world.
Just worry about what bad fuel and low fuel pressure can do to your pump.

Will they make a stoker pump with these?
What if someone is running full aftermarket power upgrades ( spe emperor turbo kit ) what can be do to make the pump work?
Do not have experience with that conversion but if it doesn’t disturb the stock CP4 lines, you will be fine.
@@thoroughbreddiesel the reason I ask is because the s.p.e. emperor turbo kit uses the cp4 pump with a 50 % over (the emperor kit can make 800 hp )

Does the return filter kit still work with the DCR pump?
You can leave the filter on with the DCR, and it will further filter return fuel to the tank.

We have the cp3 conversions for the LML trucks.
