Stupid question from someone who knows nothing about electronic music. What in the world are they doing with all these controls? They always seem so busy adjusting dials and hitting buttons but what is actually being done?
A very simple answer is that they're matching the speed of the next track with the current one playing so it fades in seamlessly (called beatmatching). Step 2: when its time to transition they do extra finger work to fade in/fade out basically
