Really appreciate your appreciation of Steve Cropper's simplicity. What you said about the E string lick is so true: sometimes a little goes a long way. Regarding the Telecaster, I too think the middle sounds best. The rosewood fretboard looks so cool with banana split body! Thanks for posting :)
Hi Hoodrio, thanks for the vidéo, i really like Steve Cropper too... but i prefer playing the E differently for the rythm work (not: O-2-2-1-0-0 then X-X-X-4-X-4 then X-X-X-2-X-2), for my playing it suits me better with: 0-7-9-9-X-X then X-X-9-9-9-X then X-0-7-6-7-X it makes only 2 positions and it's great for funky rythm style... try it ! ;-) thanks again, your vidéo helped me a lot ! Thanks to Steve to gave us his great notes, not a guitar "heroe" but so good for my ears... ;-) , he made Otis music so "alive", emotional... thanks !!! ;-)
Excellent, thank you very much. One suggestion, if one wants to play it in G and make it just as easy as in E, then simply install a capo on the third fret.
Thanks. For at least part of the demo I was actually in the middle position. I also had some compression going on--pretty much the only effect on the ME-70 that I liked (I sold that pedal after a month or so).
great lesson! the only thing i miss : which scales fit in? its in the key of E but which scale's does the guitarist use? how to improvise a bit. but overall great lesson!!
I shuda said smoother if you just use the hi strings , don't try to land a full g chord . also , is that a tele w/ a hybrid tele/ strat bridge ??? WOW !!! awesome . I'm fooling around attempting some franken-tele's ...was wanting to put a P-90 in , thinking of a Gibson type bridge there but a strat whammy would be better , plus more mass too .
You do such a nice job of simplifying all of your lessons for us living room guitarists.
Telesaurus Thanks for the kind feedback!
@@Hoodrio I refer to this video and your George Thorogood, slide without the slide video. Again, nice job.
Brilliant! I love the history of the song being spoken about too! In my opinion one of the best guitar lessons I've seen on here!
Was surfing on You-tube.. Found your site.. Found another student.. Excellent teaching...
man, what an excellent explanation of how steve cropper plays. Thanks and thanks again for sharing your knowledge of Mr Cropper's techniques.
Quality tutorials and playing experience shows through!
Thank you very much!
try playing a preview before your tutorials.. so we will know what were about to learn.
and it's nice to hear you play
Great lesson and good to know little background history lesson.

That's good advice, and I have tried to do that on a number of my lessons. Hope you can hang in there on the lessons that start with talk.
I'm guessing you like Cropper. Simplicity is indeed the key to many doors.
Cropper used a zippo lighter for that slide during the "Play it Steve" part. He sat it on his knee and used it when the time came.
Super great lesson on this song. Thanks for doing that and you got it dead on.
Great lesson! I think it was nice of you to share history!

Cool lick. Thanks for the lesson.
Good lesson was hoping to hear you play it in it's entirely at the end of the video so we can hear all the parts connected together
Nice and simple explanation. Barry
Saw the link on the FDP. Thanks, I learned a song I've been wanted to learn for a long time. Great!

It's a "vintage white" Fender Telecaster.
Excellent Tut! Thanks a ton!
It is a Trem King fixed bridge vibrato system. Check out my demo "Fender Esquire with Jerry Donahue Pickup and Trem King."
great job!

loved it
this is a really great tune....sounds better in G tho .
don't you find it much smoother on the rhythm chord riff in G also ?
@zeligtk The Blue Pup ruled in the PJ--awesome choice if you can afford it.
There's not much to set on a Pro Junior. I probably had the volume at 2-3 and the tone straight up. Thanks.
bring it up to the lower strings sounds good to good vid
saludos desde mexico gran rola...
Actually its a really great lesson.
Just read that he used a Zippo lighter for the slide lick and had to sit while playing.
Great tips Great price! But brother ya gotta stop Talking! Get to the Meat!
YESSSS!!!
I wanted to stick around but COME ON MAN GET TO IT!!
Take the Cropper approach to your tutorials... less is more.
ace
Thanks for the video lesson, but the rhythm you are using for the verse is not the same as what Steve Cropper plays.
Great lesson but really didn't care all that much about the background history
I appreciate the lesson but this video didnt need to be 14 mins long thank you sir
