The introduction to Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier, one of the most important works in keyboard history. Through his two books of 24 Preludes and Fugues, one for each minor and major key, Bach showed the world the possibilities of equal temperament, which is still used in almost all music written today, from classical, to rock, to pop. This concept of writing pieces in all 12 keys went on to inspire other composers too, from Chopin and Liszt, to Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich.

I believe this was published in 1722, so just over 300 years ago. That's before electricity, audio recordings, cars, planes, steam trains, phones, and most modern medicine. For me this is what is so incredible about classical music. The way it affects our brains hasn't changed. In another 300 years, people will still be listening to this.

I used to love really hard a girl years ago that tried to play this because she knew I was playing piano and that I was fond of classical music.
We eventually broke up and not so long time ago I couldn't even hear this song without remembering her negatively. During that time I really lost my mental and got into a depression, because of the break up but also because of a lot of unfortunate events that chained with that. Now I'm on peace, and re-listening to that brings me huge nostalgia of a very determinate past time of my life that I won't forget ever. Maybe this girl hurt me as much as good, maybe that I idolized her too much, and that today she no longer think about me anymore, but everything is forgiven and I know I will die with no hard feeling and regret.

forget twinkle twinkle little star. this is the perfect beginner's song. do not be intimated whatsoever. you can learn this in a day or few and feel like you've accomplished a lot. if you have good memory, whether by sound memorization or muscle memory in the hands, you will learn it very very fast. simply play it at the speed you are comfortable with. the progression is incredibly intuitive to learn. it is essentially left to right for 5 notes, repeat to the end of the song, at which point there is a minor reversal.

This is the most nostalgic piece of mine. I remember when I was first learning the piano when I was six years old. I was always into pop music, but when I had my first lesson, my piano teacher showed me a genre that I never engaged in - classical music, this piece was the first one I learned. After every lesson on every Wednesday, my father would drive me home, picking up pizza for us to eat. My love for classical music came from this piece, so I always owe this piece a listen when times are rough, reminiscing about memories of long ago.

this piece of music is so nostalgic for me.
wanna hear a story of why it is?
i used to fall asleep to this music when i was young and one day i had a dream where i was at a place where i’ve never been before. though the thing is that this place felt really familiar. it was quite a fancy house with soft watermelon-colored walls and there wasn’t any furniture other than a table with a strawberry cake in the empty kitchen. i felt very nostalgic ever since and though nothing really special happened in the dream, i cherished every moment of it that i could remember.
