    For those who are confused on why he doesn't start with a bald guideline is because that method is a somewhat beginners method. It leaves too much lines to work with; he says multiple times he starts with higher guards to control the fade.. it's his "secret" to a blurry fade

    • @Mike-hy8cs
      @Mike-hy8cs Год назад +1

      You can do this fading up also. Its just preference. He actually "wasted" some time by using this fade down method cause he ended up having to push the fade up higher to lighten it up more because he didnt go high enough with certain lengths the first time. Fading down is a great method but unless you fully master it.. On these lower type fades you will end up taking more time because you have to really know how high to go with every step or you run the risk of having to do the fade basically twice instead of once then detail.. it ends up being fade twice then detail instead of doing your steps once then detail. hope that makes sense.

    • @tuesday0846

      it's not a beginner method it's just preference. Whatever order you do it in or where you put the guides it's still the same techniques at the end of the day

      Eevee His Blend came out dope! But definitely not advanced. He used the 1 1/2 to blend from the 2 guard down to the 1, then did more steps just to remove it with the half guard in the same exact spot. Not advanced just extra.

    • @eevee4408
      @eevee4408 4 года назад

      LOYALTMAFIA23 well i disagree every fade includes those numbers. the most important part of a fade. second the technique is advance cause when you usually start cutting you fade up wards which seems easier for people when learning. downwards is a bit trickery due to people can’t see exactly what they are doing and get lost in process for example they are not sure if it’s a 1 guard or a 1/16 in that area due to not having guidelines.

      There were unnecessary steps.. there's no need to use the lever for #1 1/2 ( white guard ) because
      it's a blending guard. With the #1 guard, you don't need to put the lever in the middle, just open and close.

    First of all, this is C L E A N ! 🔥
    For us newbies, can someone explain why this method of fading down would be more beneficial than what’s typically taught? That would be starting with bald line and moving up from there.
    In this video he seems to repeat everything twice. Any input? Thanks!

    • @Mike-hy8cs
      @Mike-hy8cs 4 года назад +2

      Yeah so this technique he is using is the really safe way of keeping your low fade really low and retaining as much bulk as possible. You can still do this fading up or using other methods but you run the risk of taking the fade too high.
      The first steps he does is just getting rid of bulk with his guidelines and then fading the guidelines out by fading down essentially. He goes through it again to detail the fade since its a compressed fade you have to detail it a lot and spread the blend out just enough so it doesnt end up looking like a soup bowl. He would rather control the bulk and get the darkness he wants and fade into that darkness by detailing with shorter guards using corners using the heel of the blade with the half guard as well so it doesnt push the fade too high.
      Me personally i just take a 1.5 open where i want the hair to be short at fade down with the 1.5 to closed. Make my skin line with your clippers closed so you have more room to work with. Then i just create a half guard blade open guideline 2 finger width then i just fade down from that down to the skin line i made with clipper closed. Only step left is to connect half guard open with 1.5 closed which should be easy. 1 guard open then closed.
      Then you just use your mirrors and take a step back and look at the fade from all angles. There are going to be dark spots in a very compressed fade. Now you just use the 1, .5, or blade open to remove dark spots in the fade. Not digging in but using light pressure, corners, and the heel of the blade to get them out without making patches or holes in the fade. Easier said than done but this fade is literally all details. You can use thinning shears as well to lighten certain areas up or make the bulk blend into the clippers better like he did in the video.
      The system you use is just to control the bulk and get the hair to the length you want it at. The actual fade is in the details for this haircut. These fades will take more time to do than a regular fade even for a experienced barber.

    I'm a barber, I don't have the best experience but I think you complicate yourself by starting with the 1. Because later when you use the 0.5 guard you went high as the 1 and then you had to use the 1 more higher. Personally I prefer to start with the half guard making the first guide line! Even though, you could manage that and the result was very smooth! Congratulations

    • @Mike-hy8cs

    • @renzoviteri

      If I’m not mistaken, the 1/2 guideline should be established with the lever open (no guard), and the 1/2 guard should be used only to blend into the 1 on top. I read somewhere that half and 1 and a half guards are blending guards and not to be used to establish lines. Cheers!

    I’m sure you could have made a guide with a 1 1/2 where you want the fade to transition to dark, the simply fade from the bottom up to that 1 1/2 guide. Cutting the same area multiple times just waist time 🤷🏻‍♂️
