@@KnapperJackCrafty I would not recommend it at all but just a thought. Read a paper on iron age ceremonial wine in which the researchers found traces of nightshade and opium in empty wine jug residue.

Kinnickinnack is supposed to be mixed with native tobacco to dilute it as real native tobacco is very high in nicotine. it also helps improve the flavor and lower the temp of the smoking mix. Here in Western Canada the inner bark ofRed osier Dogwood is what is used
as kids, here in France, when not making flint knives we used to smoke the dry stems of clematis vines (old man's beard). Its a traditionnal kids' thing here. That stuff is pretty toxic and stinky but kids are kids eh? On July 14th (Bastille Day), the firecrackers were allowed so we used to keep a clematis cigar lit all the day to ignite the fuses (they burn very slowly and keep burning for hours).
Un vídeo sorprendente , por el tema del tabaco y por la tecnología tan efectiva y sencilla, sobre todo la pipa que como tú has dicho, podía usarse para transportar el fuego durante los largos desplazamientos. 🦈🔱
I always wonder if there are plants similar to tobacco that are undiscovered out there, or if ancient peoples just experimented with everything and that's the reason why tobacco was already popular in the americas by the time the Europeans came along and found out about it.
You mentioned Mesquite and I'm pretty sure that smoking the dried leaves was a "thing" among the natives in Texas. I never tried it and am not sure what they got out of the experience "back in the day".
I tried mesquite bark, wood, and leaves. It's kind of like the reason for chewing gum. It's something to do. Almost like a fidget toy. ( edit: it doesn't taste that good. This dogwood "kinnikinnick " is better.)
Man, I had an image in my head about what you actually looked like because I’ve never seen your face until now, only your hands, and I was sort of close but hey it’s good to know.
Good information Jack growing up I’d smoke grape vines sometime rabbit tobacco lol pack that thing full of Mexican agriculture then you’ll be happy jack crafty lol
I’m thinking about willow bark and aspirin. I’m wondering if it helps aches and pains? Also, for some people aspirin has the calming effect you describe.🤔
What is the point of smoking something that does not contain nicotine or anything else fun? I made myself a nice pipe from the shell of a sea snail and put a reed stem on it because I dropped my rolling papers on the wet ground once. Worked great.
I always heard that the inner bark was the preferable substance. To cure it you remove the outer bark then you shave the inner bark back on the stick, sort of like a frizzy stick. This is then used to toast the inner bark over a fire. You can also mix it with other herbs, like bear berry leaves, wild tobacco or what have you. It's a good secondary use for the dogwood you gather for your arrows...
Yes. It's a useful byproduct for sure. I thought about doing some videos with other ingredients in the future, but I don't know if I'm that adventurous.
I wonder if there is anything like that here in northeast Colorado?? We don't have silky dogwood here, I don't believe. Not sure I should just start smoking every brush I find along the river!😂😂
@@KnapperJackCrafty People did that in paleolithic/stone age times by putting some herbs or even rosin on a hot stone and inhaling the fumes. Nessuna psichedelia, nessuna euforia, nessuna sensazione oppiacea o stimolante. Questa però è solo la mia esperienza
Slippery slope Pat, kinnikinnik is a gateway shrub😉
😂 You are one clever hombre
You can soak the bark in poppy latex and nightshade berry juice to get a similar drug to what the druids where using during the iron age.
