I'm looking forward to Lawson continually showing up Perez in a slower car. Eventually he will get his deserved shot in a top 4 team, through outperforming his team mates consistently.
It’s honestly getting annoying now. Red Bull don’t need someone who can beat Max but at least get someone in that can finish one or two places down from him CONSISTENTLY. People keep saying that Perez had a ‘strong start’ to the season, the only reason he was finishing 2nd comfortably is because that Red Bull was half a second quicker! Now the other teams have caught up he can’t finish better than p8 on merit. It’s embarrassing for the Red Bull team, it’s getting frustrating having to talk about him every weekend. I’m sick of Perez saying We, we, we instead of owning up to mistakes. His reputation will continue to go in the gutter unless he retires, it would be for his own good! Seems like a nice guy but come on. So many talents deserve a spot in that car over him, or are at least deserving of a chance. Get your head out of the sand Red Bull, you don’t need the money he brings.
Me too, though they have changed that to “20 of the best drivers in the world” for quite a while now, even though that is clearly not true either but more palatable than before. It used to irritate me because we all know that there are potentially better drivers waiting for their shot while there are several pay drivers on the grid that are mid level at best.
Would be sad if a driver with Lawson's talent is left on the sidelines again because he doesn't have the big money. His family have sacrificed a lot for him to be there. If this keeps up, we will have a gird full of Lance Strolls and I for one don't want to watch that. Perez is Lance Stroll 2.0. I agree, Colapinto isn't as good of a driver as Lawson. Not even close. But again, he has more money behind him.
What Red Bull also know is that if they do let Perez go he could spill some secrets, as Red Bull are finding out with former staff now at McLaren. This does highlight the WCC is not that important as they like to make it out. When teams order drivers about, and say the WCC comes first, it might just be gaslighting.
@DavidJohnson-dc8lu I don't think Perez would get another a seat on the grid to spill those secrets, at least for next year anyway. I agree I don't think teams place a lot of stock in the WCC. It's mainly to appease their sponsors & secure some bonuses for their staff
If Red Bull look at every season since they got Max, the number 2 driver has only made a difference twice so far in the WCC. Can kinda understand why they'd stick with Checo tbh. Pay drivers are a thing in Formula 1. I agree his performances haven't been good enough.
What's wrong? 1. The Sultan. 2. Stroll and his daddy. 3. Verstappen's daddy. 4. Money from countries with hideous human rights records. 5. Too many rotten teams. 6. Too many lousy drivers.
The amount of sponsors dollars you can bring to the team counts more than your talent and merit. This being the case how can F1 claim to be the pinnacle of motor racing? in terms of dollars they certainly are, but not in terms of the top talented drivers in the world at any given time. F1 is a show pony, it's not a thoroughbred like WRC & MotoGP.
It seems the wind tunnel rules are bringing the field closer together. If so, it is entirely rational for teams to have one excellent driver and one useless one, to maximise driver’s champ points while minimising constructors. That will help the good driver by giving them more wind tunnel time and thus a better car. Team orders are rationally then better carried out by team principals and owners having a strong “interest” in rival teams or drivers and using them tactically. And if your rules encourage that kind of action, your sport is broken.
If the goal for this season was to get more wind tunnel time before 2026, red bull have successfully done that. And managed to keep hold of the drivers title for max. Maybe perez did exactly what he was meant to do.
F1 will never get the top-20 drivers. That's just impossible. There too much money involved in the sport. Even if you want to drive F4 you need a shitload of money.
What are you talking about... Franco got dropped in that seat with very little prep and never raced an F1 car like Liam and has performed from the get go and to the point of being on ALBONs level and beating Hamilton in a straight fight. Lawson is good but seems to have a chip on his shoulder which i think takes away from his ultimate pace like he is distracted by beating Perez and showing red bull he should have had a seat already instead of just focasing on driving and releasing his ultimate speed.
@stuffeyy Which drivers on the current grid would you have thrown into the bin? and whats your thoughts on rookies who cant win in f2 being selected over guys like Drugovich?
Perez, Stroll, Bottas & Zhou (both confirmed to be leaving). These drivers have had plenty of time to prove themselves and it's time they move on for better, younger talent rather than just go through the motions that don't excite anyone. Regarding rokkies who haven't won F2, we are clearly seeing that F1 teams are not judging drivers based purely off of wins, as wins come in all different forms. Some are skill based but some are also down to luck. F1 teams are looking for drivers with raw pace, overtaking & defending skills plus more.
@@stuffeyy But if look at F2 winners.. Lewis, Leclerc, Russel, Piastri... All potent drivers.. Yes Devries choked and hulk hasnt done all that well but hasnt had the car. Maybe its my anti brit stance but i find bearman and Kimi are overhyped... and never deserved that seat. He had the second fastest car (Ferrari) and finished p7 cause lando and lewis got screwed by SC. Kimi will have a fast car and be able to show his skills.. reminds me of 2002.. Everyone was on the Mclaren Kimi Raikkonen hypetrain and never gave Alonso the time of day until they got in similar cars and it was clear Alonso was a better racecar driver.. I do wish Drugovich got that seat and Lance should just go fly into oblivion. Do you know or have any insight why Lance cant get fired? His dad only controls about 25% of the team.. im sure the other shareholders can gang up on him like they did to Ron Dennis and throw him into the bin
Max will not drive for a other team. Unless he still really enjoys F1 and the team he will drive for. When RB has the 3th fastest car but the best racing team.. Think he will stay and fight for it. As long he enjoys it.
Stroll is a different matter entirely. If not for the Strolls there'd be no Aston Martin team and all those people would have lost their jobs some years ago. Maybe there'd only be 18 cars on the grid. So Stroll is costing nothing. They have Newey now and Alonso. Schumacher was little better than Stroll yet all the wailing and claiming how he ought to be on the grid. F1 has always been like this. Lotus used to have drivers with far less ability than Clark. Brabham too. How many less than drivers did Bernie Ecclestone put in the second Brabham for sometime?
There's rumors that they did some type of (sim?) test with Lawson & Yuki on the Red Bull car, though neither could keep up with Perez. So my take is that the Red Bull is at this point a Max-Only car that is essentially impossible to drive for anyone else. I think Perez is still a good driver, just that his driving style clashes with the extreme setup of the RB. Ultimately still just a theory though, and I'd love to see a second driver that's closer to max again.
I don't quite believe that. It's either fake or they are trying to create/find an excuse to justify to Lawson & Tsunoda fir them nit getting the seat rather rhan admit it's over lack of funds
@@Max_Flashheart 5th. Dani was averaging almost the same positon as Perez in the last 6 races he was in in a fucking VCARB. (Yuki much further behind) Every part of this is embarassing.
@@stuffeyyJust read the news article about this. Wasn’t well written but basically its says in the sim with it setup the same as the RB20 currently is, Checo was faster than Lawson. But if they take away the settings that Checko is used to, that Lawson was faster than he was. Not sure what the point was of getting Lawson to drive with the car setup for Checo. Make him look bad against him as you say. Seems pretty pointless otherwise as if Lawson had the seat, it would be setup for him. There is no way he isn’t faster than Checo in the RB20, he’s often faster than Checo in the VCARB.
I have said from the summer break Perez will be finished at the end of the season someone else will take his seat. It’s going to happen and I’ll pay it £100 on it.
If someone is wanting to be 3rd or 4th on the championship cause of wind tunnel time, then those rules have failed and need to be removed.
I'm looking forward to Lawson continually showing up Perez in a slower car. Eventually he will get his deserved shot in a top 4 team, through outperforming his team mates consistently.
I would choose Colapinto over Hulkenberg or Bottas too, if I'm honest.
Yep time for the youth
Red Bull learned from Renault that you do not let someone go who knows where the bodies are buried
Man I’m going to really sad if Lawson misses out. He’s proven himself
100% agree. He deserves a full season
He will get a seat at RB at a minimum.

If you have your own Wind tunnel, how does that get monitored? Is it not like having your own treadmill to do private exercise on.
The FIA have cameras setup in the wind tunnel and whenever it is used they switch on and start recording the session.
Did not know that, interesting how those camera feeds are kept secure, data confidentiality etc.
