Thank you so much for making this video. Google is now requiring all Shopify stores to have Dmarc set up for feb 1st 2024, and the google information on this subject is very confusing for people like me with very little knowledge of this stuff. Your video was so simple, and worked great. You saved me and took a huge stress away from me.

This was really useful, I was able to apply this to my Wix business email and website (gmail based email) in the UK. It’s worked perfectly, thank you. Now my emails have been going through to my clients without been rejected, before I had a high rejection rate which is really frustrating when you’re trying to run a business! Thanks! I also ran the test which you show at the end before and after applying the changes and the update was immediate.
This was so helpful. I kept getting emails to Gmail users rejected because of SPF issues. Tried to use the Google resources and they explained it where only a tech geek could get it. This explained it step by step and now everything is going smoothly! Thank you!
What an excellent video! Straight, clear, to the point. A lot of online guides are filled with fluff to buff the time, but this was direct, thank you for this very helpful guide.

I found this incredibly helpful. I did have a little issue with needing to split my DKIM record as I didn't originally notice the full thing wasn't pasting but thanks to the tool I knew the problem had to be from the value and not that I hadn't input a DKIM record. If anyone is having issues, that might be something helpful to check. I simply then just used a tool that easily split the record for me and was able to get it to work.

How long does it take to get verified on Google Admin Toolbox as my business email is still not verified after a few minutes of updating the records. Should I wait a few hours? Thanks for your help!
You're welcome! Definitely wait a few hours. Double check your records to see if you have included them all if you do not get verified within 48 hours.

Stewart I seriously cannot thank you enough for your videos! Super clear. I appreciate how patient you are with your step by step explanations. My question is: during the last step of Google Admin Toolbox CheckMX, when I hit run checks it says “Check was not possible. Request timed out”. Do you know why that is? Does this have something to do with the fact that I just a few min ago hit Start Authentication for DKIM? Do I need to wait for DKIM Authentication to show as completed on Google Admin? Thanks in advance!!
Update: DKIM authentication section on Google Workspace is still showing the words “Stop Authentication” indicating that the authentication may have not yet been completed, even after waiting 48 hours. I also tried sending a test email and it indeed ended up in the recipient’s junk folder. Any ideas? Thanks Stewart!

I have a client with a domain at Squarespace and hosting at Namecheap (the domain points to namecheap). They setup gmail at Squarespace then we built their website on their exisiting Namecheap hosting package and redirected the DNS to Namecheap. So, the advanced DNS is not available at Namecheap in this scenario and I'm curious why the email is not working-I copied the SPF and DKIM from Squarespace to Namecheap's Zone Editor and it is NOT working. I do not have a DMARC (maybe that's the problem). Just wondering if there's an easy solution in this scenario, or is it just easier to transfer the domain? Thanks 👍

Thank you so much Stewart. I was going crazy trying to fix (mostly because I didn't know what I was actually fixing). I have one question for you, that I hope you have the time to answer: In my search for fixing the SPF problems, I came across Google's support pages, where they talk about using other senders than Google Workspace. I use the Outlook App for Mac (logged in with my google account) for for viewing and sending my emails. Do I have to include this app someway, so that the e-mails I send from Outlook are still accepted by the receiver?
Great Value in this video Stewart, thank You! Quick question: I have 2 pre-existing TXT DKIM files. Should I delete these or is it ok to leave these with the new one I created with Google
It's almost unbelievable that the official setup documentation from Google Workspace only provides information about the MX record and nothing more. After that, due to Google's strict email policy, emails don't arrive, and error messages follow. Why isn't this mentioned in Google's initial setup documentation? Many thanks for this RUclips video; it saved me!
Apologies for another question Stewart - Once I run my checks I have an error with MTA STS - It says "If your domain wants to use MTA-STS (optional), the MTA-STS TXT record must comply with RF--------." Im unsure what this means (I might have deleted a DNS record by mistake) - If you could shine some light on this id be very thankful!
Very helpful! Wondering if you have any tips regarding a SPF to ensure that emails don’t get sent to spam. For background, I am using Apple Mail and my iPhone to send my google business emails from which are sending to my clients spam.
Thanks for the video Stewart - Once I've ran the checks through the tool box its saying 'There must be no more than one SPF record.' as well as a warning sign instead of a tick next to 'MTA-STS DNS Record' - I don't suppose you know how to fix this?
@StewartGauld Thank you for a great tutorial ... you made it very easy. Quick question ... I received a "Check was not possible." from the Google Admin Toolbox Check MX. Would that potentially be from the DKIM DNS Record taking up to 48 hours to be implemented? Cheers
Great. If we have 10 emails from a same domain do we need to add dmarc 10 times as it requires mailto parameter? Also for each domain purchased from cloudfare do we need to repeat the whole process?

Do I have to include this app someway, so that the e-mails I send from Outlook are still accepted by the receiver?
I also want to know this. Sending from outlook to Gmail accounts has been a headache.
Great Value in this video Stewart, thank You! Quick question: I have 2 pre-existing TXT DKIM files. Should I delete these or is it ok to leave these with the new one I created with Google
Your welcome! I would leave these for now.
I know right! I always wonder the same! You're welcome!
I will have to look into this.
Ehi Stewart, this is amazing, thank you so much. In order to get DKIM and DMARC fixed, we need to buy access to the Google Admin Workspace, right ?
You will need a Google Workspace account yes.
Very helpful! Wondering if you have any tips regarding a SPF to ensure that emails don’t get sent to spam. For background, I am using Apple Mail and my iPhone to send my google business emails from which are sending to my clients spam.
Welcome! You will need to follow this process to reduce spam and increase email deliverability.
Thanks for the video Stewart - Once I've ran the checks through the tool box its saying 'There must be no more than one SPF record.' as well as a warning sign instead of a tick next to 'MTA-STS DNS Record' - I don't suppose you know how to fix this?
Your welcome! I'll have to look into this.
Thank you so much Stewart - You've been incredibly helpful with previous questions, you've gained a subscriber for life!@@StewartGauld
You are amazing!! Can you do a video on how to add these records if you brought a domain with shopify?
Thanks again! Sure! I'll look into this.
@StewartGauld Thank you for a great tutorial ... you made it very easy.
Quick question ... I received a "Check was not possible." from the Google Admin Toolbox Check MX.
Would that potentially be from the DKIM DNS Record taking up to 48 hours to be implemented?
Cheers
Hey!
I would look back at this after 48 hours yes.
@@StewartGauld Thanks Stewart ... I appreciate you replying!
Great. If we have 10 emails from a same domain do we need to add dmarc 10 times as it requires mailto parameter?
Also for each domain purchased from cloudfare do we need to repeat the whole process?
Hey! No just with one email. Yes if you have seperate domains and associated emails.
thank you stewart. i just subscribed! i just started my business and my emails have been going into spam folders of my prospective clients. your guide is the best in setting spf, dkim and dmarc! better than google! plus all your link to copy text and run checks. no problems were found! i can now start my email campaign again. ( bttw do you videos on email campaigns?) really apprciate your videos!
Thanks mate.
I'm glad you found this so helpful! Yes we have many videos on email marketing. Let me know how you go!
Thanks! saved another day at work :)))
Glad I could help!
Hi! A year ago I set up a Business account for Free with gmail thanks to your tutorial (thank you so much). Now I am wondering how to authentificate this email in Mailerlite to keep sending marketing emails. I was able to set up SPF correctly but have no clue how to set up DKIM. I was watching your video but it seems that I would need workspace. Is there a way of authentifying this free business account without using workspace? Thank you ☺
Hey!
Unfortunately you will need a proper business email.
Is it possible it takes a while ? I keep getting "check was not possible" Request timed out ?
Thanks so much for this great video. Just hoping to be able to check my domain now.
I did get an error on the first SPF when I added the record after saving it said "This domain is not in our system" maybe that's the reason ? Thanks Stewart.
Hey!
Yes it can take 48 hours. Come back to this in that time frame, if you keep getting this error double check that you added the correct details.
Thanks for the great tutorial! You just saved us a lot of time!
Glad it helped!
hello stewart thank you so much for this. I had one question. when i am checking the mx toolbox. I am getting this error: spf "HostName" More than one record found. All i did was follow the instructions. Do i have to delete any previous dns records ?
Hmmm, I'll have to look into this!
should I do the DMARK for every email/user in my office?
Hey! Just one email user.
Do you have to add a DMARK record for every user on the workspace account then?
Hey!
No just for one user.
Hey, Stewart! Thanks for this video, super helpful! I had one issue when I was trying to add the DKIM value. It wouldn't let me add the entire value, as it said I have a 255 character limit. Any suggestions for how to get around this? I tried splitting it up into multiple TXT records, but when I did the check through the Google Admin Toolbox at the end, it said "check was not possible". I'd appreciate any help with this, thank you!
Hey! I'll have to look into this.
@@StewartGauld I'd appreciate that, thank you!
Thanks for great video, After completing though on the google admin toolbox check mx site, when I run a couple of sites, it comes back with an error and says check is not possible?
I'm glad! Make sure you followed the video correctly!
Thanks, bro this was super helpful, finally someone that helped me for real on RUclips.
Glad I could help!
Great video! So I just finished updating the three settings and my domain name on the CheckMX site, but it says “Check was not possible. Request timed out”. Do you know why it's saying that?
Thanks. Have you waited up to 48 hours?
I had the same problem@@StewartGauld . I waited 48 hours and it still says the same thing when I ran the check again “Check was not possible. Request timed out” Any idea how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm getting extremely frustrated!! 😞😩😫😡🤬
Just wanted to say thanks for making this easy to understand video, greatly appreciated
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this tutorial. I ran a check and all seems good except one error that says MTA-STS DNS Record. Do you know what this could mean?
Welcome. Did you give it 48 hours?
@@StewartGauld I waited three days.
Amazing Stewart. Literally the only video online that made this process simple - thank you! Do we need to add dmarc records for every individual person’s email in our company, or just one account? Apologies if that is what was meant by “aliases” above.
Hey Jay,
Thanks for that! No just the one email is sufficient.
Thanks so much. It works so well.
@@Advanedu welcome 🤗
hey Stewart thanks for the video, my doubt is what if I have multiple emails crested with that domain, is it ok if we add only the admin email, or should we add all the gmails connected, if yes how? reference: 6:25 Just fyi, I'm starting to send bulk emails from various accounts
Hey,
You just need to do this once with one email.
