Nah, this definitely has roots in more than just American movies. Peckinpah’s obviously an influence, but you can also see Fukasaku Kenji, John Woo and Miike Takashi here. Yeah, I’d say gnarly Yakuza flicks are the vibe this scene puts out more than anything.

It's because this scene didn't capture the Indonesian crime good enough, in reality they use cheaper weapons not some expensive M3 Benelli and stuffs, the equipment the gangs use is to good to be true, that's why they removed it.

The thing I love the most about the raid series is how raw it is unlike alot of other stuff, it really feels like I'm just getting a good view of a liveleak video. No eggman looking antagonist, no big personality characters with corny dialogue, no crappy constant cuts to compensate for horrible choreography, doesn't feel like a terrible hybrid sitcom/romantic/action film, and no cheesy "comedic relief". Just gets straight into it.

I thought they deleted this scene because Goto's gang (The Japanese) had more firearms than Bangun's (The Indonesians), which makes it unrealistic if Goto's gang didn't win the gunfights. The Goto's are heavily armed with AK's, Mp5, Uzi, and any other automatic firearms, while Bangun's men carries Machetes, Pistols, and Sawed Off Shotgun (i think i also see one semi-automatic rifle but i'm not sure). Plus they had backup coming down from the elevator armed with shotguns, as if the goons on the stair aren't armed enough.
I think is because a policeman got shot in that scene, you know, Indonesia's government attemp to increasing popularity of police department to increase public trust. So the scene where the police get shooted is kind of decreasing the hero character, more over the police character (gray suit with like military pet in front of the gate) kill the gang survivor, you know the duty of police is to catching all the criminal, and judge by the law.

i'd guess that the reason this scene is deleted is because it's completely irrational. first, nobody survives the fight, so there are no survivors to contribute to the plot; thus, there's no need for the scene in the movie. second, it's illogical for the cop to kill the kid unless he knew him before. how does the cop even know the kid was involved in the gang fight and wasn't just an innocent bystander? after all, he wasn't carrying a weapon.

This scene shows gang war turf war and how bad it can get for a newbie joining a gang(there's a message there). The cop shooting the runaway kid is understandable as revenge. For the cop, its just another criminal escaping. He doesn't discern gangs foreign or local. He was shot and wanted to take a criminal on his "way out".

Because the scene looks real like the massacre that was carried out during the war using firearms, even if you pay attention there are some details where even though someone is dead they are still being shot. This scene is like showing violence in physical form using firearms. There are several prohibitions and provisions in every circulating film, in this scene it is clear that genocide or massacre behavior even though the enemy is dead is still being shot many times.

Because 'this epic scene' absolutely doesn't need film. We don't know this characters. And we can't empathize them. So this scene would be unnecessary and feel by viewers like excessed.
Actually it would make sense in relation to the gang war. In the movie, we only see Bejo's man doing the killing and only hear Goto's son talking about their side retaliating. The only problem was we don't see Goto's family in action until at the end, and even then, they didnt fire a single shot.We only see Goto's man get hunted down, not retaliate. While this scene took out the main focus on Rama, it would have explained what Goto's son was talking about during the meeting with Bagun.

I can see why they removed it for another reason. In this scene the body count is so high, it almost makes the actions of the main characters irrelevant. Though an interesting and well made scene, it would really detract from the greater goings on of the storyline.

I thought they deleted this scene because Goto's gang (The Japanese) had more firearms than Bangun's (The Indonesians), which makes it unrealistic if Goto's gang didn't win the gunfights. The Goto's are heavily armed with AK's, Mp5, Uzi, and any other automatic firearms, while Bangun's men carries Machetes, Pistols, and Sawed Off Shotgun (i think i also see one semi-automatic rifle but i'm not sure). Plus they had backup coming down from the elevator armed with shotguns, as if the goons on the stair aren't armed enough.

I think is because a policeman got shot in that scene, you know, Indonesia's government attemp to increasing popularity of police department to increase public trust. So the scene where the police get shooted is kind of decreasing the hero character, more over the police character (gray suit with like military pet in front of the gate) kill the gang survivor, you know the duty of police is to catching all the criminal, and judge by the law.

i'd guess that the reason this scene is deleted is because it's completely irrational. first, nobody survives the fight, so there are no survivors to contribute to the plot; thus, there's no need for the scene in the movie. second, it's illogical for the cop to kill the kid unless he knew him before. how does the cop even know the kid was involved in the gang fight and wasn't just an innocent bystander? after all, he wasn't carrying a weapon.

This scene shows gang war turf war and how bad it can get for a newbie joining a gang(there's a message there). The cop shooting the runaway kid is understandable as revenge. For the cop, its just another criminal escaping. He doesn't discern gangs foreign or local. He was shot and wanted to take a criminal on his "way out".

Why was it removed and even youtube gave a warning? Because the scene looks real like the massacre that was carried out during the war using firearms, even if you pay attention there are some details where even though someone is dead they are still being shot. This scene is like showing violence in physical form using firearms.
There are several prohibitions and provisions in every circulating film, in this scene it is clear that genocide or massacre behavior even though the enemy is dead is still being shot many times.

Actually it would make sense in relation to the gang war. In the movie, we only see Bejo's man doing the killing and only hear Goto's son talking about their side retaliating.
The only problem was we don't see Goto's family in action until at the end, and even then, they didnt fire a single shot.We only see Goto's man get hunted down, not retaliate.
While this scene took out the main focus on Rama, it would have explained what Goto's son was talking about during the meeting with Bagun.
I really do agree with sulti1274 because its just doesnt add up and make any sense to the story. If this scene get included to the film, it will only make the film longer with no particular reason.
I wouldn't say it didn't make sense....but it would have broken the pacing throughout the movie

I can see why they removed it for another reason. In this scene the body count is so high, it almost makes the actions of the main characters irrelevant. Though an interesting and well made scene, it would really detract from the greater goings on of the storyline.
