Beautiful guitar, these reissue Frontier's are stunning and you play it well.

Thank you! There is a sound sample video on my channel where the audio is much better...but yes these reissues (except for the Texan) have been very surprising!

Congrats! - Would love to see you do a comparison video sometime between this one and your Excellente...

Epiphone is doing some exciting things. I think they are leading the way with new and exciting guitars. This model is no different in that it is an incredible instrument. I recently purchased an excellente and it is awesome. It continues to improve with age and use. The differences and noticeable and for the better. TY MH

So which one do you prefer? Frontier or excellente?

Hard to say....I think the Excellente....but the Frontier has really nice tight and snappy tone.

@@stevebernard221 i love mine excellente too! And I think that overall its better than my Gibson sj 200. Cannot explain the price difference

Think we would hear the tone more clearly with better miking.

@@tomformanek3312 I agree....but only using a smart phone. I have a rode mic, but can't seem to get much sense out of it.

Depends what you like. The Excellente has solid ovenkol back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top. Ovenkol intonation wise is between Rosewood and Maple.
The Frontier is solid maple back & sides with a solid Sitka spruce top. Intonation wise maple will be warmer than the ovenkol, but not as warm as mahogany. They both have a 25"+ scale. I think the Frontier is just a hair longer.
Someone on RUclips did a comparison of the 2. I thought it was pretty informative and would suggest it. Of course the best is to be able to play the 2.
I have a FGX5 that I like a lot, (mahogany back & sides and spruce top). Either of these 2 guitars would fit well for me. At this point I do prefer the maple.
