The psychology behind this kind of toxic parenting usually stems from another form of toxic parenting that they’ve experienced growing up. Neglect or favoritism. Basically, the child doesn’t receive the proper love or attention from their parents. So when they have a child, they don’t want their children to ever go through what they’ve been through growing up, so they overcompensate and spoil their kid rotten. All just to prove to the child how much they’re loved. A perfect example of this, (outside of Liane Cartman, of course) is Petunia Dursley from Harry Potter.
@@TequilaMockingBird91you know that makes sense. But she was actually the favorite kid growing up, spoiled in her behavior and with things, but when it came to emotional needs I don't think they were properly met, being raised mainly by her strict grandma, in a traditional catholic household when her parents always worked. The sad part is that Liane is the only person who loves Cartman unconditionally and does what she can to help move them both forward and yet he is still so horrible to her no different than anyone else He deserves to become a homeless bum
Being a sweet and kind mother all the time and letting your kids constantly walk all over you doesn't make you a good mother/parent. Yes kid's need love and affection. But they also need strict and assertive discipline. Constantly giving your kids what they want and showering them with hugs and kisses spoils them. And if they grow up spoiled as spoiled children then they will grow up onto spoiled adults. In a way of speaking they will stay as children. Not physically but mentally.
My mom was super strict with me and blamed my autistic nature on that so she swiveled 180 degrees with my younger siblings who is spoiled to the point where they fucking CRAVE structure and discipline. Had to step in as a parent and no one batted an eye when the someone finally showing up to family meetings was a sister
totally agree, but hugs and kisses arent a bad thing to shower your kid with. its complying to their every command, its allowing them to be selfish and manipulative, and letting them drain your energy in a sense that isnt from need, but wants. (ex: cartman waking his mom up at like 4 am to buy a psp. not like.. needing food to survive) anyway, real, but affection is necessary
There are some facts that indicate that cartman was a victim of abuse as a kid, i remember when he started as the coon he was trying to prevent a "raping", in the episode where he had to take care of an egg he gets scared when mr garrison hold him. Actually he gets nerveous several times around male adults... That and his obvious DID make me think he was actually abused by one of the guys liane brought home when he was younger
Based and true, though I have personal hc it was one of relative since we never see Diane's family again so its possible that CSA (child s assault, r/pe of a minor basically just in case) could of occurred from older family member. But also a potential Diane partner (either one night or multiple nights) doing it too. Or even both. But I feel like DID doesn't suit him, it fits Butters more so imo. DID diagnostic criteria as listed by the DSM V says it has be constant almost ritualistic extreme abuse (sexual, physical, emotional) between ages of young as 3 to old as 9 (some cases 10 iirc), theres def some dissociation but I dont think it fits the full DID label, maybe Partial at best. Something along the lines of defiant, some trauma (unsure if its enough to be consider c-ptsd atm), delusions (tho some delusions fo happen to be able to interact with the rest of the cast so I guess it just depends on plot revelence), and Sociopathy it seems. All neat headcanons overall
if im not wrong in the fun with veal episode where Stan, kyle and butters were trying to break into the farm to save the lambs they went to cartmans house at night to ask him to join them and use his mission impossible toy set to do so, while they were outside his window cartman was saying “uncle Jessie no no!” while being asleep … so it might be CSA from his family side
She did deserved it for not disciplining Cartman. She spoiled him so badly that he was a terrible human being. She undid Cesar Millan's teachings all because she's very lonely. After so much terrible things her son did to her earlier, she did nothing but enabling him. When Cartman got his mom to quit her job and lost the house, then she finally had enough. Liane should have saw the warning signs a lot earlier, but she failed miserably. Even if she did change, but the damaged was already been done. The only way she would truly reformed if she became a parent and made her son a better person and remember using Cesar's teachings and stop spoiling her son again.
As a Native American man, myself, I would just like to commend her for being able to pronounce his last name properly, and not struggling over. If it's one or two words, or not, every time I tell someone my last name, I spend at least a minute and a half explaining that it's two words, because they like to assume that each part of it is my last name trying to figure out how it's pronounced.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with making jokes about someone who has a lot of sex. As long as they aren’t done in mean spirit. The people complaining about this were most likely doing it in bad faith, because everyone is super sensitive about every little thing. Always remember, that you can joke about anything, but it all depends on how you construct the joke.
I literally make fun of myself for my past promiscuous lifestyle it's funny as all hell to me. And I wanna say, Matt and Trey put it best, if you can't make fun of everyone, you can't make fun of anyone. Unless you're intentionally being mean, or ignore someone after telling you that your jokes upset them genuinely, you're fine
@@octaviamelody1997 Exactly. Unfortunately in todays world where people are politically correct to the point of absolute absurdity, oftentimes free speech is completely eradicated. A little message to all the snowflakes who are afraid of words: There is no such thing as a bad word. Words are just words. It’s the intention of the person saying or writing them that you have to take into account. Sex (check your pants and you’ll see you didn’t start oozing green puss just cause you read that word; and also the reason they force people to bleep it out on RUclips is probably because the RUclips moderators are all a bunch of virgin nerds who couldn’t get ass if their lives depended on it) Drugs (if any of you decided to turn to a life of meth fueled debauchery just cause you read that word I’m sorry but you were probably very weak willed anyway). Rape and sexual assault (yes it’s a horrible thing and my heart goes out to anyone who’s experienced either of them, however by refusing to use the actual words, and instead using some abbreviation like S.A, we are disrespecting the experience of survivors by saying that it’s more important to make sensitive people feel comfortable, instead of acknowledging that it is something that happens). For something related to that last one, I encourage people to look up George Carlin’s take on PTSD. It used to be called Shell Shock, but because people got more and more afraid of honest language over the years it eventually became PTSD. He explains it better than I can. I would be here all day if I tried to go through all the words that we’re told are always bad. So just keep this in mind: Words are only bad if your intentions are bad. If you use a word that’s traditionally thought of as negative, just be sure you’re using it to make some sort of point. Using a word simply for shock value is bad. Using it to make a point, can be good. I have a feeling you totally get all this Ms. Melody, but I just thought I’d use this opportunity to educate themselves with smaller IQs. Also I don’t have a RUclips page, so I can say the RUclips staff are probably all perpetually dry geek-wads all I want. Now to check if you’re an MLP fan based on your screen-name. Liane basically represents both being a good parent and an awful one at the same time. It's pretty sweet seeing her develop a backbone in the later seasons.
I always felt weird about the difference between first seasons liane and later seasons. She would even smack him in the early seasons like in that episodes father maxi scared them into staying in the church school
A weird amount of parents think absolutely nothing of slapping around smaller kids. My mom was a big spankings parents (I don't agree with it) but would badmouth ppl who did the same to their seemingly kindergarten+ kids
Emotional incest doesn't have a weird name. It's just what this is. And it's not about truly treating children as friends (though my dad claimed we were friends often) but as "partners" they can fully control. If you have a parent like that, just look at how they treat you and respond like you would with a friend - suddenly these people demand parental respect. It's child abuse, plain and simple.
17:10 imagine getting called in the midlle of dinner and a woman says "apparently your son has a picture of my son giving a bj" and the face at 17:16 is every single person if someone told them that
To the point of "emotional incest" In my community we refer to it more commonly as son-husband syndrome And it's pretty much the same thing. The slight variation however is that a single and emotionally dependent mother displaying attributes of son husband syndrome, as the name states, treats her son like a husband, doting to his every need of desire, rather than a friend which is more reserved for daughters. Some mothers will even describe their sons in the way they would describe grown men, instead of saying something along the lines of "I have a handsome young boy" they'll say something like "My son is fine as hell" with " fine " being a euphemism for attractive, which to a king observer would be her implying sexual attraction to her son. In both cases, This can lead to toxic relationships, and stunted development among young boys who become total mama's boys, and are unable to properly date because the mother has a attraction to her son that has not registered in her brain as as sexual attraction and will dissuade him from dating or even attempt to drive away any woman that he invites into his life which may result in poor interpersonal skills between him and women
I've noticed those relationships can go 2 ways like you said the mother caters to the sons every demand or the mother pushes most of the family duties and responsibilities onto the son , there's lots of stories of boys having to go to work in a single mother home or have them raise their siblings, instead of being a child they are treated like an actual husband who has to work and pay the bills
That would be nice, but I'm pretty sure no man in existence would put up with being a father figure to Cartman (not even his own biological dad wanted to step up).
If the games are canon, she's on surprisingly good terms with the Dovahkiin. Granted, he's also another kid, but far as my memory goes, we do nothing but help her when prompted to.
as a single child from a stand alone mom i have to agree with your final verdict. no i'm not exactly cartman level, and my mom did not spoil me to a T, but you have to consider what loneliness and raising a child does to someone. it's very easy to give in when you're the only provider AND the only parent AND the only help you have around the house. i just don't think the fault all lies on liane, sometimes life is just unfair. nobody deserves the kind of abuse cartman dishes out tbh
@@KittyMonk That would be so awesome and it gave me a spark of inspiration. I've been obsessed with mars since I was like 9 and Opportunity's final coordinance sounds like a cool idea 💡
@@KittyMonk wait wasn’t Lianne anti semtic and racist as well. I mean it is true that the reason that Cartman hates Jewish people and African Americans is because he is jealous that Kyle and Token have a father when he doesn’t but initially in the earlier seasons he implies that he learned those hateful things from his mother. After all she had no problem with Cartman wearing a Adolf Hitler costume and she said offensive things towards Lesbians.
I love both of your channels, even with all the differences in style of narration and editing I come to both for the exact same reasons. I loved this collab! Here is hoping for more collabs between the two of you.
"even he wouldn't do sick things to children" I'm pretty sure he was caught by the police during a pedo bust and then gets fired from teaching for a while on the ep where cartman try's to make mature friends lol
In a later episode, Principal Victoria said that Garrison was fired for "being gay". That wasn't true at all. He was fired for trying to hook up with young boys online. And that makes you think. Was it a simple retcon/continuity error, or was Principal Victoria using it as a cover story for her re-hiring a fucking paedophile?! She'd rather be perceived as homophobic and have a paedophile teacher in her school.
At the end of the day, the way she parents especially in the earlier seasons show how much she turned cartman into who he is today. the ending of tsst showed that as well. it is good that she is learning but she is at fault for cartman as well.
Just to remind people that Lianne Cartman is totally fine for mocking disabled people, and going on Springer, but buying him an iPad is one step too far beyond.
Liane is often hinted at for being a bigot in the show, so that is not surprising. She straight up made a Hitler costume and took him to watch "The Passion"
Honestly I do hope that Liane does start standing her ground more, and if you think about it, it could lead to a potential development for Eric. Will it happen? It’s hard to say, but I certainly hope so.
I love seeing Lianne growing a back bone and standing up to Cartman! I kinda want to see her pop him like that one time Kyle did and he started crying. I also like seeing Cartman being a mama's boy
Which is why he becomes homeless in the future. He couldn't handle his job at the ice cream shop, while Butters did all the work, which leads to him eventually becoming manager of Denny's-Applebee's Max.
It's shit parenting that makes him and all those other "out of control" kids to begin with. And frankly I'm not sure the parents who caused the damage could actually fix it a lot of times. Those kids usually need to be adopted by people who do understand and can help unpack the trauma for any real hope of rehabilitation. But the foster and adoption system pretty much suck for ensuring parents have any qualifications beyond money (and typically a superiority attitude on which they expect kids to be ultra grateful and stroke their ego or they pile on more threats of abandonment and guilt trips and abuses of various types). The whole thing is a mess. And it's not the kids fault for being put into that situation. It never is while they're kids
I think my Symbolic Logic professor is intersex. She has an intersex flag pin on her bag. Also the other day she wore earrings where one was shaped like the male symbols and the other like the female symbol. She dresses androgynously and although she passes for female and has a female name she says we can use whatever pronouns for her that we want.
I doubt they will ever fully reform her. I mean if that happened we'd get a Cartman like at the end of Tsst and I really don't see the fans accepting that. I mean the Cartman we all love is the self absorbed evil one.
I wonder what trauma Liane went through for her to do what she did in terms of drugs and prostitution since she was raised by eight Cartmans after all, then herself raised Eric, and then she snapped after years of doing what he wanted to keep the peace or was oblivious
It’s nice that you get something on the east coast. Ok… This is exactly what I’ve been waiting for!!! I’m subbed to both Kitty Monk and Blooms and they were my first mostly dedicated South Park channels I discovered after deciding to look into this insane cartoon, and to maybe help ease myself into watching an actual episode, although I’m still a bit hesitant personally, so I may just go the Dead Meat route and enjoy the show through you guys, as it will be a while before I consider watching South Park. But I am still intrigued by the show and it’s lore, both in universe, and production wise! That’s why I like watching you guys: because you both really help me to enjoy, appreciate, and understand the series without having to experience every single over the top inappropriate thing in the show! Also, you two are just plain cool in general!!! Thank you Kitty Monk and Blooms!!!💖👍
Even though Liane is practically the main reason why Cartman is the way he is, she’s finally taking accountability and responsibility for her action and for Cartman. Too bad Cartman fucked everything up for her because she wanted to get a job.
You know watching this I realise that Liane's pretty much the only female South Park Character that didn't have a shift in focus after Mary Kay Bergman died, there's not many others you could make a video on with this in depth an analysis of how they were in the different era's of the show.
I actually think Liane would do a good story if she started dating Clyde’s dad Roger as they would provide a good balance for each other. Her being motherly to Clyde and Roger being a strict but loving dad. Plus Roger seems to be able to be friendly with the other adults and it may help her being a better parent.
Before I watch this, I'd like to remind myself the difference between reform and redeem. When a character reforms, they switch sides, but are essentially the same character. When a character redeems, they do something that proves they are better than who they used to be.
I'd of the episode where Cartmen became Ginger came out before 200 and 201 but I like how in that moment of hesitation after Cartmen says she'll love him no matter what she's not afraid of what he's become but scared that the secret she and the rest of the town were hiding unraveled by just a hair

Those are some very interesting observations
OR that he finally realized what the hose he sucked on to get seamen from really was.
I think it came from NAMBLA
if im not wrong in the fun with veal episode where Stan, kyle and butters were trying to break into the farm to save the lambs they went to cartmans house at night to ask him to join them and use his mission impossible toy set to do so, while they were outside his window cartman was saying “uncle Jessie no no!” while being asleep … so it might be CSA from his family side
If it's two words, it's not a last name, it's a middle name and a last name.

A little message to all the snowflakes who are afraid of words:
There is no such thing as a bad word. Words are just words. It’s the intention of the person saying or writing them that you have to take into account.
Sex (check your pants and you’ll see you didn’t start oozing green puss just cause you read that word; and also the reason they force people to bleep it out on RUclips is probably because the RUclips moderators are all a bunch of virgin nerds who couldn’t get ass if their lives depended on it)
Drugs (if any of you decided to turn to a life of meth fueled debauchery just cause you read that word I’m sorry but you were probably very weak willed anyway).
So just keep this in mind:
Words are only bad if your intentions are bad.

Except Trey literally created her to mock and put down his ex because he's bitter. That's messed up.
Liane is stuck in a Hell of her own making.
What is this, a crossover episode?!?! I didn't think I could be even happier when clicking on one of your videos but you made it happen!
17:10 imagine getting called in the midlle of dinner and a woman says "apparently your son has a picture of my son giving a bj"
and the face at 17:16 is every single person if someone told them that
To the point of "emotional incest" In my community we refer to it more commonly as son-husband syndrome And it's pretty much the same thing.
Two other mother characters I think are worth looking into are Rita Loud and Maria Santiago
Ew loud house fan
***practically chokes on own laughter if possible to do so*** 4:24 oh also the fact that not one person shown raised their hand is even more comedic
I would love to see Leanne get a boyfriend so she's less lonely and doesn't have to rely on her sons friendship.
That would be nice, but I'm pretty sure no man in existence would put up with being a father figure to Cartman (not even his own biological dad wanted to step up).

as a single child from a stand alone mom i have to agree with your final verdict. no i'm not exactly cartman level, and my mom did not spoil me to a T, but you have to consider what loneliness and raising a child does to someone. it's very easy to give in when you're the only provider AND the only parent AND the only help you have around the house. i just don't think the fault all lies on liane, sometimes life is just unfair. nobody deserves the kind of abuse cartman dishes out tbh

The perfect crossover doesn’t exi-
"even he wouldn't do sick things to children" I'm pretty sure he was caught by the police during a pedo bust and then gets fired from teaching for a while on the ep where cartman try's to make mature friends lol
Cartman’s “West Side” comment really had me dying laughing
At the end of the day, the way she parents especially in the earlier seasons show how much she turned cartman into who he is today. the ending of tsst showed that as well. it is good that she is learning but she is at fault for cartman as well.
Just to remind people that Lianne Cartman is totally fine for mocking disabled people, and going on Springer, but buying him an iPad is one step too far beyond.
Liane is often hinted at for being a bigot in the show, so that is not surprising. She straight up made a Hitler costume and took him to watch "The Passion"
She just could not afford the tablet, her breaking point in that episode was the public humiliation Eric put her through
Honestly I do hope that Liane does start standing her ground more, and if you think about it, it could lead to a potential development for Eric. Will it happen? It’s hard to say, but I certainly hope so.
She has definitely laid down the line when he wanted her to get boobs.
I tell ya. When I got my iPad, I had to check the little box promising my first born and I chuckled knowing that I'll never have kids.
I love seeing Lianne growing a back bone and standing up to Cartman! I kinda want to see her pop him like that one time Kyle did and he started crying. I also like seeing Cartman being a mama's boy
She kinda did in the early seasons like smack him for being rude, but he didn't cry
Eric Cartman is unlike any other child any parent could ever handle, he will not ever change.
Which is why he becomes homeless in the future. He couldn't handle his job at the ice cream shop, while Butters did all the work, which leads to him eventually becoming manager of Denny's-Applebee's Max.
Yeah...not unless the creators say so...and even then who's to say that, that change will be permanent 2:07
He can have a good life, if he ever leaves south park
I blame the mother

I’ve noticed she is a lot less passive!! It’s refreshing
Cartman: "But, I _HATE_ this stupid house!"

Compared to the earlier seasons, she's less of a pushover to Cartman's antics
I like how toxicity and haterate is the main reason why Kyle and Cartman are friends in the first place. Also is it me or does Cartman kind lf have a secert crush on Kyel?It is disturbing how Cartman said that he breaks into Kyel's room all the time. This is truly the best way to talk about Liane
Even though Liane is practically the main reason why Cartman is the way he is, she’s finally taking accountability and responsibility for her action and for Cartman. Too bad Cartman fucked everything up for her because she wanted to get a job.
So, one thing I noticed, everyone calls her "MRS. Cartman, not MISS, which implies that she *did* get married at some point.
