This is the first treehouse of horror that legit made me Laugh out loud in years. Between the babadook book burning bit and the death note kill with the lion coming out of the toilet, this is definitely top tier modern Simpsons.
Same, a lot of the other tree house of horrors came off as corny and repetitive so I stopped caring. But just for the hell of it I watched this one, but I didn't know it was going to be like this at first. I was watching another episode of The Simpsons and then I moved on to this and I assumed it was some random anime because of the animation quality change, but then when I heard Lisa talk I was like what the hell? 💀 I watched death Note so this was absolutely hilarious.
Kinda sad that "best of modern Simpsons" is when the show parodies other shows or properties. At this point, Simpsons is just vehicle for parody, unable to produce anything touching or serious on its own.
@@matiasluukkanen7718 The Treehouse of Horror episodes were frequently among the best episodes of their respective seasons, even in the height of the golden age and the Treehouse of Horror segments were usually parodies and homages of other works.
Lisa’s justiceis are selfish many times, it’s a good idea about making her play Yagami Light. Lisa is indeed a person who hates killing people on the surface, but actually writes a lot of names in Death Note. After she killed Reaper, she had to replace Reaper. What a excellent ending it is.
It was also confirmed that the tapestry with corn in the kitchen is also a nod to the corn curtains found in the original Simpsons kitchen. And yes, that picture is Grandpa
There's a big one you missed, the Shinigami Steve Johnson says murder is almost as addictive as plastic surgery. He's voiced by Hank Azaria who also does the voice of Moe Szyslak, who in S11E16 undergoes plastic surgery.
I could be mistaken, but I believe the guy on the phone with a striped tie that appears behind Lisa in the beginning shot, the one where Sherry and Terry appear, could be Seymour Skinner
2:46 - The photo on the wall near Santa's Little Helper is Grandpa (Abe Simpson) You can notice it by it being of an older looking person, glasses, and mainly by the Bolo Tie (the think around his neck/top of shirt).
Phineas is pronounced Fin-knee-us. If you've seen or read Around the World in 80's Days, its very similar to how Phileas Fogg's name is pronounced. Not a very common name. Its most associated with the cartoon Phineas and Ferb, P.T. Barnum, and Phineas Gage, who had a large iron spike impaled in his head, and somehow survived.
@2:26 I Think I Saw what Anime Homer might've looked like Back when he HAD Hair. . . in This Wedding Picture of Anime Homer & Anime Marge in the hallway with the stairs Apparently He ALSO Had Brown Hair like his Canon Yellow-skinned Counterpart. . .
4:44 oh yeah the ADHD episode! I remember that. I myself have adhd-ph and take ritalin same as Bart. Can't believe I missed that. But as soon as you pointed out it was a reference I realised what the reference was a few seconds before you pointed out that major league baseball satellite thing lol
I Definitely loved This Segment; as well as Simpsonsworld!! There's literally only ONE problem I have with Death Tome; Anime Marge just doesn't look enough like Marge without her Iconic Beehive!
Were the people Lisa killed supposed to be anybody, references to producers/people who work on the show? It seemed like a good way too see a bunch of familiar simpsons characters in Anime form, but instead it appears they were just generic character designs
They are a reference to the "American" names in a Super Famicom baseball game. The developers simply made up names that would sound "American" to Japanese players.
Ok now since the satellite gag happened again, it’d be amazing to see anime Mark McGwire looking like a Jojo or Baki character, stealing all the data and poorly putting it under his hat all shifty eyed.
2:27 The painting is also a reference to "Great Wave Off Kanagawa", a famous print by Hokusai. 0:35 I'm kind of wondering if the guy in the wheelchair is suppose to be Stephen Hawking.
It could also be a "Take That" at the Netflix adaptation, where one of the rules was "it had to be possible" and "attacked by a shark while on the toilet" was used as an example of what wouldn't work.
It was NOT animated by the team behind Death Note. Why do people keep repeating this false information? The Death Note anime was made by Studio Madhouse. A Japanese studio. This special was animated by DR Movie, a South Korean studio. DR Movie often does outsourced work, so maybe they did help with Death Note a bit when it came to in-between animation, but they definitely weren't the main studio behind the show.
Trust me in that it likely isn’t intended to make it look like Homer prayed on Marge. It could just be the anime thing where it’s just more common the wife is just more pretty then her ugly husband... Though Homer’s not ugly, but you know.
It's a common animation trope to pair a "hot"wife with a less "hot" husband. It was also done in Family Guy and even The Flintstones. Could have been done in The Fairly Oddparents, though the art style made it a little hard to tell.
Its a result of the art style. Its rather hard to make a characters age clear in Anime without going to extremes. Without something to make it clear, its often hard to figure out if a character is 16 or 60. Men are easier due to facial hair, but there isnt as much you can do with a woman.
@4:27 Wow!!! Even Krusty looks good in Anime Form. . . Seriously; Why does Every anime design with the SOLE Exception of Marge Simpson look good in this segment?!! Seriously. . . the ONLY Reason I DO NOT Care for Anime Marge's design; is simply because She doesn't just look enough like Regular Marge without her Big Blue Beehive Hairdo!! Seriously. . . Aside from Her Frail Voice; The Only way I could even tell it was Marge was due to her Hair being Blue[and Even then; Anime Characters are KNOWN for having Unusual Hair Colors like Blue, Pink, Green, Purple, etc; I.E. That picture is definitely Abe because he wears the most humiliating tie, bolo.
Lol I just gone into the comments to say that until I saw this
Insticks is a store called Just Rainsticks. It’s a store on the Springfield Squidport, was briefly shown in the season 8 episode My Sister, My Sitter
It also showed up in the Tapped Out game
This is the first treehouse of horror that legit made me Laugh out loud in years. Between the babadook book burning bit and the death note kill with the lion coming out of the toilet, this is definitely top tier modern Simpsons.

I couldn't help but notice that Lisa is wearing Light's jacket. Lisa is wearing her regular clothes but she's also wearing Light's jacket.
didn't I see this exact comment somewhere else
You know these anime designs are going to generate fan arts for decades, right?
And I say... LET THEM COME!
The fan art, or the fans?

I love how the boat painting is reinterpreted as a variation of Hokusai's Great Wave piece.
There's a big one you missed, the Shinigami Steve Johnson says murder is almost as addictive as plastic surgery. He's voiced by Hank Azaria who also does the voice of Moe Szyslak, who in S11E16 undergoes plastic surgery.
4:20 It's Just Rainsticks, one of the stores at the Squidport.
Yup this! I remember seeing it in the Simpsons Hit & Run game.
Disco Stew fits very well into the anime realm.
Can’t wait for
Attack On Homer
Grappler Bartie
One Duff(with Monkey D. Barney)
Demon Prayer (with Ned Flanders)
Lisa’s Bizarre Adventure
The fact they got the original Death Note animators to do the segment is legendary.
They didn't. Studio Madhouse isn't involved in this in any way.
I could be mistaken, but I believe the guy on the phone with a striped tie that appears behind Lisa in the beginning shot, the one where Sherry and Terry appear, could be Seymour Skinner
The Simpsons sword art online would be nice next
or he could be Lionol Huts...but it's hard to say who that person really is... 🤷♂
It could be, but Seymour Skinner is old, he has gray hair
The twins look right out of a horror movie...
Is that a canyonero being pushed into a canyon?
Makes sense to me!
Anime Lisa is modeled after a young Yeardley Smith, voice of Lisa Simpson. Not necessarily an easter egg, but a nice touch.
That photo of old Japanese man is grandpa
2:46 - The photo on the wall near Santa's Little Helper is Grandpa (Abe Simpson) You can notice it by it being of an older looking person, glasses, and mainly by the Bolo Tie (the think around his neck/top of shirt).
0:21 Ned Flanders.
I spotted Ned Flanders @0:21 and it’s pronounced Finn-eee-us
@fourfingerdiscount Whoa is this legit??!!! How do I do that??!! I don’t have telegram
Just wanna say, Lisa is nailing that jacket
4:20 Just Rainsticks.
I only remember because it's a building in Tapped Out.
Phineas is pronounced Fin-knee-us. If you've seen or read Around the World in 80's Days, its very similar to how Phileas Fogg's name is pronounced. Not a very common name. On 2:12 right next to Lisa’s head I believe it’s Luigi’s Restaurant.
@2:49
I Think that's supposed to be Anime Homer's Elderly Father; Abraham "Abe" Simpson
Thye left out Maggie :(
So sad we never saw Maggie in this one :(
You miss the "Canyonaro" television advertisement on the video billboard. The red SUV going over the cliff.
@2:26
I Think I Saw what Anime Homer might've looked like Back when he HAD Hair. . . in This Wedding Picture of Anime Homer & Anime Marge in the hallway with the stairs
Apparently He ALSO Had Brown Hair like his Canon Yellow-skinned Counterpart. . .
The picture on the Livingroom wall is definitely Grandpa Simpson he's wearing a bolo tie and glasses
Quick translation at 2:59
On the left it says Bleeding Gums Murphy. On the right, Live in Japan.

I want a Simpson Anime Version series
Is Steve Johnson not the name of Krusty’s sidekick before Bob?
It’s Moe
I think they just took a common first and last name. The joke is you'd expect a more exotic name.
The picture is definitely Abe Simpson
The guy on the wall is definitely grandpa. You can tell by the bolo tie
I just absolutely love all their anime forms. Honesty id love the Simpsons in this anime art style more
You pronounce the Phineas icecream shop as Fin-e-us.
the picture is obviously Grandpa. He's got the glasses and the bolo tie and a resemblance to Anime!Homer.
i believe "insticks" is "just rainsticks," which i only know because it's an unlockable building on the mobile game lmao.
I Definitely loved This Segment; as well as Simpsonsworld!!
There's literally only ONE problem I have with Death Tome; Anime Marge just doesn't look enough like Marge without her Iconic Beehive!
you forgot the photo going upstairs has the wedding photo of marge and homer one more thing the old Japanese man is grandpa
Yeah it's the grandpa abraham ,the man in the picture
It's weird, you know, because I never expected Abe to be bald. At least with some hair

Phineus = Finn-ee-us
Reference lmao this episode was a whole thing
So, why Maggie not appeared? And Light Yagami cameo will be the best!
Ok now since the satellite gag happened again, it’d be amazing to see anime Mark McGwire looking like a Jojo or Baki character, stealing all the data and poorly putting it under his hat all shifty eyed.
There was a Theory reference. The theory is that Light became a shinigami after he died. Lisa herself became a Shinigami, however she never died.
I think the cat is supposed to be a reference to RUclips sensation Maru the Cat.
That picture is Heisenberg
This was so random, I'm glad it happened but damn I only found out about this a couple days ago
I loved this segment. My only issue with it is that we didn't get to see Milhouse as Mikasa.
OMG😱
This what a serious simpsons look like
I like how bart downright looks like he insane with how dilated his pupils are
Fineys???
bro doesnt know what is Phineas & Ferb
The fact you don’t know that’s grandpa Simpson might disqualify you from being a Simpson fan
Disco Stu, is too old for UwU.
Mr. Burns looks like a skinny version of Ed Wuncler
here is on you missed when you see sea captain and flanders you can see sherry and terry's mother (that is what i think btw)
Hands up who would watch a full Simpsons anime series? 🖐️
Could be fun, but 1 season only
yes
I've recently finished Death Note!
I saw Krusty's anime form in one shot!
2:27 The painting is also a reference to "Great Wave Off Kanagawa", a famous print by Hokusai.
0:35 I'm kind of wondering if the guy in the wheelchair is suppose to be Stephen Hawking.
The picture on the wall is grandpa. You can tell by the necktie
I’m looking for more characters and mostly it’s about the stores in and around Springfield
1:35 canyonero ad missed.
0:06 no,it did not 👍
Arch-Bishop Samson Mapother Percy Powers Lucas Moses Wellington Richard Lionheart III: *commits crime*
Lisa: *shoots him*
Steve Johnson could be played by Jim Carrey in the Live-Action remake😅
no sneed...
Fin-E-S.

The most disturbing part to me is that Marge looks WAY younger than Homer , she looks like a teenager
Trust me in that it likely isn’t intended to make it look like Homer prayed on Marge. It could just be the anime thing where it’s just more common the wife is just more pretty then her ugly husband... Though Homer’s not ugly, but you know.
Didn't you see the bags in her eyes. don't be weird.
Marge looks way better lol

YOU HAVE A VOICE?!
Simpsons should switch to this style
Picture is grandpa Simpson
Finieas
Is it anime or cartoon?
So you're idea for a video was to just read the backgrounds (poorly) and call it a day?
Why is Ned Flanders that fat?! XD
You can also see Homer Simpson in a cameo, it's a reference to the Simpsons
It's pronounced Finn-ee-as
@4:27
