      Marc Gasol is a top 3 center in the league, he does everything right at both ends of the floor. I can't really think of a more all-around center than Gasol, maybe Anthony Davis.

    • @MrNatycool
      @MrNatycool 7 лет назад +16

      what because he doesn't have post moves?! Well guess what post moves are irrelevant in todays game. The best Centers are the ones most effective at rolling, rebounding and blocking shots and not hijacking offenses I.E......... DEANDREEEEEEEE

    • @MrNatycool
      @MrNatycool 7 лет назад +2

      Yes you just helped my point. Embiid is great because he is an all around player amd doesnt have to sit in the post all day unlike a guy like Okafor whl isnt a good player despite his post moves since he cant rebound for defend. Thanks for helping my point food do ur research.

  • @mattcatalano7094

    For once I agree with Shaq, no way is Deandre Jordan the best center in the league. Not even the best defensive big. He is good at catching lobs and rebounding but is very limited in other areas.

    • @mattcatalano7094
      @mattcatalano7094 7 лет назад +32

      TRE4RERE
      Rudy Gobert, Hasan Whiteside, Andrew Bogut, and Duncan until he retired were in the same league and even better in certain areas defensively, although Deandre is a better rebounder than all except maybe whiteside. But if he didnt have elite playmakers like paul and griffin creating huge lanes for him to catch alley oops he would be looked at more like tyson chandler than the best center in the league.

    Best Centers
    1. DeMarcus Cousins ( although he can play the 4) - just wish he would check his emotions more
    2. Karl Anthony Towns ( another guy who can play the 4)- amazing player at a young age
    3. Joel Embiid ( reminds me of Hakeem the dream)
    4. Marc Gasol ( Memphis to me isn't the same team without him)
    5. Andre Drummond
    6. Hassan Whiteside
    7. Dwight Howard
    8. DeAndre Jordan
    9. Al Horford ( although another guy who can play the 4)
    10. Brook Lopez
    No way though is DeAndre Jordan the best center in the NBA, i do have him in my top 10. I didn't put Anthony Davis because to me he is a PF as his main position.

    To me it comes down to what position these guys are actually playing. Pretty sure someone like Cousins plays the majority of his minutes at the 5, while someone like Davis plays the majority at the 4. Today with 4's and 5's being more interchangeable than in the past, the better phrasing would be, "Who's the best Big" not just center. But for true centers I'd have to go with: Cousins, Jordan, Towns (I know in this video at least 1 person said he was a 4, but I think of him as a 5), Whiteside, M Gasol. That would be my top 5. But if Embiid can stay healthy, keep progressing and eventually play full minutes and both back to back sets, his potential is crazy. The stats he is putting up in limited minutes is something I've never personally seen before. I'm also excited to see the continued development of guys like Valanciunas, Porzingis, Myles Turner, Dieng, Gobert, Adams, Nurkic etc.

      +David Kelly The only things against Marc are his low rebounds per game and low FG% (his TS% at 54% is not very high for an elite center).

    • @davidkelly1507
      @davidkelly1507 7 лет назад +2

      Simon you're spot on but I feel these guys overlook the things he does well, memphis are usually good team rebounders, it doesn't mean marcs not boxing out or anything just cos he's not stat chasing like westbrook. And considering he shoots more like a guard in his shot selection I don't hold his shooting percentage too harshly against him, I mean, shaqs arguing boogie but his TS% is only 56% if we're comparing this season, but for their careers it's actually Marc who shoots 56% and cousin's shooting 53%, granted boogie scores more.
      But you're probably spot on with "why" even though that might be giving too much credit to why they don't mention him, tbh I think a great deal of it is that he's still viewed as pretty "foreign" and doesn't do many interviews etc, he's not one to be in the lime light, bit like duncan in that regard. But if I want a center to make me much better on BOTH ends of the floor, I'll choose gasol.

    I agree with kg and Shaq the big men nowadays are shooting 3s a lot I miss where we had post moves and athletic centers, Mid range is fine for centers, but 3s are too much

      John Garcia but it's still upsetting that power forwards and centers upgrade their game to 3 point shooting like Serge ibaka was fine the way he was then he just upgraded to 3 point shooting, we don't really see inside scoring or post moves from nowadays big men

      Well I can agree with you to some extent. Some centers can have a small 3 point game just to add in their arsenal that doesn't they use it often but to me my fav and best centers not in order are....
      K-Towns
      Davis
      Cousins
      Whiteside
      Marc Gasol to some extent even to me he's more of a PF
      Same with Lamarcus more of a PF
      Embidd WILL be up there in fact he's if he stays healthy god lord I can't imagine

      No, he's a shooting guard. The Rockets have just been trying him out at the point guard position to see how he does, which is well. But still, he is and always have been a 2 guard

      Aldo A. No he PLAYS point guard right now. It doesn't mean he IS one

    • @Qichar
      @Qichar 7 лет назад +9

      PG is Westbrook huh? He's doing a lot for that team for sure. But man, Curry has a bad shooting night in the Finals and now everyone is hating on him.
      Westbrook Shooting: FG: 42.6% 3pt: 33.6%
      Curry: FG: 48.8% 3pt: 41.4%
      Now I know that Westbrook is KILLING it right now. He's got double the assists and more than double the rebounds. So he's doing a lot for that team, I get it. But eventually, you have to put the ball through that hoop. Curry is just a lot more efficient on offense.
      Westbrook also has double the turnovers Curry does. OKC is just playing him a lot, maybe too much, because if they don't ride him they don't even win as many games as they are winning.
      I also realize that Curry is on a much better team than Westbrook. I get that too. But if you ask me, right now, if I'd prefer to start a team with Curry or Westbrook, I'm picking Curry.
      Why? Because the rules in today's NBA favor Curry. Curry spreads the floor in a way that Westbrook does not. The ball sticks with Westbrook a little more. It's harder to build a team around Curry.
      But don't take it from me. KD thinks so too.

    • @Qichar
      @Qichar 7 лет назад +5

      Sorry of course I meant *It's harder to build a team around Westbrook.

    • @alexharris6835
      @alexharris6835 7 лет назад +3

      Qichar It probably costs a lot less to build around Westbrook. That's a guy who genuinely doesn't need another ball dominant player around. Give him one 2 way forward or skilled big (Draymond or Blake) with players that appropriately fill their roles and they'd be perennial contenders. He and KD are ball dominant players which unfortunately gave them a glass ceiling so to speak when there was no Harden to distribute. Curry with a similar roster would be very comparable to Lillard. Great but doesn't impact the game as much as Russ. I'll take Russ everyday.

    Embiid is the best on both ends of the court. I will give credit to KAT(arguably also number 1) Cousins and AD. But Embiid is playing on minutes restriction. His stats per 36 minutes are amazing. With him off the floor the sixers have the worst defense, with him on the sixers have the best defense. His impact is significant. Once he gets off of this minute restriction you'll see him put up 20+ ppg, at least 10 boards and 2-3 blocks and a steal a game.
