    lyrics

amelie, your vocals compliment II-L's unique sound style so well, very pillow-y but just as precise in melody as the complex beat behind you. What a fantastic collab. 10/10 will listen again for weeks!
Also, kinda feels like a djent style of vocals due to how closely matched the vocal rhythms are with the beat. Super refreshing sound.

I love this song, super cool vocals and rhythm!
I tried writing lyrics in English, at least how I interpret it. (small rewrite 2024/4/22 :) )
Over the watery planet like our home
    A golden satellite revolves around
It was sent out to investigate
    The space aliens it observed
Used an uncanny sum of fingers
    To count their uneven numbers
    Recollecting a faraway past
    Rules once created by mankind
Things deviated quite a lot since
Even the music is significant thing
    Utterly perplexed over this
    Beat that is so incomprehensible
    Perhaps the aliens here
Dance effortlessly as if saying it makes sense
A number on an indivisible grid
Gave an intriguing sense of the future
Got on the groove of 3+2
Rhythmic feel of the prime of sum of prime equals
The number of counting, bending fingers
Which still feels strange to this day
    "5 x 2 equals 10"
Such wonderful way of aliens' counting are...

I tried rewriting some with syllables in mind, but I gave up after the first part hahah.
I can't even begin to think about rhymes, the lyric writing is absolutely insane!
Over the watery, blue planet like our home
One golden satellite revolves around its heart
      It was sent out to inspect and explore it whole;
What it observed in its scope look like Aliens
Using an uncanny sum of fingers and hands
To count their irregular and uneven numbers

Yet another amazing song, you're genuinely becoming one of my favorite artists. I usually only listen to the most recently added songs to my library, and your music has been one of the few exceptions to that. Mission Sputnik has even become my go-to stress-relief album. That being said, it seems that the Mission Sputnik I.II album has either been removed from Apple Music entirely or just in my region; I really miss vibing to the album while driving and I figured you should know in-case it wasn't an intentional removal.

For me I usually find the elementary pulse, meaning the quick notes that underly everything no matter how the groove decides to group and re-group them into different meters (or illusions of meters). Still pretty challenging for this song but when the syncopated kicks finally give way to a straight 4 kick pattern at 0:46 it actually just uncomplicates itself entirely and says "here's the pulse", the 5 notes for every kick, those notes were there the whole time whether they were being played or not-in other words, the pulse is the grid that the song lives in. The straightened out kicks are, of course, the "beat", each being a quarter note in this case (in my mind, I mean. It could be notated various ways, but it's common to let "the beat" also be quarter notes if you can).
Quarter notes broken into 5 subdivisions are often notated as quintuplets so you can keep the time signature 4/4 instead of needing to call it 20/16 or something, which would be kind of awkward still since you'd be saying "each kick, each beat, is a quarter note tied to a sixteenth note" and that's not very convenient.
Then I go back and re-listen to the start while trying to imagine the pulse underneath it. Seeing how the notes might line up with that invisible grid.
The other thing that helps is knowing that in quintuple time, you're usually going to feel like half the bar (or some repeating period) is hitting the downbeat a certain way, followed by the second half which lands in the exact opposite way hitting the upbeats instead, if that makes sense. Listen to the snare and how it hits in between the beats, and then on the beat, and then in between, and then on, over and over. It's a very classic quintuplet (or actually any odd meter) feeling to hear that.
