Storm surge will be significant. I don’t think the population along the coast is going to ride it out, but they will likely be under mandatory evacuation along panhandle. Regarding Michael: “An estimated $27.3 billion in damages (equivalent to $57 billion in 2022) The storm claimed the lives of 65 people in Southern Florida. More than 63,500 homes were destroyed.”
When did they start calling these tropical storms cyclones? I have never heard them called a cyclone in Florida -in the Hawaii yes,Thailand yes cyclone. Strange days are afoot
it's always been called a cyclone by meteorologists. There are different kinds of cyclones and hurricane's just one of them! In areas East of Asia it's commonly called a Typhoon!
@@roxtar10870 She's probably that woman who complained about different languages being used for ship info announcement on an international cruise ship!🤣
Dude - You are really downplaying this. All 4 of the hurricane models that begin to run only after a Tropical Depression is formed (ie. HAFS A & B) are ALL indicating a cat 4 or higher at landfall in the big bend of FL.
Looking forward to an update from Tropical Tidbits tomorrow. Yes NHC has landfall as a major hurricane. I’m 60 miles inland east of Tampa. It’s fast moving at least… 🙏
Thank you for the timely update on Tropical Storm Helene. It’s crucial for everyone in the affected areas to stay informed and prepared. The bigger and glaring question is...Why do we even allow the hurricane season to last until November? It should only be until August 31st, and any others that try to get in after that would be refused to make landfall and have to find somewhere else to land because we would be closed for the season, Duh!! 🤔
They always do this mostly because they don't know exactly where it's going so they are covering their bases if it turns into Tampa at the last minute. It will affect the entire west coast of Florida in some way it looks like
The safest place to be is in the first release of the cone of uncertainty prediction. I've never seen a storm stay within the initial projected cone. If you're to the left or right of that initial cone be on alert. Stay safe and watch for the Waffle House to close.
Jumping Jiminy J Josephat, James. You've worked at channel 13 for how long now? 15, 16 years? You think you could talk all those storms into by passing us on the east side. See what you can do about that, will ya?
Everyone are talking about to be safe and evac in the hurricane, me, lived in Florida my entire life, especially near Tampa bay, south of it actually, got hit by Ian in 2020, perfectly fine, and other hurricanes that would be catastrophic, made it out perfectly fine, sure we lost power in Ian for 3 WHOLE DAYS, but we are fine. If you live in the panhandle otherwise, EVACUATE NOW.
You would be right in your thinking. I'm actually considering evacuating. It would be an absolute for me, but it's too much now. Florida is a gorgeous place to live, but the thought of complete devastation for me and my handicapped family member's safety, is too much on the mind anymore..
I was vote for kamilla Harris because she would be for poverty stricken people but forget that Oakland CA with tents on the curb program have people crawling in to the tents with a crack from Africa with monkey pox for a piece

Yeah, they’ve been kinda deprived this month of Katrina like storms so yeah it’s Christmas again if you’re in the weather business 😂
Yes same here for me too😂

they've always been cyclones. Hurricanes are cyclones because they are "cyclonic"
@@obbie1osias467 I'm guessing that her "strange days are afoot" along with her comparison to Thailand is some kind of political dog whistle.
Typhoons are what they are called in many parts of Oceania and Asia. They spin in the opposite direction due to the earth's rotation.

Why is the cone so tucked into Tampa area west coast but spaghetti models hardly go there. ?

Yeah, the cone of uncertainty encompasses a larger area in case it shifts
Worst parts on the NE side.p
Bring on the rain 🌧!!! 🌧 🤷
It’s autumn and we’re still getting this kind of weather
Wouldn't this be number eight (not nine)? Maybe I missed one (?)
They always say cat 2 or lower and what happens a cat 4 or 5 this is what happened with Ian and Idalia I could name even more
