- Glittering World presents the story of Navajo jewelry through the lens of the gifted Yazzie family of Gallup, New Mexico-one of the most celebrated jewelry making families of our time. The silver, gold, and stone inlay work of Lee Yazzie and his younger brother, Raymond, has won every major award in the field. The exhibition-featuring almost 300 examples of contemporary jewelry made by several members of the Yazzie family, opens November 13, 2014, at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian in New York, the George Gustav Heye Center, located in the U.S. Custom House near Battery Park.

That attitude - acknowledging mistakes, constantly learning, always humble - is what leads to true mastery. Quite different than what people expect.
The Yazzie's are highly respected artists. The beauty of their work reflects their inner beauty as well.
Wow, amazing workmanship. Beautiful.
Unbelievable talent from hard work, humble, insightful, amazing.
Perfect combination of art and craft! I know these men and women are humble, but my God.....you're master's in every definition of the word! Those pieces were absolutely astounding, beautiful and though of this world...otherworldly.
These men are well beyond mere masters, they are both artisans and craftsmen of the highest order. My wife has a number of pieces of Navajo jewelry. It is so beautiful, it could almost make you cry.
Some of the best I have ever seen in New Mexico - or anywhere in the Southwest. There are many talented jewelry-makers in the area, but the Yazzie family is extraordinary. The time spent on each piece in designing it - the attention to detail - choice of stones all make Yazzie family jewelry one of the best available choices!
The Yazzie family jewelry is exquisite and extraordinary. In design and execution it is worldclass.
I am very happy to finally see an image of Lee Yazzi in this video . I have a matching belt buckle and bolo by Mr. Yazzi, signed with his mark, similar to the belt buckle shown here at time 1:12, that I purchased at Grand Canyon in 1988. They represent his work as a younger man, but they are just as lovely as all of his work since.
I grew up in northwestern New Mexico, in Shiprock, surrounded by excellent silversmiths. My connection with this work is organic, and part of my soul.
In this day of age I think restarting my late step dad's work would help in these times.
What intelligence of this creator of art. Great wisdom!!! Continue being blessed
