It's kind of an exploit to get the RM stage weapons by clearing the stage twice (once without touching the stage powerup, to successfully clear the 2 weapon removers in/before the boss door, then picking up the weapon at the start of that particular stage), but you lose so much time reclearing stages a second time for each one you want to take out of the stage, that I can't call it cheese because it automatically takes longer than not getting them. XD
However, none of the boss weaknesses of any of the bosses include these weapons, so it will only make some strats available (at the cost of clearing the stage the weapon you want is in twice, in the main case of usefulness Guts Arm, in order to cheese yellow devil by making a platform to avoid his attacks)
It was unfortunate to see you lose the key because you died a few times on Bomb Man and started getting impatient. Either way, this was intended to be 1 level of a small pack (of 4ish levels), where it was only going to require 1 green key from MM1 and MM2 each to proceed, making choosing the stages you were most familiar with the way to go, but due to a lack of completed levels and the decision to have the losers revenge match, this level ended up being used in the race as a clear all 4 stages the fastest stand-alone level.
