What a freaking hidden gem this channel is. Big fan from the states, your videos are so relaxing and tranquil even if I don't know a lot about sailing. You sir, are the Canadian Bob Ross of boats.
Everything is so beautiful!! The scenery, the boat, the other boats, the land, of course Devlin and even you in your own way are kind of beautiful for a burly old gentleman Alfy! I look just like you! lol Anyway, I had to stop @ the 8:43 mark and just exhale. Your videos have a way of relaxing and unwinding me. I would like to thank you again for taking us along.
I have always enjoyed looking at sailboats and watching them sail. I assume others share this sentiment. When we had our boat, a 27’ Hunter, I believed people were watching us go by and I felt good about being part of the maritime scenery. Your boat, however, raises this to a whole new level. She is beautiful and you add so much to the enjoyment of watching sailboats. I hope you understand just how much you add to the beauty of wherever you are.
We share that as well and love watching other sailboats pass us by or even sitting close by at anchor in a bay. We have really enjoyed sitting in the dingy and getting photos and footage of Northern Dancer V, but mostly enjoy the moments of just sitting back and taking her in with no cameras in hand. The more time we get aboard, the more we love her. :)
So good to see both of You. It's like meeting old good friends. Thank You. Fair winds, following seas and calm anchorages, of course ;-) Hope one day to see both of You on the water
Hello my Brother...Been away for awhile, caught up with your adventures. Dev looking beautiful as ever...and you getting more gray hair? what's up with that? LOL....Love your boat, its a fantastic voyager. Looking forward to new days and nights on the water.
So glad you stopped by and caught up with our travels. :) I am very lucky to have Devlin in my life, an amazing partner. The grey hair keeps coming, but I'm enjoying life. ha We love our Northern Dancer V and have a lot of cruising plans for her. :)
Beautiful video, beautiful boat, beautiful scenery,..... beautiful music from my home country... weird how music manage to get one emotionally closer to your beautiful country, a country I've never being to, Canada.
Thanks for another great video. Telegraph Cove looks like a great location. Nice to see the starfish making a comeback! Devlin: How are you liking Northern Dancer so far?
So glad you enjoyed it and Telegraph is probably one of my favourite marinas on the coast. :) Devlin passes along that she is loving Northern Dancer and she is excited to do more exploring with with her. :)
This makes this Toronto resident homesick. Sailing the south coast presents so many opportunities with so much to see, even for a weekend. I would love to be back there on a boat but this stupid thing called work remains an obstacle. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on future boat projects, Alfy.
I have the same problem with that work thing! It gets in the way of my full time sailing dreams, but not too much longer and it can happen! Then the projects can start! Varnishing is on the list! ha
In the mid 80's we sailed to the bay at the north end of Thetis. Met a guy who claimed his family had owned all/most/much/some of the island, who drove us around one day. Great part of the world! You mentioned your kids--hope they're doing well.
@@lifeislikesailing Kids! You love them, you raise them, you worry about them, and then they leave you! Mine is 39, and its still the same conundrum- love him like was 3.9.
Hello Alfie, no sailing since last July! My goodness, you must be suffering from separation from Northern Dancer! I hope that you’re not getting depressed, with those dreadful temperatures that you have over winter in the far North. Best regards from southern Australia.
Hello and yes we are missing Northern Dancer V very much, but stay tuned for some new content coming in the next few months! Fair winds from Canada's far north.
As always terrific video. I was on the other side of the cut in Clam Bay last Sunday. It was quite windy, made for a brisk sail up from James Bay on Prevost.
Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. A shake down cruise is the first cruise of the season that is usually short, but lets you test all the systems on board to be sure they are all working. Then you know the boat is ready for the season and longer cruising. :)
@@lifeislikesailing Thanks a lot for this explanation. Will use it next spring, right now I am preparing our Hans Christian 41T for the winter 😂. But I sailed some 1800 nm this year, so no complaints. Good luck. Michael
Hello! Patrick here. SV Strunf from south of Brazil. A question please. In this place, do you browse in fresh water or in salty water? Cause here, in Guaraguassu river, we browse in salty water for 1 hour, after, the water is fresh.... Congratulations for the your channel, we folow you from Paranagua, Honey Island, south of Brazil...
Finally, we're heading north next Thursday. First time sailing north and very excited. We'll check in at Sydney and then on to Gabriola - Pender Harbor... Any suggestion on anchorages around Gabriola or marinas at Pender Harbor? Will you be out and where? Cheers from Bellingham.
I hope it works out and fingers for you to get across, it has been a long time waiting for so many. It is a great area to cruise, Silva Bay on Gabriola is good, sometimes a bit tight for anchoring amongst all of the boats on moorings, but you can usually find a spot. A couple marina options there also. Pender Harbour has a few marinas to choose from. Won't be out on the boat this month :/.
@@lifeislikesailing have you taken her out to blue water? We've crossed from New Orleans across the Gulf of Mexico through Panama Canal to Hawaii and stayed there for 7 months and back home to New Orleans. West to east passage was not fun. Weather was good but the winds are not in your favor. Have fun and keep the wind in her sails
@@garyditcharo1055 We have only had our HC for a year and a half and have only been on board three times due to this pandemic. :/ So we are still getting to know her. We cruised our last boat (a 1982 C&C 34) extensively along the British Columbia coast for 10 years, but we do have some offshore passage ideas which is one of the reasons we purchased Norther Dancer V. Still a number of years before we'd go off shore because we still have a lot we want to explore on the BC coast. I'm sure that trip you did created some great memories! :)
@@lifeislikesailing I'm hooked on starting small. I'm going to buy a hobie tandem kayak and see what adventures I can find . It was always my dad's dream to buy a sailboat . His funeral is on the 25th... I think I'll take over that dream for him.
I saw the "Yellow Submarine" on the piling. That is hands don the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. My father made me watch it alone when I was about nine. A never ending saga of a chorus "We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine...yellow submarine...." Over and over with a submarine floating through Paper Mache artwork. It droned on and on....it was like having a conversation with someone that can only say "Hello" over and over again.
i ought to watch ya'll more often. always quality and wholesome! thanks to ya'll
Thank you and so glad to hear you enjoyed this one! :)
