Agreed, 4ball mills mess is possibly more difficult than 5ball cascade. I started learning 4b mills almost 10 months ago and I'm still working on it. Dude, I finally learned 534 in mills mess!!! THAT took forever! soooo confusing... but yeah, still working on that as well... Awesome tutorial Al, so beautifully filmed/edited and explained. You are without a doubt the king of free online juggling tutorial vids!!! keep making more!
This is completely perfect. I've been searching the internet for a while now, looking for an explanation that actually makes sense. The number of ways that you describe it makes it easier to learn, because there are so many ways of approaching it. Thank you very much, now to practice this for a year.
Don't mind the guy below me, he doesn't know what he's talking about. This really was a great tutorial. I really didn't know at all how to begin this trick, but now i do. Thanks. Happy juggling.
I learned 5 ball cascade much faster than I am learning this monster......I take long periods without trying it because it is so frustrating to me even with all these great tuts. Your pattern is really perfect looking dude :)
Man, your tutorials are just the best! I've actually started practicing this before watching the video with help from a friend, and I already managed to get a few rounds right, but I don't really know what I'm doing there yet. Your video is helping a lot with that, so thanks!
Wow! That is Effing spectacular! its gonna take me so long to learn this trick! I really like your method of teaching, its better than any other teacher i've seen on youtube (juggling wise). you rock!
Greetings from Central América (Costa Rica)
Beautiful pattern, well juggled. I totally agree with your comment about the difficulty. I can do 5 ball cascade and 80 or so throws 6 ball half shower, but I still can't get a solid 4 ball mess.
that was absolutly brilliant m8! very well explained! i will have to watch it several more times to understand the trick !!! haha keep up the good work!
wow! okay, well the good news is that I had already correctly figured out the pattern, i just couldn't do it :P but you had some reeeeally helpful stuff! like the 2 balls in one hand and how to go into the trick. and your 3 ball cross armed 441 thingy, i'll need to learn that cuz i looove 441 and i haven't tried that variation yet. well thank you so much for this! by far the best 4b tut i've seen. i'll work on it at IJA! :]
this is more difficult then the 5 ball cascade... O.o! I am already learning 5 ball cascade for 5 months now. While within 2 weeks i could almost run the 4b mills mess solid! Proves im weird again.
Nice tutorial, I shall get on this trick straight away. By the way, have you ever considered making a reverse mills mess tutorial, as it would be greatly appreciated, and with your tutorial style it would be easy for us mere mortals to learn it.
@drumersrule funny thing about the 5 ball is that once I started working on it, I started to learn some pretty difficult tricks easier. seems like something as tough as the 5 ball makes other things easier, so I'd keep working on the 5, then go back to other tricks, with the 4b mills' I'd make sure 2 balls stay in each/same hand, if you got it that quick, you could be switching balls/hands and not noticing, I have 2 different colors so I can keep track.
Maaaaan, I can do it for 20 catches if Im lucky, but most of the time, the balls just collide... WHYYYYY lol To be specific, the under throws collide with the balls as they are being thrown up... It's like the room for error is so small! T____T
The bad thing is that this trick must enter your muscle memory by repeating the inverse fountain with the under arm trow. I reccomend doing one side then the other, after that try doing it without an inverse fountain in between.
Beautifully clear and focused presentation! Thanks for this video, it was an absolute joy to watch. Super good slow-motions and stills - great job! (And yes, a beautiful and consistent pattern as well.) So if I understood correctly, the five ball Mill's mess will eventyally also be just three throws/side?
I can't do a 5 ball Mills Mess. :P Anyway, if you know how to do the 4 ball version, you should be able to work out how the 5 ball version works. (the hand movements are exactly the same for all numbers of props)
WELL all you need to do is learn this, then 5 cascade then 6 fountain and reverse fountain then 5 ,6 mills mess. Then work on 8 fountains 9 cascade. Practice 10 fountain in both directions and then learn mills mess.
This is definitely, but i dont think nearly as difficult as 5 ball cascade. I've just started learning this today and I already have almost 2 full arounds. i've been casually working on 5 balls for the past month or so and i still don't have it. Maybe I should just take a day and work on my 5 ball as well.
If you did it synchronous, I don't think it would be called Mills Mess any more. It would just be a 4 ball synchronous cross-arm... thing..? I don't know, why not give it a try?
There are some people who can just think "do Mills'" and their hands do it. But they don't really need a tutorial. Most of those prerequisites sound right, though 4b in one hand is taking it a bit far XD
It should actually be "Mills' Mess" as the trick was invented by Steve Mills. Cool videos though man, you're a good juggler. By the way... The music is tragic
4 in one hand!! hahahahhahahahahehehehehahahahahehehehe hahahaharhhrhrhrahahahahrhrhrhrhahahaahhe heheehahhaheheehahehaheahehahehahe ahhhhhhem* sorry you just made me wee a little bit there!

Great tutorial. Hard trick. Damn.

you rock!
I could do a whopping 3 catches before, your video has me up to 9, and I *understand* the pattern, so I can go all the way now. Huge thanks!
I don't think I'll need to consult anyone else's videos to learn this. Fantastic.
Impressive tutorial. The most professional I've seen todate. Thanks for the time and effort.
I agree, this is easily one of the clearest, most helpful juggling tutorials ever, thanks!
Thanks for this tutorial
my current record for 4 ball mills mess is 120 catches
This is the best tutorial I could find for 4 ball mills mess

Very instructive and well thought out.

wow! okay, well the good news is that I had already correctly figured out the pattern, i just couldn't do it :P

I'm working on this and 4B shower right now. Love the multiplex entry.
You could try siteswaps like 7531, 7441, and 6451. I also recommend trying the 4 ball shower if you haven't learned that already.
great tutorial. i can always use some tips on this frustrating pattern.
this is more difficult then the 5 ball cascade... O.o!
I am already learning 5 ball cascade for 5 months now. While within 2 weeks i could almost run the 4b mills mess solid! Proves im weird again.
A well made tutorial,thanks
I'll try do learn that stuff
very good tutorial ! very thorough and clear ! Thanks
i love your videos man, amazing work :D keep it up!!!
Nice tutorial, I shall get on this trick straight away. By the way, have you ever considered making a reverse mills mess tutorial, as it would be greatly appreciated, and with your tutorial style it would be easy for us mere mortals to learn it.
Very nice.
The best tutorial ever ! Thank you !
very good tutorial, i know how to do it, but i like the transitions, particularly the split with 2 balls in one hand : )
GREAT tutorial.. THANKS

i like ur tutorial:P 4 balls mills mess is my fav trick:)
good tutorial! thanks!
@TheVimtoMoustache Yes they are, the only place you can get them from is the website as far as I know.
Maaaaan, I can do it for 20 catches if Im lucky, but most of the time, the balls just collide... WHYYYYY lol To be specific, the under throws collide with the balls as they are being thrown up... It's like the room for error is so small! T____T
You are awesome.
This is great tutorial. I can do 2 or 3 rounds of 4 balls MM after 2 days of training.
Only after 2 days, wtf???? I've been working on it for months and the balls still collide T__T
I can't do this easy trick! Why?It's been 4 years and the result is nothing.
It isn't an easy trick though! =)
The bad thing is that this trick must enter your muscle memory by repeating the inverse fountain with the under arm trow. I reccomend doing one side then the other, after that try doing it without an inverse fountain in between.

I can't do a 5 ball Mills Mess. :P

How good at 4 balls were you before you moved onto 5?
If you did it synchronous, I don't think it would be called Mills Mess any more. It would just be a 4 ball synchronous cross-arm... thing..? I don't know, why not give it a try?
So how do you transiction out of the pattern? o.o

@senftorte1 11 ball mills mess
Thank u so much but it's still gonna be hard
nice! ...and still too tricky for me
beatzbuster!
More difficult than the 5 ball cascade? Thought it might just click and wish you hadn't said that.
How is it now?
Why are you requesting a tutorial then?
It's possible but it's more difficult than the 4 ball Mills Mess.
It should actually be "Mills' Mess" as the trick was invented by Steve Mills. Cool videos though man, you're a good juggler.

4 in one hand!! hahahahhahahahahehehehehahahahahehehehe
