Thank you Watch Alter for the love! I hope everyone enjoys DEATH STORY 🔪🩸
u are a girl right?
Oh WOW I liked how she still walking her bike with blood on her like nothing happened strange but great short 👍 movie New York sending 💗
Natalia, I think you don't like suburbia (well ubsr rich suburbia anyway...or maybe you think all of suburbia is uber-rich?) and I get the feeling there are some other things you wanted to represent a disdain for here as well. Great camera work, beautiful innocence with the actress as well.
@@RK-qh3ll Quite the opposite, I adore suburbia.......thank you for the kind words. Much love to you! Thank you for taking the time to watch my film ❤️
@@katinaegyptwalker6256 Me too! Nothing like a bloody girl and her bike at sunset 🔪
Here's my theory: this young lady assists suicides of older people. In return, she gets to cannibalize them. In this Universe, the people have no problem with it because they see it as everyone getting what they want, as evidenced by the fact that she's COVERED in blood, and her neighbor enthusiastically waves at her. She obviously HATES vegetables (or can't eat them), which is why she treats the meat with delicate care, but treats the kale and broccoli with disdain. This might also have to do with some personal rage she has against older adults because of the well-known insistence for young people to "eat your vegetables!". The older couple had their last dance, and she provided them the space to do so. Then, she chopped them up in an angry frenzy because she's obviously a cannibal, but has real resentment toward old folks. So, she found a way to satisfy her desire to eat old people, while justifying it (providing them with the option of assisted suicide). It took me a minute to figure out what the hell was going on here, but I think I got it.
Ooo i like ur description to!
Nah. She just got sick of her grandparents telling her to eat her veggies. So she’s going to eat them instead- clearly related because they hug at the door and on the way home when the man waves it’s because it’s Halloween day and it just looks like fake blood to him. Really she’s just a psycho who was abused as a child - raised by her grandparents who forced her to eat veggies - and then when her parents got custody back she killed them. Case closed. Lmfao
Just kidding. So the whole idea here is being wealthy means you can do whatever the fuck uou want and no one will care - especially if your a pretty white girl. The desc gives this away by saying “a nihilistic girl enjoys the wealth of suberba” - a nihilistic person rejects the normal rules of society - and we all know very wealthy have all to often their own views and ways of the world - they believe they are better than some and can do what they want without ever being punished for the crimes.... she is just a typical psychopath but she has the luxury of being very wealthy.... so no one cares!
I forgot to mention... the little meat cubes she’s snacking on are likely her parents. She doesn’t live by anyone’s rules but her own so when the grandparents told her to eat her veggies she decided to get even - and made them eat the veggies with the meat from their own kids - unknowingly of course. Once dead she cuts them up and collects more meat cubes to enjoy later.
It’s just showing us how a pretty very rich who’re girl can literally get away with murder - and it happens in real life everyday too - imagine though if it was a poor black kid - he’d be shot dead as soon as he touched the bike with all that blood - let alone walked across town with it lol
@@amandaroman3471 That's because he would have resisted arrest for being in possession of stolen property. Case closed.
Girl definitely has a thing against old people. The real horror, though, was how she cut up that broccoli
I'M SCARED
That's exactly what I was concerned about
It's SUPER hard to make a film or short film with no dialogue. These people hit it out of the park. The shots, lighting, music, and I could go on and on but man, They did a great job. The originality in most of these short movies is so refreshing. And some takes on old classic tales are just so genuine!! I'm just surprised that I don't see much more of this talent on the big screen. Thank God for Alter!!!
Hollywood só quer obras de roteiros genéricos que são "sucesso fácil", e quando acatam uma boa proposta, não dão tempo para os diretores trabalharem
It felt like an assisted suicide done for the couple because they were so in love they wanted to die together but the girl is a little to into her job.
That's what I was thinking! But then...what was she chopping up at the end? Was there supposed to be more of a time lapse involved while the camera is panning the household? So some time passed after the older couple died, and she was chopping them up for food? Honestly, the second I saw those pieces of meat in the beginning, I immediately thought, 'human'.
@@veggiesarefruits they might have wanted to be eaten after death. like tibetan sky burial
@@ThePitchblue that's kind of what I was saying, though I didn't express it. Like it's a deal between both parties, ya know?
The song playing certainly seems to imply this.

@@missprettyschannel Oh, I'm sorry that you found it boring.
@UCLegjDCsCj3hUY-wlSOLp9w I mean, it didn't have much horror. But if you try to dig deeper, the fact that there wasn't much of a story suggests that they want the watcher to use their imagination to create theories.

The true horror is that meal. As an asian that unwashed uncooked broccolli is terrifying.

The cinematography laid the foundation for this well-crafted film. In fact I was so absorbed with the scene treatment that the horrific ending flew over my head, till I saw it again, and said, "Oh no!"

Another excellent piece of work. I think I can detect a definite David Lynch influence there, the whole "darkness covered by a thin veil of normality" schtick that Lynch often uses, the sound design with the drones and a industrial noise and the choice of music, classic Americana. It's all done very well.
I particularly liked the protagonist. Horror movie killers are normally hulking brutes wearing strange masks and dirty, gore streaked clothes. Here our killer is the absolute opposite, in fact she's more likely to be the victim in more traditional films than the fiend she is in this short. I think she's scarier than Jason Vorhees or Leatherface, because she wears an invisible mask. Her mask is her apparent innocence and our preconceptions about what someone of her age and appearance are like. Her disguise is perfect, you probably wouldn't know how evil and twisted she was until she started dismembering you. It's so perfect she can cycle down the street, covered in blood, and no one even notices.
@@midnightmosesuk Wow that's a pretty great review ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I'm so thrilled you enjoyed it.

As she was moving about the house, before leaving, I thought: _It's not her house._ _She couldn't afford it._
_Where's her parents?_
Her little snack set the alarm bells ringing and answered that question.
Such well cut medallions of mummy and daddy, fed to her grandparents.
What a thoughtful little psycho she is, eh? 😜😂😂😂
A delightfully macabre little number.
Well done to all involved!
A thoughtful little psycho is right.... ❤️❤️❤️
@@nathalia_pizarro
Oh, wow, it's you. 😮😲😂
Hullo.
What crossed my mind, at the end, was as the neighbour waved to her, in the closing scenes, he noticed nothing awry, such as the blood over her and her clothing.
That set off a load of questions.
Did he genuinely not notice?
Was it a metaphor for his and other neighbours' blindness to what the young lady actually was?
Was it a metaphor in _your_ eyes, as the writer, ie, was it all a fantasy in her mind for imaginary murders she wanted to commit and totally unreflected in reality?
Having met a couple of psychopaths in my lifetime I can attest they are thoughtful people, however, it depends on the interpretation of the word _thoughtful._ 🤔😂
Most think of it as a kind person, whereas, in the case of such individuals, they're thoughtfully going through the motions, as it serves a purpose for them.
I've only ever seen the ones I've known express various degrees of anger, (being denied, thwarted, taunted/humiliated, challenged, etc) although we're led to believe they are totally disassociated from emotion.
Oh, and fear...of a god, in case there _is_ an ultimate judgement, as they fear nothing else.
Anyway, your film has gone into my collection and I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Thank you for responding.
@@billyandrew I'm loving your interpretation and all of your questions.... I would love to tell you what it really means... but where's the fun in that? 🔪🔪
@@billyandrew Psychopaths aren't disassociated from emotions. They are disassociated from empathy.
@@carlosidelone8064
Sorry, but I disagree.
They go through the motions they know is expected of them, in order to say under the radar, undetected.
Their 'emotions' are entirely affected.
They feel pleasure, but at someone else's expense.
They feel satisfaction at a conclusion that works for them.
Other than that, and I can only speak from my personal experience, you are correct in that their utter lack of empathy is pre-eminent.
Oh, and they love risks, particularly if the lives of others are at stake.
Bigger the stake, bigger the thrill.
She is a psycho. The way she meticulously arranges the meat pieces on the plates. Her obsession with order tells it all.. I love how she prepared the diners for their death. 🎶, 🩰, 🍷- action
Right. A girl serial killer.
You saw how she chopped the broccoli, right?
Whew. I found this work to be very methodical with its approach and reveals.
Watching the daily interactions of the girl as a setup was slick. We know its a horror film but where is it going. Plus, the title, that is what you call a hook.
There were also nice points and counterpoints. The girl wakes up but there is ominous music. Dark thoughts may be afoot. The first song with a "cold and lonely summer" contrasted with that gorgeous window view. We also get the dark food falling on the white shoe. These things keep you riveted in a no dialougue film.
The choice of music and songs were worked so well into the story. I would love to hear more from the writer and director on this.
I also like the pictures on the wall of a couple and the family pictures on the tables. It sets the temporary peacefulness of the home well.
So what happened in the girls head and what's the motivation. I don't know. That's up to the viewer.. You could extrapolate things like resentment at having to be a young caretaker or jealousy of seeing a happy couple.
The 360 panning shot towards the end was superb work.
Again Whew.
Excellent work to the team that made this. Thanks again Alter.
Peace.

Come for the amazing minimalist storytelling and character work, stay for the stunning 360degree shot and sudden disturbing Aphex Twin-esque sound design! Once again, another short that I could watch another 90mins of. Well done!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I caught the Aphex Twin sounds as well! The scream in "Come to Daddy" haha
Obviously this one is about some sort of eco-friendly, cannibalistic utopia. Vegetables and human meat are being eaten raw, humans end their lives happy, old and fulfilled, and then serve as another meal for other humans. Plants and flower symbols are everywhere. Girls are slim and their hair is gorgeous.
I think this is the most apt description ive read. Makes alooot of sense.
Plus it also answers why the guy waved n she walks so freely with all the blood over her. Coz its a done thing in this society so no one bats an eye. A job if you will.
Great eerie short movie, twisted drone ambient music mixed with classic originals, love it!! Big like and thanks, ALTER!
Kinda shows how people nowadays don't see any evil to those who are beautiful or innocent looking. While if ur not attractive, you are automatically judged and labeled as a bad person. Just my 2 cent.🤷🏽♂️

Best place to be for experiencing psycho drama....
Definitely an ALTERed view of the suburbs. I could still live there.
6:00 Making a dish with broccoli. This is true horror!
At first I thought she put Ecstasy in their drinks.
I don’t know if many people know this but Livvy Bennett is a fantastic musician. Incredible guitar player.
Wow, now this short demonstrated how, if done well, a "slow-moving" film with no dialogue can be incredibly scary. I was completely absorbed but also filled with dread. It was terrifying in parts - the camera panning past her when she's standing there with her legs strangely apart in that little girl dress - that completely freaked me out! The change in the music - whoever created the sound after the first song was genius - it added so much to the sense of foreboding and dread. Scared the bejusus out of me wondering what was coming! It was really well done. So much talent! I wasn't nuts about the end shots of her covered in blood - it felt a little 1970's cheese - but the rest was so good. Honestly, why are the people who are making shorts like this getting the opportunity to do features?! I just think of the boring formulaic stuff out there and the shorts Alter shows are so unique and a hundred times scarier and more interesting! I think this film maker has a great future!
So I figured she was hired to help the old couple die, hence the song, but what was she eating? Was she a cannibal that consumed the meat after the people died ? What was with the broccoli? Why did she feed that to the couple? The drinks could’ve had the poison so what’s with the food? Why hack the people up, then it’s going to look more like murder rather than a suicide. Then she goes back down the street with blood all over her drawing attention. Is it becomes nobody would assume it was her anyways? Maybe she was anemic and needed the iron lol. Loved the way it was shot and the zero dialogue, but the story was kinda dumb
I sorta feel the same as you. To artsy fartsy... but I think she is DEATH moving from house to house. The bloody liver and broccoli for a last meal. I cant quite put my finger on what that was suppose to represent. Those people's bodies weren't moved so what was the blood splatter for and from? Maybe to invoke the suddenness of death. I think she was unseen as she walked up the street but the guy smiled and waved but at who..? Her? Like a polite wave of death? The more i critique and hypothesize, the creepy the film seems to get. Lol! I think that's the point.
Any movie that features that many 360 degree pans has to be pretty good. Hitchcock wanted to use one in PSYCHO but he cut it from the final version because he thought it slowed the film down. Here it works perfectly to create a dreamy nightmare feeling.
That shot was so drawn out though. It was pretty boring imo
Weird and definitely wonderful. A little concerned about the possible salacious opening but was soon drawn in by the character’s portrayal of an inner stillness coupled with the hollow-sounding and eerie soundtrack. The film, as a whole, elicited a sense of unease and trepidation throughout; I guess that was your aim? Congratulations to all involved, I have been thoroughly entertained.
Thank you Ed! What kind words for such a horrific film. Thank you for taking the time 🩸🩸🩸🔪🔪🔪
Her completely blank and empty behaviour alludes to her psychopathic nature. Especially the way she just stands still and unblinking in the hallway patiently waiting for her time to carry out her job
I loved this, with the no dialogue surreal creepiness. Very well done!
The 360 panning shot at the end kept me in suspense and was unnerving.I kept wondering what horror I would see on each turn. Brilliant work.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!! 🩸
I thought it stunk. What was it about?
The way she's standing so still in the dark corridor..
Great sound mixing! Even on a laptop it sounded good. Also good work showing that damned broccoli who's boss.

Good Morning ALter!!!!! You made my morning getting notification from ya for a brand new video!!!! Thanks soo much!!🐮🐼🐸🐢💝👻
I can’t be the only one that thought this could’ve been about an eating disorder. And what it meant to be a girl. And that the part where she took with her broccoli but cut to the scene where she’s eating some red meat-like she restricts to the point where her body is eating away at itself. But then the film just took me south
Well..the description certainly doesn't give us much to go in with! LOL! But this was SO FAR from what I was expecting (not that I really had any idea what to expect! 😉) based on the opening sequence alone! This film makes it amazingly clear to me what lighting, sets and soundtrack actually do for a film! This was truly was an amazing film that was as much a piece of art as it was entertaining! It took me to David Lynch, Tarantino, Dario Argento and a bit of Alfred Hitchcock. There is so much in the mood, the sound design, acting and lack of dialogue, that nothing feels missing.
Totally love it. I do wish this was shot on 16mm with anamorphic, to get the dirty 70s look, but, that's not to make it better, its good how it is.

Me too
I think it’s the first assumption... from the name of the movie
i think the people wanted to die and called upon her that's why she put into there drinks so they could die happily with the last dance and bit food ,she might be cannibal but it seems she just helping old people out who wanna die at same time and she got her next meal :P
@@brahimjc good guess

I actually watched this a second time, which I never do, and it struck me as sort of Eraserhead-esque this time around. I was wondering if she was Death, or just a psychotic girl killing her grandparents. In any case, it still freaked me out, especially that 180 degree shot - the suspense and dread in wondering what you would see the second time round was extreme! I thought the actress was great.
Whether she's Death or a psycopath, I do love her completely blank and empty expression as though absolutely nothing brings her joy or happiness

I am a very big fan of ALTER 👌 here the stories are mind-blowing...
To be fair - broccoli and chocolate with a dodgy looking drink has always been my favourite lunch !!!
The sound of the thud thud thud..or was it chop chop chop. It actually sounded like knock knock knock when she chopped the broccoli. I don't know why but it seemed like foreshadowing there and it was actually really affective on me because in my head I saw her going knock knock knock at a person's door next. I honestly think this was my favourite part of the movie...and mean that in a good not sarcastic context.
Disturbing and scary. Great script and acting & filmography !

GIRL ......... YOU'VE GOT ......... ISSUES ...
I had a few thoughts, like maybe:
Zombies.. broccoli in a bag, end of the world scenario where nothing grows anymore and she's the only one who has plants growing at her house lol..or..
Vampires... When she stopped and was eating what looked like something from a bloody raw meat package and dripped blood on her shoe..even though she was out in the sun ..maybe she was a new age vampire who didn't have to be in the dark all the time lol
Then I actually even thought maybe she was like some new age Dr Kevorkian.. she goes there gives the couple a nice last meal ..puts the little poison in their drink they dance they hold each other then they die together lol
Love that lol 😂 😆
