  • Classic 1980s band The Visible Targets consisted of sisters Rebecca Hamilton, Pamela Golden and Laura Keane. Every bit as important to the bands over-all sound and appeal was drummer Ron Simmons. During their career the band won over punk as well as pop fans with their catchy, smart music. They played throughout the Northwest as well as touring the US and Canada. The song 'Just For Money' comes from their first EP titled (simply) 'The Visible Targets'. The group disbanded in the early 1990s, but interest in their music has been rising steadily over the past few years. A compilation album of their music is in the works.

I worked there, and still think it was one of the best clubs of all time. For everything it lacked, it was the first Seattle bar that brought alternative and punk music to Seattle nightlife on a regular basis.

The music video for Twilite Zone, that no one ever seemed to have, is on the Internet Archive now. It's totally bonkers. Karl Krogstad with his whacked-out bird fetish. Strange Dennis never uploaded it...

The reason I have never uploaded The Twilight Zone video is that the band asked me not to. They were very disappointed with it (for whatever reason) and didn't feel it met the standards they were looking for. I leave others to decide whether it's good, bad or indifferent, but I can only following the wishes of Rebecca, Laura, Pamela, and Ron.

I'm puzzled as to what they didn't like -- unless it was a Stevie Nicks "You made me look fat!" thing. I thought it was a knockout clip. But then I'm a sucker for penguins. And dudes in penguin suits. They had to have spent some $$$ on it. Even 16mm ain't cheap. Well, now I know why I was searching for it for years with no success. They didn't want me to see it. P.S. Thank you for the videos you did upload. I'm grateful for them.

@@LoneWolfAttack I love those women dearly, but they have their own perspective and sometimes it seems confusing. I do know they felt embarrassed by a few of the scenes as being a bit too "cutesy". They really disliked the image of being "girls" or "chicks". I can see why because though they never seem to get mentioned, I believe they helped pave the way for the Riot Grrl bands. They especially hated being known as an "All-girl band" because they obviously weren't...and they did not want to play off their sex...they were serious musicians.
I have not seen the Twilight video for years. I'm not sure if Karl Krogstad even had the masters. I think they actually belonged to the V.T.s or more likely Bob Jenniker. I simply cannot remember. I couldn't find it at the video archives. I wonder if you could send me a PM with the url. I won't ask that it be taken down from the archives, but as per their wishes, I don't want it copied to you tube or vimeo or any other video sharing site. That's not out of obligation...just out of respect. Who knows? I might even convince them it would be OK to upload to You Tube. They have a few more unreleased songs that i hope to get around to making videos some day...not sure when. Of course they'll have to approve them being put up on You Tube.

MIPOPS did the transfer off the tapes that Karl used to sell. (Word of warning: the tapes Karl used to begin with were a mess, the telecines that created said tapes were a mess, and the actual tape that MIPOPS got from Scarecrow Video was a mess. So it's a triple mess.) Their upload to IA was botched and hasn't been fixed yet, but they let me look at it when I brought to their attention that several of their uploads didn't work. (Well, that, and I begged.) Should be fixed shortly. archive.org/details/SCV29 . If it isn't, just call 'em up and I know they'll let you watch it. They let me watch it, and I'm a nobody. From what I was told, the tape will eventually be returned to Scarecrow and you can rent it there. There are also copies at a couple of libraries outside of Washington, but I wasn't able to obtain those through interlibrary loans. You might have better luck than I did.
