    This video was so helpful to me last week when I had to get my cat down from a tree. My cat was up too high to get to with any ladder (even the local fire department couldn't help). After my cat had been up there for 3-4 days with no food/water. I decided to try climb the tree myself as a last ditch attempt to get him down. So I researched all I could on the internet, and your videos (especially this one) were the most useful ones I found. Thanks so much! (I got my cat down with no trouble, btw)

      Should've thrown a rock at him & get him to jump off himself. Cats are just scared at great heights but they will always survive the fall. My guy dropped 4 stories & is still tip top, he just used up one of his lives;)

    • @1Celebrindor
      @1Celebrindor 2 года назад +2

      Just a friendly heads up, cats are afraid of heights but their terminal velocity (the maximum speed the can fall at before wind resistance overcomes gravity) while conscious and not hitting any objects is low enough that they can't get hurt from falling. This doesn't make it 100% safe (if they hit a branch on the way down or aren't awake they are still screwed) however you can just drop or toss them out of a tree. Its not fun for anyone, however just be careful when rescuing cats because in their panic they can scratch you up and cause you both to fall getting both you and your cat killed. If you grab them by the scarf of the neck and drop them in a clear spot its actually pretty safe.

      @@Yelzabub That cats will always be okay after a fall is a myth. Neighbor's cat fell from 2nd floor balcony on a windy day. Broke her paws badly at the joints had to get x-rays, harness and screws to stabilize the legs cost over $1000 alltogether and took 5 months to walk normal again. Had she not been treated, the shattered bone splinters would have rendered her immobile for life.

    I appreciate climbing in a series of small steps instead of one large gap, it seems to give me time to actually look at the tree for damage and disease and allows you to acclimate if you haven't been climbing in a while. Always love the videos and the music! Thanks!!!

    Too late! Haha. We are onto the tree topping step of cutting this woody down. I gotta a whole lot of respect for arborists because when I was on the ground and my father up in the tree, its easy to say hey go and cut that limb etc but once get up there, its a whole different story. When I stated that the tree was splitting, I meant it is its early stages of splitting about 30 feet from the base where it becomes a fork. Maybe I shouldn't call it a split. You probably have a name for it. Thanks

    As a beginner I have always thrown up a rope to the highest part of the tree (5-6 attempts) This method looks efficient especially when there are lots of branches in the way. Thanks, well done. Will make sure not grab onto dead wood though.

    I will be trying this out very soon, decided to have a go at toping a few tree's in my garden, mainly a massive conifer. trying to get by on very minimal equipment, got a rock climbing harness as they are much cheaper than an arborist harness, not so easy to use a lanyard but should still manage it, four carabiners two of which are locking, 15 metre climbing rope, one hand ascender, and 2 metres of prosik cord, and been watching lots of clips on here on tree climbing and tree pruning, so what could possibly go wrong lol.

      +Garry G put a rig rope in and pull it towards its natural lean, and get your pie cut right. Remember that 'poppin tops' is how a lot of climbers get injured. A good tip= when you get to the top, give yourself fifteen minutes to catch your breath so you dont do stupid things. Be safe bro

    Hello friend, I climb trees in Brazil and would like to learn Branch Walking, you know of any instructional video and what is the necessary equipment to be able to walk on thin branches?
    Congratulations for the beautiful video

    • @aliray1165
      @aliray1165 4 года назад +1

      Rodrigo Y Castro you need the highest anchor point you can that is safe. It should be no thinner than your forearm. Branch walking is limited by a few things. The angle of the branch(too steep you have no grip). Too weak/long where your weight needed to grip is less than the strength of the branch. Or if your ropeline will be crossed by another branch as you walk.
      When attempting any cuts you should always be clipped locally to a second point. This prevents falling when the unpredictable forces on your body and the branch make your balance change after the cut.

    I would seriously urge you to rethink undertaking such a large project if you are not experienced in this type of removal, especially if the tree is splitting, it maybe unsafe to climb. I would suggest contacting an arborist and getting their opinion. It is a very dangerous job even with a lot of knowledge let alone a little, also companies are covered by insurance for anything that may go wrong in terms of damage e.g. the house. Hope I'm not spoiling your fun but i'm being realistic. Thanks
