Short answer: More money
Long answer: more money!!!!!!
Well that's what any human being wants and eeds ryte?
what is the medium answer ?
@@pomrosellc3520more money!!!
@@arhamdad4788when you're already rich....you DO NOT NEED any more money....its just greed plain and simple...
Yes because uefa hogs all the money
So essentially the super league but controlled by the uefa
Well the first part of it minus that you only play two top teams rather than nearly all the games, the second part is normal although I hope they bring back away goals because otherwise I don't think it will work because you will still have matches like the Porto Vs Arsenal match in the first round.
Well, no, because it's not a closed league with the same batch of teams every time.
@aw277 it's the same teams, with lesser money than the Super League.
Not at all. Such an ignorant comment. If Chelsea finish 10th in the prem they won't be in the champions league. They would have been in the super league.
@@kimi3421
It didn't said anything regarding the qualification method stop making things up you people were complaining about extra matches here you supporting it when it also contain extra matches plus the 32 team club world cup lol
Why not show an example of it on that screen!!
Teams that finish top 8 will go straight to the knockout rounds. Teams placed 9th-24th will have to play each other in a knockout playoff round over two legs to progress to the round of 16 teams and teams placed 25th-36th are eliminated completely from Champions League. Also the more games a team can win they'll get more money so for smaller teams that is significant. So with more games played teams that finished top 8 will have extra time off since they won't have to play in the knockout playoffs and those knockout playoffs games will be played when those top 8 teams are resting.
@@-_--_--- Thanks for the explanation

More games more injuries more top players being injured all for the sake of a profit
They don’t play enough 40 games a year isn’t enough
@@Samsonmanasemost leagues alone have 35+ games, then add on all the possible cup games and there at least 60 games a season, that taking away the time of the summer break and international breaks and you have 7-8 games a month, that’s too much.
@@youtubeperson3111 hit the nail on the head there.
Its by design, so then the big clubs prioritise competitions and effectively favour the UEFA Champions League (super league in all but name), or they relax the rules even further to allow bigger and bigger squads, thereby allowing all the top teams a monopoly on the best players even further, strengthening their continuous chokehold on modern day football.
@@Samsonmanase you say 40 games a year is not enough, but you seem to forget that a lot of top players also play international games. If you think more games are good, look no further than players like Gavi and Pedri.
Their legs are gone before the age of 25 because they play so many damn minutes even in the current format.
UEFA - "Hmm things are simple. How do we make it complicated?"
No - how can we make more revenue.
2:17 yes but she asked how the fans feel not the clubs
Lol, they dont care what the fans think. At the end of the day the fans will still go and watch their teams play. They will complain a lot but they will still watch their teams. Which is what matters to them.
Absolutely dodged that question
More games. No wonder Klopp is tired
Tired my assxx. He wants the German job.
He probably got a whiff of this in the horizon and bailed.
I genuinely believe that this and PGMOL are the reasons Klopp calls it quits.
klopp called it quits because he got sick of coming 2nd
If thats the case he would have accepted Bayern or Real offers in the past and did like Pep the cheater. @cosmicbaggy9637
So managers don’t want this and players don’t want it but it will go ahead regardless?
Yes, because as you heard in the video, the owners want it.
Money money 🤑
Are they going to expand the squad size as well? It's all well and good saying that the clubs are playing an additional 2 games, but if you're still limited to a squad of 25 players in both the Premier League and UEFA competitions, we're going to see more and more injuries piling up for teams. Especially if we do get that additional place in the Champions League as it'll mean 8-9 teams playing in Europe (depending on this season and where teams could potentially finish) so almost half of the league would have players being made to play 2 games a week for most of the season (between Europe, League, Carabao and FA Cups)
Great point
Of course not they only cared about money
25 players 🤣😂. How many do you need!!!
@Barts027 injury are up 40% with var next year will be 60% use your brain
@@Barts027 When you consider that Liverpool had 14 players on the injured list from that 25 man squad before the Forest game, that goes a long way to explaining why we had a bunch of kids in the squad that had less than 3 games of senior experience in their career

What he means to say: American owners looking to change Europe in to a franchise, closed system.

You are right
You don't need to win to be a champion, you only need to identify as a champion. Like duhhhh
Except you can look at it differently. It's the league where all the champions play. Not only the champions, but it does have all champion teams it
No it doesn't. If it was a true champions league it would all the European countries domestic champions, there wouldn't be any 2nd 3rd or 4th placed teams involved at all. The only way to include multiple sides from 1 country would be to include domestic cup winners as well

"Nah, just a static shot of the badges"
Do you remember playing fifa career mode and in ucl you faced a team who used to giveaway you a free win because they didn’t had enough players fit to have a playing 11. That will happen in games like fa cup, carabao cup, copa del rey etc.

Most of it goes after to the owners of the clubs. The more people watch the more tvs have to pay to clubs to be able to braodcast
Teams should have biggers squads and rotate players more often. This will create a higher demand for players. Being a pro player is now more achievable than before.
Better for teams outside top 5 leagues
is it though? just seems like they're killing football
@@flynngoodwo Under current format plzen had no chance of progressing due to an unlucky draw in the 22/23 season - Bayern, Barcelona and Inter Milan in their group

the prem clubs in europe mainly the champions league will either drop the efl cup by withdrawing or play the kids in the tournament
I think in England they should just make a rule, clubs that qualify for Europe do NOT enter the EFL cup. Those extra 2 group matches are just replacing 2 EFL cup matches so no major change on fatigue. EFL cup becomes a bit more interesting too, see how the best of the rest is.

Should do a 5 substitutions instead of 3.
@@toms986Do they not already do 5 subs?
Why, look at Liverpool right now, they have 11 players out so having to use youth players and they are getting their chances.
Normally they wouldn't or nearly as many, but it might make clubs actually use their youth players more.
But using to many youth is an issue because people wont want to pay the high prices for tickets to effectively see a youth team play.if i travelled to watch Liverpool have the team were youth players i would feel cheated. Thats an issue with the League cup most premier league teams rotate and than thrre is less interest in the games. Therefore it could have a detrimental effect on the attendence/viewing figures
@@liamp7832 By expanding it though to 8 Group games is ridiculous. Surely go back to straight 2 Leg knockout otherwise clubs be seeking squads of 35 and not 25, and those clubs in Europe be picking Under 18/21 players to take part in League Cup, and in future FA Cup as these competitions die a slow death.
“The clubs will be happy as they have 2 extra games”
🤔
The clubs will be because of money, not necessarily rhe managers and players though lol
More games is simply bolox. Consider player fatigue; fans can't have that much time and resources!!
Draw will play an important part. Home game is key since each team will meet 8 different opponent
The new format is design to allow the top teams playing each other before the knockout stages to generate more TV money while give these team enough games against "low ranked" teams that they still have a good chance to qualify. Only thing is with 36 teams in 4 pots that 9 team per pot so I assume when you try to draw games for teams in same pot they are going to have to find a extra team from another pot.
Also, I wonder how long it is before each teams simply qualify through their domestic league/cups for european football. Then the clubs EUFA co-efficient determines what EUFA competition that is.
They won't need to find extra teams from another pot...the 9th team will be playing a lower team that week. As all the teams will.
If you have 9 teams in a pot you can only draw 4 pairs of fixtures. If the 9th team plays against team from same plot later to make up then the team they play will have played twice against teams from same pot for that round of fixtures. @@stingersplash
36 teams involved. Top 8 teams qualify for next round. Teams that finish in ninth and 24th, go to play off in 2 legged tie. Any team that finishes 25th or under are out, with no place in europa league. League phase ranking will play a part.
Yep it's not rocket science.
I like the part where the clubs stay in the same league you start playing in. For example, my club I support Olympiakos begin the season in the UEFA Europa League, they will not enter the UEFA Conference League regardless where they finish.
I just wish the English league would therefore change the structure. The EFL cup was basically brought in to counter the introduction of the European competitions in the 50s. Now we have 3 clear tiers of European competition, have teams who qualify for them NOT enter the EFL cup, then the extra 2 games in effect just replace 2 'lost' EFL cup games. No change then really. Also the EFL cup be a bit interesting being a 'best of the rest'.
The EFL Cup is mostly for lower tier clubs with PL and Championship teams fielding Under 21 teams.
1:24 Wow that's crazy, I've never seen a league table shown with the top half and bottom half separately. Not even on teletext in the old days and certainly never on Sky Sports.
Split screen?
Really, really? The top half is frequently shown first, then the bottom. The fun was in seeing was Man U in the bottom or the top half.
@@givenfirstnamefamilyfirstn3935 whoooosh
I think this new format has potential to freshen up the competition & combat the threat of the ‘ Super League’ plus it’s stops the stupid 3rd place team dropping into another competition which I’ve never liked , you should only compete in 1 of the 3 competitions
I totally agree with you
Surely they are starting a Super League by doing this? Pure greed nothing else.
For the Greek clubs, the Greek Champions PAOK Thessaloniki will play in the Champions League qualifier second round. Panathinaikos Athens who won the Greek Cup will play in the Europa League qualifier second round and Olympiakos Piraeus who won the Conference League title goes directly into the Europa League Group Phase. AEK Athens and Aris Thessaloniki both play in the Conference League qualifier third round.
By half way of the league, top 3 or 4 will be about safe in the final top 8 and the bottom 3 or 4 will be just about out. The others will be playing for something at least until game 6 or 7. Group stage this season was poor and settled early, this will be an improvement.
I can guarantee you on final matchday plenty will be on the line.
Did we have to change it?
It’s about time actually looking over how long winded the group stages are just facing the same 3 teams over 4 months. Every team facing 8 different teams makes for a more exciting and grand tournament I think, this should be good.

Exciting!
Thus is good for big teams who can afford many more top players and a deep squad. For smaller teams its a disaster cause they wont be able to rotate players like the big teams can.
I like the sound of the change tbh just will take time to adapt to it. Will make Group stages a little more exciting. Squads for the big teams need to be bolstered in depth to cope with the extra games. I do have some sympathy for the players/managers but they earn enough in their short career, suck it up.

So you think Arsenal will never win a UCL trophy in the future?
As meddling with winning formats goes, i like it. What would of been the 3rd or even 4th place teams could still have something to play for in the final 8th game as its based on their positions in the league table not the table of four teams.
I thought there will be a visual or something
I like the idea of playing different teams each time but you could have done that and not expanded to 36 teams. Just keep 32 teams and do this same format...not sure I get the point of going to 36 teams. 6 games against 6 different opponents instead of the same 3 home and away I do like. It also makes for games mattering on the last fixture day , usually half the groups are already decided before the 6th game. Like the overall change just don't understand why go to more teams and 8 games instead of 6 using the new format.
They Made more Teams so that there is a lesser chance of Big Clubs Not Qualifying for it.
Go back to the champions of each league just playing each other , that was the champions league or European cup
I don't know if this new format will wort out,but it seems we can have better and more competitive matches. Let's wait for the next season.
This was all revealed over a year ago. The only change is they are dropping the word Europa from the Conference League. And yes people were hating on the Super League but UEFA condemned it not for the good of the game but because they want to do it, and now have 😅.
Bring the 3 foreigner rule back and that will snooker the bigger clubs
It will snooker all clubs
No...they would just take the smaller clubs best British players.
I think the extra games against potentially weaker opposition incentives coaches to play more academy players too. If nothing else for the sake of rotation which to me is 100% a good thing.
unless your name is Arteta
This is exactly how it works out in Football Manager
Its nice when new leagues come out its incredible 😁
Also screw the super league. Football is not only about the big teams and the big games if you support a struggling team and they pull off a big win it’s a great feeling and football moment.
One word = greed
Reduce that to 20 teams and I am in. Quality over quantity.
My only gripe with the new format is that I think a sharper cut-off should be made. Instead of allowing places 9-24 to progress, it ought to be 9-18. Under the current system, the risk of dropping out is too insignificant, which also makes the first round relatively insignificant.
I get all that, but what about the 35th team and 36th team, how are they decided if as normal they are top of the domestic league then whi get those spots?
Good in terms of profit
Play FM24 ya will understand it no issues :P
Time to find a new spot to watch
Could of just added an extra team in each group with the best third placed teams advancing to knockouts along with first and second.
Lots of big teams is going to lost small games because of unjury
They we increased the bench
The Champions Hockey League (Champions League for European Ice Hockey) did this format this season for the first time. It produced a Swiss champion for the first time and the previous champions got knocked out in the league stage. Gave a lot of variety. 6 games (3 home, 3 away) against 6 different teams. Exciting format. Whether it will translate well to the Champions League is the main question.
I think this format could be good for Celtic and Rangers as it could give them a chance to get into the play-off stage (9th to 24th) as they would have been reasonable a chance of beating their two Pot 4 opponents and getting something against the Pot 3 sides rather than as it is now - going out by not being able to win a single game since they would get two very strong sides in Pot 1 and Pot 2 and at best maybe get a win against their Pot 3 opponent which at best means the Europa League, now both have a chance of making the 2nd stage.
00:22 Yeah it's so true. The group stage has matches that are predictable/boring etc... (around half of them)
They still haven’t explained how the “8 League games” are chosen?
But he did. 4 pots of 9 teams graded from strongest to weakest (1-9, 10-18, 19-27, 28-36). Every club play two teams from each pot.

@@andrewwright4195Though not mentioned, I would think it would be based off each club's UEFA coefficient.
Unless away goals come back in the knockout games it’s not better.
Football fans have always been allergic to change so this was never going to go over well no matter what they did (just think of how long it took to get goal line technology and VAR into the sport). I think in theory the new format should be just fine, Swiss system has existed for a long time and been proven to work as it's a quite effective way to fairly accurately rank a large collection of competitors without having to have everyone play each other. The distribution of 4 pots based on coefficient where everyone plays 2 team per pot is a little bit odd, normally you'd play teams with the same current win/loss record as yourself but I guess it wouldn't work logistically for an event this big to have a fluid schedule like that.
I think people just need some time to get used to it. It's not a new system by itself, it's just new to football.
Why wouldn’t they be football is a shape of its former self and tackling has been taken out of the game the art of defence and tackling has been destroyed when you face tikki takka football you’re not even allowed challenge for the ball and the yellow come out in the first 10-20 mins of every game so that player can’t really challenge for the ball fully committed for the rest of the game
This isn’t a Swiss system
The League Cup needs to be made exclusive to non-PL clubs. English clubs already play too many games compared to other European leagues
