Fascinating and wonderful - this magnificent carousel, lovingly restored. Jane, your many fans admire your great patience and determination. You've given New York, the Youngstowners and all us carousel lovers a lasting gift.
What a terrific piece and interview. I didn’t realize how many years of tedious time consuming labor went into bringing the Idora Park Carousal, aka “The Merry Go Round”, back to life. Jane’s passion and determination has left a wonderful gift and legacy for many new generations to enjoy. May Jane Rest In Eternal Peace Now, And Forever. She will not be forgotten. From an old “Idorian”, Youngstown, Ohio.
If these carousel horses could talk, imagine the stories they’d tell. They’d seen The Great Depression, both world wars, survived a fire, were refurbished masterfully over the course of two decades by a wonderful lady and survived a category 2 hurricane. You can see her passion and love for her carousel in every detail. She put time and effort in and it shows. The intricate carvings and colors make them look beautifully realistic. Next time I visit New York I’ll certainly take a ride.
Absolutely brilliant and the owners are marvellous people for saving this ride. I saw this ride in Brooklyn last December 2019, it’s incredible and the sound is amazing.
Very nice indeed and well done...... You need to put the canvas hood on the top as that will show it off to its own concept and the inside will be more atmospheric. Thanks from England.
Do you know what kind of gems they use on the horses? Are they real crystal? I'm having a hard time finding crystal or even glass gems of a large enough size. All I can seem to find is acrylic, resin or plastic. Thank you!

I grew up going to Idora Park in the 60's and 70's and riding this carousel. What a beautiful restoration!!

Rest in Peace Jane Walentas. I’m heartbroken to hear of her passing.
I am from youngstown have many memories from this carousel ...kind of bitter sweat ...wish it stayed in youngstown 💞
I rode this many times, along with the Jack Rabbit and the Wild Cat. It was the highlight of our summers as kids.
I plan on coming here to see and ride the carousel. This is one thing I would love to see something Idora since it closed 2 years before I was born
Beautiful job of the carousel! I've rode it several times at Idora. Great memories.
Beautiful and very informative. I rode that carousel as a kid, many times, at Idora Park, Youngstown, OH.
