  • Chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos... Africa's Great Apes, their future? At this point, it's no surprise that wild primates are in peril with significant habitat loss as each day goes on, but the real question remains: is there a future for Great Apes?
A recent study, drawing on meta-data from dozens of scientists and primatologists, takes a look at just how dire the situation is for primates as inch by inch, their homes disappear. Read the study here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/1...
YOU can also take part in protecting apes in a number of ways. Check out this list for some at-home and in-person options to help protect apes from afar: bit.ly/HowYouCanHelpApes

Exactly! I agree 💯....what we choose to support matters.
I'm suprised this video didn't specifically state that the NUMBER 1 driver for deforestation is clearing and burning to make way for pastures for livestock and crops grown and shipped worldwide to feed the billions of animals in factory and free range farms globally. Source: our world data - drivers of deforestation and our world data - global land use.
I've heard so many get upest with how dare these industries do this. However, they forget that Industry is fueled by supply and demand!
The power to change these devastating environmental practices lies in each our hands.
      My mantra
      1) Reduce or even better eliminate animal product consumption (as livestock eat far more crops than humans ever could and require a ton more land to raise on pastures) where practicable and possible (this BY FAR is number 1 deforestation driver and number 1 ocean dead zone driver)
      2) Boycot palm oil (second biggest driver)
      3) Read lables and source sustainable products wherever possible

By 2050, even humans will be in an unsustainable situation if nothing changes quickly. And if nothing changes, we deserve to have a horrible end.
Save APES and other living wonderful creatures means save ourselves.

How can you be a group of truly trying to save the apes & completely leave out the orangutans??? 🦧🦧
I jes love all the apes & if you’re really trying to save them, then let’s save them all !!!

Hi Todd, we totally agree that all of the great apes are worth saving! This particular study we are highlighting only looks at African landscapes but there is certainly plenty of research being done into Orangutan and other Asian primates, and how quickly they too are losing their land!

La dinámica , de destrucción en la que estamos, soy muy pesimista, creo que no van a tener futuro en libertad, la voracidad del sistema, lo va a hacer imposible. Quisiera equivocarme.🙏🦍🦧🙋🏻‍♀️🇪🇸

What this fails to recognise is that the NUMBER 1 driver for deforestation is clearing and burning to make way for pastures for livestock and crops grown and shipped worldwide to feed the billions of animals in factory and free range farms globally.
