    Hi Danny,
    This video was super helpful for a beginner like me! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into it. I have a Fidelity IRA account and am trying to learn more about the "positions" page because the chart is really confusing to me with all the percentages. I can't even tell what my return has been on my account. 🤦‍♀ I think a video about the positions page and the overview, dividend view, and fund performance tabs would be so helpful for this!! Thanks again!

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate your support! To answer your question, etfs are best for taxable accounts and my personal opinion mutual funds for non-taxable. If you have mutual funds in taxable accounts you will be charged taxes even if you don’t sell the fund. It it truly up to you and I can not give you financial advice but I say what I have said based on facts and tax saving considerations. You also only need one Roth IRA. Simpler the better. I hope this helps!

      Hey there, thank you so much for your kind words, it means a lot to me! As far as your question, there are multiple ways you can do this and it definitely comes in very handy. Below are a couple options you may be interested in using.
      1. My favorite and only one I really use for this is Portfolio Visualizer:
      Direct link to compare specific funds: www.portfoliovisualizer.com/fund-performance#analysisResults
      Direct link to see the historical performance of an ideal portfolio you want to build: www.portfoliovisualizer.com/backtest-portfolio
      Note: If this doesn't suit you well enough, below are a couple more options to try out instead (all free).
      Vanguard: personal.vanguard.com/us/funds/vanguard/compare?navigatingFrom=5
      Financial Times: markets.ft.com/data/funds/us/compare?search=fxaix
      I appreciate you for watching my content, hope this helps. Thanks again!

    This was a great video. Quick question; is there a way to track your dividends in the fidelity app where you see what’s coming in each month and annually?

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hey great question! So from my experience, the computer's layout is way easier to view but you can get details on dividends on the phone as well.
      1. Go to the home tab.
      2. click on the account you want
      3. click on activity (middle of screen with right arrow)
      4. Under history, click on "all transactions"
      5. from there you can select dividends/interest
      6. you can also change the time period for when it was earned to check.
      7. you can also search specific investment.
      Other approach:
      - you can look at your tax forms which will be a bit more confusing to look into but can give you a better idea on how things are being taxed.
      1. click top right account
      2. tax forms.
      3. consolidate form 1099
      Hope this helps! :)

    Hi Danny. Thank you so much for your free content and making it readily available to individuals like me who lack financial literacy. I apologize if this has already been asked and feel free to point me to a video, but how might your video suggestions change if someone is working with a traditional/rollover IRA account on Fidelity? At about 13:26 you mention not using particular feature on a taxable account which I assume is referring to the 401K/Traditional IRAs. Thank you again for not gatekeeping information and sharing the wealth (of knowledge--that is!).

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! Thank you for watching my content. Your support means a lot to me. As far as your question, I just mentioned how ETFs are more tax efficient, giving you more control over your taxes. This specifically refers to accounts you have to pay taxes on every year. With mutual funds, you will have taxes triggered without even selling your fund. ETFs usually do not since they are structured differently. A thought to consider and research more before purchasing. I have mentioned this in multiple videos and will eventually make an entire video on the concept. I hope this helps and thanks again for watching my content!

    Thank you for all the great info. I’m trying to learn how to navigate Fidelity and my Simple IRA. The money automatically goes into an account that earns no interest. When I try to move it to an EFT it makes me chose a plan and there are four choices. Not of them say I’ll do it myself thank you. Vanguard was so easy to learn and navigate

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! So when you transfer money it will go directly toward your account. If you have a money market fund like SPAXX set up, you will earn interest on any cash sitting. If that's not set up, I would get a money market fund as your core position. What are the four EFT options you are stuck on? If the account is self managed you should be able to control everything yourself! I hope this helps.

It is the SPAXX. But stays at $0 day after day. The fidelity guy I called said the interest goes in once a month (?) Not at all like vanguard that was so easy to learn

    Not that I learned anything new (I am a seasoned investor, and my acnt w Fdty goes back to 1990…), but I actually searched online what is that “investment” left bar category Fidelity added recently; so I guess I have to call them (Yeh- I rather spent 20 min searching online than calling anyone and wait for a rep with the background music on…)
    Overall, if more young people like you would have put the effort to learn (and actually invest) the financial system, we will all be much better off :)))

    Ok, so I just created a general brokerage account on fidelity to get started. However, it seems to be completely useless as the app claims I cannot deposit any money through checks or an electronic transfer. Would a Fidelity GO account allow electronic transfers or is there a better account for someone who is just dipping their feet?

    What are your thoughts on target date funds? Just set it an forget it? Starting to learn , want to up rollover an ira with fidelity

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  3 месяца назад

      Target date funds are great for a majority of investors that want to set and forget without the need to research or control much of the portfolio. I personally avoid just because I like having more control over my portfolio. They also have higher expense ratios than index funds and over the long term for me, I'd rather do my own through index funds. Comes down to personal position and preference.

    Danny, I know this can be a pretty vague question. But what if I'm to keep this portfolio you have recommended for 10 years. Would you recommend to keep an eye and try to sell when is high and buy when is low, or just keep it in there and let it grow until when i can take out my gains which will be for my retirement.
    Thank you! I have learned a lot in your playlist and just went ahead and created my portfolio based on your info!

      Hey! Thank you for watching my content and your kind words.
      In regard to the portfolio, I personally prefer to avoid changing positions unless need be. I definitely recommend researching and understanding what you are about to be buying before you do and think of it in the long term perspective. Lastly, I would avoid timing the market with buying and selling at certain points. In the end, it is less likely to work out in your favor.
      Hope this helps and thanks again!

As far as management, if you spend the time or have experience to know what you're investing into, self directed and avoiding extra fees to me is the better financial decision. For any retirement accounts I do recommend Fidelity. For other creative portfolio/investing I would try out M1 and see if you like it. • @DannySully
      @DannySully  4 месяца назад

      Great question! So the investment you would have already purchased can be seen in your positions tab on your account. To get more of that investment you will have to create a new purchase. Once the purchase goes through, it will add the amount bought to what you already have owned. For example, 1 share of apple owned 2 months ago. Buy 1 share of apple today. Your positions will now show 2 shares of apple that you own.
      Since you are new, you may benefit from a different fidelity video I created. In the description you can see a timeline for different sections if you want to skip around to what you prefer. Hi Danny, Is there anything in specific that I (retail investor) need to be aware of before accepting the "real time quotes fidelity subscriber agreement" other than i shouldn't be using the market data for business purposes. The subscription agreement is 12 pages, so just making sure there isn't anything that might get one into trouble by accepting it. Thank you!

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  5 месяцев назад

      Subscriber agreements are legal contracts or terms of service that outline the rights and responsibilities of the user (subscriber) and the service provider. In the context of real-time quotes, a subscriber agreement might detail the terms under which a user can access and use real-time market data provided by Fidelity.
      Fidelity is one of the largest brokerage firms there is and there should be no harm accepting this. It is legal terms for the information they publish for you to receive and "use". I'm not a legal advisor so you must do your own research. Thanks for watching my content, it means a lot!

  • @JoshuaMNielsen
    @JoshuaMNielsen 3 месяца назад

    Thanks for the video! One question I have is whether you have a video or can make one explaining how Fidelity reports the Expense Ratios on the Fees tab for a given fund (from their NetBenefits portal). I am confused at why there are sometimes two or three values listed (gross, net, and something else I've forgotten), and I cannot tell if I should be adding them together (which in some cases would make an appalling ER) or if somehow the two below the one on top are breakdowns of the number above (however if that is the case the math doesn't always add up and match). From what I've read the 'net' value is what I actually pay. But I want to make sure.

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  3 месяца назад +1

      The net expense ratio you see is the cost after waivers, trading costs, and reimbursements are factored in. This is what you actually end up paying. I would not worry as majority of these are very close and if you stick to index funds these should also be very low compared to active ones. You also do not need to add these together. Hope this helps :)

    • @JoshuaMNielsen
      @JoshuaMNielsen 3 месяца назад

      @@DannySully Thank you. I found an example of what I was thinking of which I still am puzzled at. Fidelity's stock fund DOXGX has four things under "Expenses and Fees":
      Exp Ratio (Gross): 0.46%
      Exp Ratio (Net): 0.41%
      Contractual Exp Waiver (Dated) : 0.05%
      Management Fee: 0.45%
      The Net and Wavier value equal the Gross, I see. But where is the Management Fee coming from and why is it 0.01% less than the Gross?

      @DannySully  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey I can not say exactly for you, but I for taxable accounts the first understanding is to use ETFs over any type of Mutual Funds. Thereafter, it is truly whatever makes you comfortable and satisfied to hold long term and not even think to sell or change positions. From my experience, index funds provide me additional guidance to not buy/sell often and i've noticed over time that has been what works best for my money to truly grow and build the wealth everyone talks about. I also believe having a plan for yourself and a range for how much allocation you want toward each sector or type of security is important. All in all, understanding where your money is invested and your position to relieve stress, enjoy life, and have a portfolio that works for you and not vice versa are some of my thoughts. Certain changes could be due to simplicity, aggressive investing style for future results, or just personal preference based on my own position and/or what I felt the average viewer could benefit from. In regard to changing your positions, I personally track all of my investments through a spreadsheet (private newsletter) and that allows me to get a feel for changes I want to make when the time comes. FYI, I don't change my positions, at least as far as selling positions. I prefer to buy what I think I will want long term.

    Excuse my ignorance but I don’t know anything about investing. I just opened a brokage account a week ago. Do I have to do anything else with it like, buy /sell or whatever. Or is it already doing all that automatically? I only opened it with $50 because I have no experience. I see it’s $50.01 now. I also opened an index fund account with $200. And the other question is when do I see if it made or loose money. Sorry for being so ignorant of all this. Any answer is appreciated.

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  5 месяцев назад

      Hey no worries! So when you open an account and deposit money, you have to then purchase the investments such as index funds or individual stocks yourself, etc. There are ways to set up automatically to do this going forward as I mentioned in the video but as you first create the account you have to buy / sell on your own until you set up automatic transfers, etc. To tell if you made or lose money, if you go to the positions tab, you will see the returns that each investment in your account has performed and whether the value has gone up or down. From there, you will see the entire account value and that is how much you have based on all of your investments. I love the questions and hope this helps! Thanks for watching :)

    • @DannySully
      @DannySully  2 месяца назад

      In a regular investing account, stocks are subject to capital gains taxes when they are sold at a profit. The rate of taxation depends on how long the stocks were held: short-term for assets held less than a year (taxed at ordinary income rates) and long-term for those held longer than a year (taxed at reduced rates). 0 15 and 20% depending on the bracket. Hope this helps!
