I've had these for a little over a year, i absolutely love them. I may be in the minority, but i love listening to music with them, they're so honest makes me feel like it's the straight out of the studio experience instead of a colored version with audiophile headphones of sorts
Nice review I wanted these for "general" all purpose use. But it sees they are soley for "Pro mixing use". What would you recommend for none mixing listening to music and movies headphones?
What do you think of them? I’ve always found Beyerdynamics too fatiguing in the top end to mix with, but the 900 Pro X was a really pleasant surprise for me. They are pretty “neutral” to my ears and not fatiguing at all, but still crisp enough to not sound veiled. I really like the low end for open backs as well, never bloated but defined and weighty. I think separation in the midrange could be better but for the price I like them a lot
Built like a tank, awesome comfort and german quality. They sound very good and balanced, for mixing/mastering purpose are a must have at this price point. Love them!
I use these for mixing and recording for over a year now and I am absolutely amazed by them! They sound great when your mix is great, And whenever my mix is not (which is most of the time) they slap me in the face and tell me They’re extremely comfortable to wear And I recommend everybody these! Glad that you like them :)
I've been in a quandary about whether to invest in the HD650s or drop a few hundred more on the Slate VSX headphones. Looks like I now have a THIRD contestant enter the arena. One that's cheaper than both. :-P
I don't understand the negative reviews. X55s are really special, at least for my taste. Other than mixing, I also use them for general listening. I just wonder how do they compare to x60s..
Because the midrange is about as flat as can be, people are hearing the congestion in their low mids/midrange accurately for the first time and, unsurprisingly, a lot of poorly mixed songs in this area sound absolutely terrible, hence the 'hate' for how the 'headphones sound.' Fix the mix, clear up the midrange, and these headphones are hard to beat in this price range.
Austrian Audio Hi-X55 were terrific for the first 8 months and then both ear pieces fell apart. They are unusable for me now. I am very disappointed with the build quality. I could probably get the issue fixed using the Warranty but I think it would probably just happen again. I am shopping around for an alternative now.
@@ChernobylAudio666 It was around 8 months. Very disappointed. Because they they were perfect for what I needed. I was using them probably 4 to 5 hours a day.
I am using them.since release also 3-4 hours a day and they are like new. There is also a repair bundle avaible if its realy not fixable. I personally think the built quality is superb on these cans and they overall punch way above its weight class 😊
Hi Scott! Question for you. Have you listened to different genres with these or just metal (knowing that is your primary genre 🙂)? Curious if the sound profile is suited to certain types of music over others. Thanks.
I've used these to listen to all different types of metal, synthwave, classical, and soundtracks. The best sounding mixes with these headphones were the ones that dealt with the mid and upper mid range correctly and had fantastic mix balance. Quite a few of the metal band mixes were rough.... to say the least, :D
You told me everything I was hoping to know in the first 45 seconds. Thank you so much! Great review.
Hey, Chernobyl Audio. Thanks for sharing your interest and experience of these Headphones with us. Nicely and construct video, Man.

Me too. And if you really want bass and your player or streaming service has an EQ, they can go full blast
Thank you for a very descriptive and honest review! These are at the top of my list!
Quote of the day: "They're going to sound like crap if your mix is crap." Well said!!

Interesting! I just ordered the BD dt 900 pro x. We'll see!

I am going to contact the company and see if they can help me get mine fixed. They are awesome headphones.
They need an EQ profile to get them flat for sure. The bass is tight.
Bought a pair, they sound great! Super comfortable too…

Drop hd6xx
@@enzojacobsen4349 Yeah, I've been looking at those. Same hardware and sound as the 650s but cheaper build.
@@RolandDeschain1 yeah they're awesome. Also check out the hd560s those r great for mixing

Interesting, how many hours would you say you've used them? I've had mine since June with daily usage with no sign of the earpieces falling apart.

Hi Scott. Are these suitable for playing and tracking guitar with?
Yep, they'd work well in that capacity!

Hey
Send those over when u get finished w them
To me, nearly any mix sounds like crap on them.
Everyone now listens to bassy, muddy headphones so they dont appreciate quality like this anymore.
Only the blackest of souls can handle having their opinions of their own work trampled under hoof by a pair of headphones. I'll take two.
