  • In celebration of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori / Māori Language Week 2022, we’ve released a series of highlight videos from this year’s Matariki Festival closing event, Te Korakora!
Discover or relive the magic of Te Korakora online for the first time! Brought to Tāmaki Makaurau by Auckland Council, the concert was a night of music, dance and remembrance under the stars. Te Korakora starred a talented line up of Aotearoa artists; La Coco, Mokomokai, Majic Paora, AJA, Kings and Trinity Roots - a genre bending showcase of contemporary Māori music.
The concert launched with the righteous soul/gospel of Ngāti Kahu, Ngāruahine, Papa Sataua, award-winning songstress La Coco, followed by the dark and unapologetic hip hop of Mokomokai.
Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei were represented through the waiata of Majic Paora, featuring a piece written especially for Matariki.
The magic continued with Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Āti Awa ki Whakarongotai, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou, singer-songwriter AJA, who was joined on stage by Meeting House records, stablemates Mara TK and Mā, to the delight of audiences.
The consummate professional, hip hop and RnB artist Kings, came out firing on all cylinders, once again showcasing his prowess as a live performer.
The evening closed with the iconic, haunting rhythms of Trinity Roots.
Music, melodies, tones, rhythms and stories uniquely Māori, distinctly Aotearoa.
    Mānawatia a Matariki!
