It is the jumping man, but it's her face on the jumping man...also, can't help but notice the jumping man, the moth frog, and Sarah's face removal all have some kind of proboscis
@@milesbbop9563 No the post said that the jumping man, frog moth and Sarah's face when she "takes it off" all have the same thing. Not that they saw the frog moth in this scene.
Thanks for posting this! I'm not 100% convinced I see Sarah here but the phrase "Back away,Michael, back away" is fascinating enough. Seems Mike is being held at bay here.
Great! Carlton Lee Russel's white-painted face (as an old man) is even more scarier than in FWWM and the continuing transition between his face and Sarah reminds me the awesome scene of INLAND EMPIRE, when Nikki shot The Phantom just outside Room 47. _"Back away a little, Michael. Back, back, keep goin' back, it gets darker and darker."_
Also David's assistant was named Michael Barile. Also a grip was named Michael Rodriguez. These are the only three known people that he could have been talking to at the moment.
Roby Ortichella if you notice when Leland kills Maddie, Sarah is completely passed out(almost like the house put her to sleep/amnesia) and it's like it never happened in her head
So cool. Thanks for this. We'll talk about it in detail on our podcast next week. Of course, I am kind of disappointed that it isn't backwards talk like I first thought/hoped I was hearing, but instead seems to likely be just Lynch talking to his assistant or something.
They know that it's the Jumping Man, but the scene, at its regular speed, goes by so fast, folks may not have caught that Sarah Palmer's face is mixed in there too.
LOL A lot of people don't know the difference between TJM and Pierre Tremond/Chalfont. And even better- a lot of people think that this is the latter. Jesus Christ…
The Jumping Man and the little boy both wore the white masks like commedia dell'arte masks. They both jumped around mischievously. The little boy also removed his mask to reveal an ape face briefly. When Sarah Palmer was harassed by that guy in the bar in season 3, she removed her face like a mask, showing grinning teeth with darkness (like a cheshire cat, maybe?) I think she may have been channelling the Jumping Man and/or the little boy.
Holy shit... I did NOT expect to actually see Grace Zabriskies (Sarah's) face here... 0:25 and 0:27... pause the video, then click on these time stamps... you'll see her too! Nice fucking catch! We have theorized now for a while that the "Jumping Man" and Sarah Palmer have some kind of connection... and this does little to answer any questions. But at least it confirms the connection theory! I think it represents the "mask" that Sarah is wearing... or the fact that she IS the mask for whatever lodge entity is possessing her... which I believe is Laura's doppleganger.
I think I hear, "Back a way there, might go ...back, back, back a way ... back, back, keep going back ... you'll get time with her." Then the last couple of phrases basically repeat again. So, who is "her?" Judy? The mother? Someone else? If this means Judy, that probably knocks out the Garland Briggs theory.
Do you think maybe the back away michael could be lynch directing the camera man? It doesn't sound like lynch all that much, but I figured it's worth noting.
it seems like more than one face is being superimposed on the mask. I definitely see Sarah, but then there are like two other faces it rotates through, maybe? It's the eyebrows that are catching my eye.
I see old Sarah, young Laura and maybe Leland (but Sarah is however predominant). In a couple of frames, I think I also see old David Bowie (Next Day/Blackstar era) but maybe it's only a very distorted version of Sarah.
Possibly. Or if this growing conspiracy has any merit re: the music being meta-content on Lynch's feelings, Michael could be MTR: brightestyoungthings.com/articles/twin-peaks-the-return-theory-2-not-anymore I am seeing that those two had something more to collaborate on but only two lyrical pieces ever got stuck in TP's universe: (The Perfect Drug in Lost Highway, 20 years ago, and She's Gone Away, in The Return). Funny that the former is a song TR dislikes for the same strengths Lynch apparently saw and when he pitched the first song he was procured to write for the centerpiece/Part 8, Lynch rejected it, wanting something more esoteric. Nothing has changed. Though, as I said, I feel the Roadhouse gigs are both relevant to the story lyrically and Lynch/Frost's pursuit. This may refer to the Mike within Twin Peaks we know, but he was never "Michael".
I still don't think Sarah Palmer is Judy (and btw, it was never "confirmed" like so many sites wrongly state, so don't come at me with that). But I do think she was possessed by SOMETHING from the Black Lodge. Maybe this guy? Would explain why they set him up in FWWM, plus the imagery of the white mask mirrors the way Sarah removes her face later. I think trying to convince the viewer that she's JUDY is just misdirection, to make them miss THIS connection.

Sarah is possessed by Judy and Judy herself is the black lodge. That’s why all of these dark entities flow through Sarah, because they were born in the lodge and are aspects of Judy.
What's your evidence that it is Twitchy(Judy) that is possessing Sarah? Or that Twitchy is a primordial evil entity, or whatever the consensus is on Twitchy? I'm not trying to be a bitch here or anything, just truly having a difficult time finding the evidence to what everyone seems to believe about Twitchy.
If we believe Twin Perfect's theory (and I do) that Twin Peaks is an intentionally meta television show, and the Jumping Man is a symbol of editing... I wonder what the significance is for Sarah to be "wearing" the Jumping Man. The voice also sounds like directing, so it's seems to me something all to do with television production.
It is the jumping man, but it's her face on the jumping man...also, can't help but notice the jumping man, the moth frog, and Sarah's face removal all have some kind of proboscis
In the "lodge realm", the frog moth is the jumping man
What time is the frogmoth? I don’t see it.
@@milesbbop9563 The frogmouth isn't in this clip, it's in Episode 8, it notably crawls into Sarah's mouth when she's like 15, remember?

Literally if you stop at 0:35 you can see Sarah's face
That's someone telling the camera operator to move back... not Lynch's voice... could be Frost.
And Sarahs' face is 100% on screen at 0:25 and 0:27.
That's Lynch directing the actor. 100% sure of it

It may be noted that the chief lighting technician on The Return was named Michael LaViolette... could it be David Lynch talking to him on set?
Also David's assistant was named Michael Barile. Also a grip was named Michael Rodriguez. These are the only three known people that he could have been talking to at the moment.
Man those few frames I did actually catch her face. Super subtle, not exactly sure how this was supposed to be noticed!! Super creepy tho
I always wondered what Sarah did while Leland did what he did
Roby Ortichella if you notice when Leland kills Maddie, Sarah is completely passed out(almost like the house put her to sleep/amnesia) and it's like it never happened in her head
Benjamin Connor She passed out because Leland gave her a glass of drug-laced milk.
I remeber that. In FWWM, Leland with that face.
He druged her also for Laura's rapes ?
Leland always sedated her at night before doing his BOB things , watch FWWM.
You can briefly see what appears to be the mask of TJM behind Sarah’s face in the bar scene as well.
this look really good. thank you.
Can't believe Leaping Larry is back
skatinghippo366 you made my day
The voice sounds like Lynch directing. Was there anyone named Michael in the cast? I imagine so.
Well there's MIKE, but as far as main actors go, there's only Michael Horse and Michael Cera
Michael J Anderson plays The Man from Another Place. Can’t think of any other Michaels though so it may be him
Could be a cameraman
@@BorisBentley Michael J Anderson doesn't appear in the return, though?
in the crew list of S3 there is a Michael LaViolette. he's the gaffer. (crew member of the Camera and Electrical Department)
