Hi tosue. Yes... when giants walked the earth. There's an 18 minute "East West" on that tape that I mucked up and will post later. This may be the show that Chet Helms and John Carpenter visited Graham over, saying "You went behind our back, Bill and brought Butterfield back without telling us". To which Graham reportedly replied, " Listen Chet, if you want to be in this business - IT'S THE EARLY BIRD THAT CATCHES THE WORM!" Chet hated the story. Great story anyway.
@@NonDirectionalFilms I love reading books and interviews dealing with that fantastic time in and around San Francisco. Bill Graham is particularly interesting but it's all good. I have mentioned wishing I were born earlier so I could have seen and heard these bands when they were giants. Folks who were there seem to still have very find memories.
The world decided to exit that period and found we'd pretty much come through a one way door. And since then, many more one way doors. It wasn't a perfect time but today can't compare to it's individuality and freedoms. But again it might. Have a great day.
@@jensandersen7011 I agree. Chet couldn't have been more inclusive or a more decent human being to anybody. That Family Dog would turn a blind eye to a percentage of people coming into their shows for free and the Graham Camp trying to collect every last dime makes the story so much funnier. After all, it was Chet who was friends with PBBB and went to Bill for the first show because he was renting a bigger place and more people could attend. Bill didn't know PBBB from Pabst Blue Ribbon but he called New York early the next morning after the show to book them back without telling Chet. I'd have been miffed too. Chet was a community minded, fair handed man. Bill was, well... Bill Graham.

Looking at that poster - what a great show that must have been.
