  • Plastic shrinkage cracking occurs when concrete is placed in hot and dry environments. This typically occurs in the summer when placing flatwork or slabs, sidewalks, pavements, and bridge decks. These fibers are unsightly and they decrease the durability of the concrete. This video shows evidence that microsynthetic fibers can be used in low dosages to stop plastic shrinkage cracking in this concrete. This is shown with a novel test setup that uses box fans and heat lamps.
This video is a part of a series of videos that will focus on reducing the cracking within concrete.
