At his recent fan meeting in Bangkok, after being touched by the fans kindness and a beautiful video made for him, he cried and he couldn't stop crying. He cried for several minutes and even through the song For A While before he finally calmed down. He said that the reason why he was crying so much was because he felt sorry and felt like he didn't keep his promises to his fans, and for making his fans in Bangkok wait for so long to see him again. (10 years I think?) He felt awful about that. When just at the MOST recent fan meet in Hong Kong, he explained that when he starts crying, he just can't stop because as an actor he gets a lot of thoughts in his head when he starts to cry and that's what makes it hard for him to stop. That dark time you mention, I think he may still harbor some guilt from that. It might even still get to him to this very day.
