As a German, I can assure you, we here in Europe are all torn between horror, head-shaking, and outright laughter. Within a year, Trump has turned the USA into an untrustworthy "partner," a threat to global stability, and, incidentally, an absolute laughingstock. I just hope the American people realize what an idiot they've elected as president; at some point, the Republican representatives will have to rediscover their sense of decency and morality.

Andere Staaten wollen mit so einem Land nicht all zu viel Handel treiben und wenn nur unter strengern Bedingungen, man will in so einem Land keine großen Investitionen tätigen, sich nicht auf Dauer militärisch verlassen, will nicht sein Hirn und seine Arbeitsleistung in so ein Land tragen.
Also findet man neue Partner, eigene Lösungen, wendet sich ab und die ehemals mächtigste Bananenrepublik der Welt wird rasch ein Player unter Vielen, wohl nicht irrelevant, aber angreifbar und ständig im vergeblichen Versuch ordentlich was zu reißen.
Klar, für Donny ist das egal, der hat nicht mehr so lange, aber bei den jüngeren Superreichen, da hätte ich halt schon gedacht, dass sie noch was von der Nummer haben wollen.
Ich meine, sich in die Südsee zurück ziehen, das wird auf Dauer doch auch fad und wie können sie jemals sicher sein, dass die vielen Arbeiter um sie, auf die sie angewiesen sind, nicht irgendwann die Schnauze voll haben?
The moment they elected Trump back in 2016 I stopped laughing about it. I actually cried (although I was only 20% as informed about politics as I am now), because it shocked me how misinformed to ignorant voters were and still are.

Heute Show is not news but political satire aligned to mainstream news in Germany. "Heute Show" is the not so much needed sarcastic cousin of the serious "Heute" news. In the US the Kimmels, Colberts, Seth Meyers etc are much needed because liberal viewers are fed up with the CNNs (while Trumpers need Fox news for their daily dose of dumbing down). Satire is presenting facts in a funny way.
Yes. Therefore good satire is often or always educational and eye-opening. Satire without politic, historic or social background is just (hopefully good) comedy.
Well, in this case it's lies. He says that the guy filmed the ICE agents, while in reality he broke their taillights on another day and the day he got shot he was also armed.
While you do "concealed carry" you should not get into altercations with someone and if so you have to tell them that you're armed.
They got him to the ground and in the chaos someone must have said "gun, gun, gun" and to me it seems like they stepped back when they thought they lost control and then they opened fire.
Was it correct how everything happened? No, but in this case I can understand that they're "better save than sorry" thinking about their own life's.
I think it's just wrong to act like he didn't look for trouble, because the only reason why he was there was to mess with the ICE agents while being armed himself.
And again... since he said "the ICE guys are trigger happy".... WHY would you mess with them if you think that they would open fire? This whole thought process makes no sense at all.
They are FEDERAL Agents... nobody would mess with the FBI and wonder why they tell you go get lost of the FBI doesnt want to explain to a civilian why they are there.
The whole "oh, the ice agent has to explain themself to me" should tell you that these people are "not that smart" and gaslight themself into... well.... THIS
He talks about how great it is that those people FILM the Ice agents... but that's not all they do and to not acknowledge this is the big problem here.
If you think what they do is right... go to the german police, yell at them for no reason and stand infront of their car... or try to run them over with an SUV.

I think the 1st time I visited the US was in 1988, and it was already very, very bad even back then... I don't think there's any solution for this problem.

But couldn't get a word from his attempt to speak German, not a single word.

Es geht bei den kurzen Beinen eher darum, dass Lügen nicht weit kommen, also dass Unwahrheiten nicht lange unentdeckt bleiben und die Redensart gibt es wie "Ehrlichkeit währt am längsten." (was die gleiche Idee im Grunde umgekehrt ist) schon länger als die moderne Idee des Dad Jokes. Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Wander führt das Sprichwort in seinem Deutschen Sprichwörter-Lexikon (1867-1880) als etabliertes deutsches Sprichwort auf, d. h. es ist spätestens Mitte bzw. Ende des 19. 1:00 Personally: yes! I love to see people from other countries also diving into our own issues a little bit. For one, it gives you perspective, simply by seeing what's going wrong somewhere else (instead of seeing Germany through rose tinted glasses, like many do). But it's also a bit cathartic for us to see someone from the outside react to our issues and share in our annoyance or bewilderment about them.

I live here in Germany but have this internalized shame about being American sometimes and try to maintain a low profile, refuse to speak English in public even when others want to, even though all this crap is out of my control, besides voting, which even then was rejected and no valid reason given. They've made it so hard for voters like me but I'll keep going because of the rest of the world and people like you.

A recent The David Pakman Show video consisted of a conversation with a psychologist who has been analysing the movements and actions of The Donald. His conclusion is that the Orange One has suffered a small stroke and has advancing fronto-temporal dementia, which explains his inability to walk in a straight line, his total incoherence in speech and his frequent falling asleep. The rest of the administration is trying to cover up for all this but failing as what he says makes no logical sense. Especially when it has to include defending the actions of ICE stormtroopers gone rogue. And the narcissistic personality disorder is only too obvious.
The Germans will not surprisingly, knowing their own history, know what the rise of fascism looks like. As a German, it reassures me to see Americans reflecting critically on their nation’s politics and political decisions in relation to others.
Of course, Heute Show is satire, but the truth is protected by artistic freedom. German history is a stark example of what’s happening in America right now - we had dictators, we had the Gestapo, we had hate-fuelled propaganda. And if we’re not careful - because our politicians are failing us -, we’ll sadly see the same patterns emerging again in a few years’ time.
