I’ve been hoping to see Harley dolls for such a long time and you did her amazingly! The dress is incredible!! The thing with the original suicide squad is that they cut up the original script and did loads of reshoots to change the tone and direction. Apparently Enchantress wasn’t the original villain and there was enough footage of the joker to have his own movie (probably a bit exaggerated, but that’s what I’ve seen said). I’d love to see the full directors cut of the movie with the original script and shoots. I liked suicide squad, I can see what’s bad about it, all the issues, but I can enjoy it for what it is and a bit of fun. I actually love the original outfit, it’s based off an outfit/photoshoot Debbie Harry did and I’m a massive Blondie fan!

Why did it feel off? Some specifics would be useful. The head isn't a sculpt of Margot Robbie so there's only so far I can go. She has make up and blood all over her face in the reference I was using.

Hi! I’m a spinner- I spin yarn- and when looking for natural fibers to work with you might want to look for something with a long “staple length” that’s the term spinners use for the length of an individual fiber. Also wools have different staple lengths based on breed, time of shearing, age of the animal, and preparation method! You are right- you can dye any animal fiber with either the same dye you would use for your hair, or a fiber reactive dye (tho you might need to add a mordant wash before). Just be careful when applying hot water and agitation, you can cause the fibers to felt. I’m so excited to see a doll artist using natural fiber!!! I’ve always wanted to see people use them!

Etsy is great for getting different fibers and fiber mix ins- they are pretty good for dye too but I tend to go to dharma’s website for dye stuff. They have lots of info on how to use their different dyes and what mordant works best with what fiber- animal, plant, or man made!
Oh oh oh!!! Loved the movie. There was an AMAZING Harley ass kicking scene. So the dress, it's a wrap like i thought but UNDER the organza layer there is sequins and gems, not on top. I'm gonna make a dress like that but in a different colour. The javelin had more filigree but it WAS totally metal bit wood and the boots were just plain. Her J tattoo now has a girl sat on it which I didn't realise. Hmm I think that's it. When I was watching the movie I felt super proud that I have her as a Barbie. Her ass kicking was just so incredible

I really love this! Very talented! I also wanted to comment on what you said about how Harley was depicted in the first suicide squad movie. I don’t think you are really supposed to like how she is to the joker tbh, but it pays homage to her introduction as a character back in the 90s and remember the suicide squad movie was her first time on the big screen. It makes her character development in birds of prey that much better bc you see how far she has come as her own character. Harley Quinn was born bc of her crazy love for the joker, but she ended up becoming way more than just that and that’s why I love Harley. She did some dumb shit and learned and is still learning….anyways, sorry for the nerd rant😂 I really did like this video and loved how you went into detail on everything you did! Would love to see a Ratcatcher 2 doll done by you, if you haven’t already done it (this is my first time seeing your work lol)

First of all, AMAZING doll!!! Loved it! But I wanted to say I thought in the first movie she was acting herself, that's how she is in the comics? She wears hills when fighting and shes so in love with the joker she does absolutely anything for him and it's super toxic but thats pretty much the point?... like the "property of joker" tattoo was SUCH a Harley's thing at the time and she wore super tight clothes!!!! Shes always been like a dog for Joker even in the comics but after a while she ends it with him and turns into the type of girl we see in birds of prey. So I thought the first movie was very her.

Face framing pieces! Got it! So for the tattoos, I make the image on the screen the same size it will print out and then literally hold the doll up loooool so high tech. But then just in case I print out about 5 different sizes of each one that are just a tiny bit different and then cut them out and hold them against the doll to check. I have a lot of spares... But I have a printer ink subscription and I have to use the whole sheet soooo weird finger tats?? Ha

Harley being objectified is no surprise if you’re big into the DC Comics, because they do that to her character in the comics these days too. (They didn’t do that to the original Harley design, so I’m not really sure what the reasoning was.) If I’m not mistaken, Harley was originally a throw away character in the sense that they created her specifically for the Joker. (There’s an article where her creator talks about the inspiration behind her and such that I believe talks about it and how she was inspired by a funny bit the creator saw in a soap opera or something.) It seems like they only in recent years ( like the past 10+ ) started treating her as her own person. I’m glad they’re now defining her, because in the beginning she really was treated like nothing/like an object that belonged to Joker.

Harley at the point we see her in the first suicide squad is a shell of herself because she has wrapped her whole worth in Joker. And it isn't until she "loses" him that she finds herself and that's what you see in Birds of Prey

The joker and harley have always been in a toxic relationship, it wasn't just in suicide squad, C. it's not uncommon for girls to have revealing outfits, Harley's character was a crazy no care in the world kind of girl so in the movie- like in real life, it was her choice to wear that outfit and be in love with the joker til she got out of it, and D. She was a smart girl- might still be, but then she turned crazy -make sense? Haha
Oh no!! You could replace her hair by rerootin. Some doll hair can't take dry heat, in which case you need to use hot water. I showed it in my latest video at the end. How to put the head back on using hot water without getting the hair wet

I really love this! Very talented! I also wanted to comment on what you said about how Harley was depicted in the first suicide squad movie. I don’t think you are really supposed to like how she is to the joker tbh, but it pays homage to her introduction as a character back in the 90s and remember the suicide squad movie was her first time on the big screen. It makes her character development in birds of prey that much better bc you see how far she has come as her own character. Harley Quinn was born bc of her crazy love for the joker, but she ended up becoming way more than just that and that’s why I love Harley. She did some dumb shit and learned and is still learning….anyways, sorry for the nerd rant😂 I really did like this video and loved how you went into detail on everything you did! Would love to see a Ratcatcher 2 doll done by you, if you haven’t already done it (this is my first time seeing your work lol)
Dude I loved your nerd rant!! I think I guess I want the toxicity of their relationship called out but actually it got glamorised but I don't really blame the movie for that. I LOVED that catcher 2! She was wonderful. I'll add her to my list of inspo

Super cool! I made a Harley doll a few years ago, out of the Dc Superhero Harley doll, and It's not that bad to be honest, but I'd like to modify it a bit, cuz I didn't do a faceup the first time.

You might like getting some wool combs as it might make the combing process nicer. I'm not positive about that, but could be worth looking into
I just had a Google and they look really similar to a pet brush which I do use as well. The fibres aren't really tangly tbf. When I start making the RUclips Megabucks I'll try a wool brush cause I am interested

First of all, AMAZING doll!!! Loved it! But I wanted to say I thought in the first movie she was acting herself, that's how she is in the comics? She wears hills when fighting and shes so in love with the joker she does absolutely anything for him and it's super toxic but thats pretty much the point?... like the "property of joker" tattoo was SUCH a Harley's thing at the time and she wore super tight clothes!!!! Shes always been like a dog for Joker even in the comics but after a while she ends it with him and turns into the type of girl we see in birds of prey. So I thought the first movie was very her.
Yeah... I think that's her character. I think she's growing though and I love that. I think she's gonna be a badass villain. I just don't like heels on anyone fighting cause your ankles would literally snap. Like in the comics, in the film's. Anything. I cannot suspend disbelief that far ahahaha! They're starting to make their shoes make sense and honestly I appreciate it.

So for the tattoos, I make the image on the screen the same size it will print out and then literally hold the doll up loooool so high tech. But then just in case I print out about 5 different sizes of each one that are just a tiny bit different and then cut them out and hold them against the doll to check. I have a lot of spares... But I have a printer ink subscription and I have to use the whole sheet soooo weird finger tats?? Ha

Harley being objectified is no surprise if you’re big into the DC Comics, because they do that to her character in the comics these days too. (They didn’t do that to the original Harley design, so I’m not really sure what the reasoning was.) If I’m not mistaken, Harley was originally a throw away character in the sense that they created her specifically for the Joker. (There’s an article where her creator talks about the inspiration behind her and such that I believe talks about it and how she was inspired by a funny bit the creator saw in a soap opera or something.) It seems like they only in recent years ( like the past 10+ ) started treating her as her own person. I’m glad they’re now defining her, because in the beginning she really was treated like nothing/like an object that belonged to Joker.
Omg thanks for sharing that with me. That's super interesting! I think a lot of female characters are still objectified visually in comics. Maybe they're assuming their readership is male so the appeal to that?? I need to learn more about Harley...

Yeah I saw it 2 weeks ago. It was kinda stressful 😭 just cause the cinema had changed and I didn't know what I was doing. And then I was like really focusing on the dress and the javelin ahahaha! The joker and harley have always been in a toxic relationship, it wasn't just in suicide squad, C. it's not uncommon for girls to have revealing outfits, Harley's character was a crazy no care in the world kind of girl so in the movie- like in real life, it was her choice to wear that outfit and be in love with the joker til she got out of it, and D. She was a smart girl- might still be, but then she turned crazy -make sense? Haha

Oh no!! You could replace her hair by rerootin. Some doll hair can't take dry heat, in which case you need to use hot water. I showed it in my latest video at the end. How to put the head back on using hot water without getting the hair wet
