    Impressive performance and roll rate. It is not often you see warbird aircraft doing three climbing rolls or rolling on the back side of an inside loop.

    They had a Yak-11 with a R-2800 tucked under the cowling that raced at Reno in 89 & 90. Could keep up with Strega and Rare Bear for a couple of laps. Looked pretty cool whipping around the pylons doing 450 +. Polished fuse bright green wings.

    Yak-11 is a two-seat trainer. La-7 is a single-seat fighter. I can't tell one from the other :P The two-bladed propeller is odd for an La-7, though. So I'm leaning towards a modified Yak-11. I wish it was an La-7.

    It sounds and looks great Yak or Lavochkin! Great footage as always thanks mate. BTW - there’s an La-9 that’s flyable in the US. Used to be based in NZ where it flew a fair bit. Sucks we don’t see any footage of it anymore which often happens when warbirds go to the US....

  • @ronasaurus74

    Absolutely the Yak; Lavochkin La's all had a completely different tail shape, much more sloped and streamlined, less upright, and certainly not a two bladed prop. This Yak appears to have been modified as a single seater, with a canopy, that closely resembles the one on a La5FN, or a La7, which would explain the confusion as to what this actually is. Just look up photos of a La7, and then a Yak, you'll see what I mean, it's obvious.

      In description it is said that this engine is 700hp and propeller is obviously 2 bladed. thereafter this Lavochkin with this particular engine and propeller is no match for basically any variant of planes you mentioned above. 700hp is good for airshows, not for serious combat.

    • @easttexan2933

    • @igorkratka
      @igorkratka 2 года назад +4

      @@easttexan2933 Well, the plane is most likely stripped off cannons and does not carry armament. That easily brings down weight by 500kg. No seat armor needed either. That is further 100kg. Who knows how big fuel tank is- could well be modified to have smaller capacity.. No bombs carried either. Smaller engine needs smaller oil tank.The plane may appear brisk, but that is only result of weight brought down to bare minimum. Look how long it takes to takeoff. Pilot uses almost whole runway. Once he is in air, gain some speed he just needs to preserve kinetic energy to create illusion of speed....avoiding sustained turns. Real life Lavochkin just as its german opponents had engines with power output anything between 1100-1900 hp, depending on year and variant because only such engines could pull the plane combat loaded with everything required.

      the airframe is 100 percent yak. La7 wings have no dihedral load and have a rather stubby tip to increase roll rate. The tail was similar to that of a late Merlin spitfire. La7 looks like a hybrid between a 190D and a Tempest Mk2.
