Moonsover326 either your young and havent grown into GOOD MUSIC yet or your grown and just dont like it if the first LISTEN TO THE SONGS. dont just sit there have it as background
I was absolutely shocked when I heard the Iron Maiden-esque version at the opening. I feel the pain in the singer's voice (especially in those impossible high power notes). The guitar solo was complete perfection. I love the original song by Radiohead, but these guys brought out a nice variation to the song. Thanks for posting this.
I saw the Darkness in concert last night in Fremantle Australia, it was excellent. On the way to the concert I was listening to music in my car and Radiohead came on and I was saying to my wife how much I liked the first 3 Radiohead albums. This was just an hour or so before I heard this song for the first time, I had no idea that this even existed, it blew me away.
@@JessicaGriffin-sb1pp in the Radiohead song 'Just' off the album 'The Bends', there's a distinctive riff that opens the song up, a crescendo of distorted guitar. It repeats in the choruses. The Darkness included it here after the first chorus in 'Street Spirit'.
Never got into the darkness due to the cheesiness, which in hindsight was the point, they never took themselves seriously, but you have to appreciate their ability and musicianship, anyone being upset by this great take on this song is missing the point, the point being have a laugh and why get upset because no one but you cares why your upset
It's a point they have also made themselves: they don't take themselves seriously, but they do take the music seriously. And that's why I love them, they're a good time but also have the great musical skills.
Still can't get over the first time I heard this.... Was live and I was right at the front of the audience. Amazing. Radiohead are in me top 5 fave and Darkness in me top 10. Orgasmic
Much better than the original. Their vision is just depressing. Waiting for it to kick in and it never does. But maybe that’s because of the cover 🤷♂️🤣
@@wardjunior1450Of course Radiohead are a superior group to The Darkness, but there's no denying this cover of the original is much more fun and entertaining. I certainly come back to it much more often.
"Greta Van Fleet sound like they did weed exactly once, called the cops, and tried to record a Led Zeppelin album before they arrested themselves." Most entertaining album review I've read in a while. Also I don't know if I can cope with this cover.
I think you may be right. Sneaky little homage to another sublime Radiohead tune. Would be interesting to hear a full Darkness treatment of that one as well.

At least Justin can hit the falsetto😂. You just can’t do Radiohead. Nobody can. I appreciate the fun of sticking a riff from ‘Just’ in the transition. He genuinely loves Radiohead but it’s a little misguided. Fun though!
This is a very good cover version. It's not better than the original, it's good because it's a what a cover version should be, it's different enough so that it sounds like it could be a The Darkness song. Too many cover versions sound so similar to the original that you just think what's the point?
I extremely rarely listened to Radiohead's original of this because it is very, very uncompromisingly 90s isn't everything awful, nobody cares about us, even by Radiohead's standards, however The Darkness have made it fun.
Radiohead original is brilliant! Take a listen. This is a great cover, it's a more metal, speeded up version. I actually liked it. Peter Gabriels cover isn't very good.
The radiohead fans (hipsters and pourists) are hating this, but its a good madafackin cover, the guitar is great. By the way i love the original too, but a big part of the radiohead career is overrated, especially the 00s albums, thats a fact

its a cover, if they tried to remake the whole song to resemble its true meaning, it would be plagiarism. your not behind the guitar or vocals are you? if not then shut your mouth because not every cover is meant to resemble the original. pathetic.
You do sound really pretentious, but I appreciate your efforts! Covers aren’t specifically for any reason. Like have you ever heard Jimi Hendrix All Along The Watchtower? That’s a huge stylistic leap from the Bob Dylan version.
Imaging being so judgemental and taking music so seriously that you can't enjoy this. It's ace. It isn't the original which is also ace, but the point of doing a cover is doing it differently to the original.
Love the original, love this a balls out unapologetic cover from a underrated band.
Love the "Just" reference in after first chorus.
This is an INCREDIBLE cover
Horrendous and wonderful at once, loving the very short nod to Just after the first chorus
i was looking for this comment! (7 years late 😰)
Forty thousand hits worldwide after being posted for four years? A disgrace, Im a Radiohead fan and its a fantastic cover!

First time I heard this song was live at paramount theater loved it ever since !
Justin rules🤟
Only just found this from hearing his podcast. It's the best thing I've heard in years. OUT FUXKING STANDING. FIRE ON FIRE.
Maiden/Priest, The Darkness slay on this cover. Super spin on Radiohead's song - the original is unrecognizable. That's how you do a cover kids!

chetthehoss great cover and first thing I thought was iron maiden
I knew the beginning reminded me of something.
I heard Gods of Wrath by Metal Church.
To be honest the first version of this song I heard was actually the hardstyle version by stephy

Synchronicities like that mean you're on the right track. 🎉❤ 👍
anybody notice the chord progression from "just" at 00:58?
It's the perfect quote to make it both more Radiohead & more heavy metal at the same time, some proper wise cheese
What are the 'Just' references everyone is talking about?

Great fucking original song, redone by another great singer.
The beginning is so Iron Maiden. That riff wow. Nice to hear.
This song it's just a horrible cover. Nothing of this is original.

Love radiohead and this is a cool cover his voice is fantastic haha hitting some crazy notes here.
This is pretty awesome. I've heard alot of covers and they all start sounding the same after awhile. This was a refreshing listen. Good Job.

I just can't get over how freaking metal this mf song is?! Sooo unbelievably epic!!!!! ✨💅🦖💅✨
I always envision Jack black really being on board with this
some reason this came up on my feed 🤷♂️ but my goodness, what a great way to hear an older great tune.
Absolute gem of a cover
Love the original by Radiohead but I ‘Kin love this version 😍
Best thing The Darkness ever did, incredible cover

First time hearing this. Its fooking awesome
I always like it when a band puts their own style on a cover. For another good example, listen to the Proclaimers' 500 Miles covered by Maximo Park.
+haznick Their cover of Just Dance by Lady Gaga is even better, I think. The sense of confusion is really amplified.
Even better, their cover of "Love Me Like You Do" by Justin Timberlake... Maximo Park know what they're doing, and even if nobody else does it works.
Ceremony by joy division , covered by galaxie 500 is one of my favourites
I just listened to Maximo Park's "500 miles" after seeing your comment. It's absolutely f***ing dreadful. 🤦♂️🤣
@@Johnza30 😂 No accounting for taste!
Good effort from the darkness, glad they didn't try and copy the vibe of the original. Not many people could give this song any justice.
Up there with the best covers I've heard. Superb. Helps when the original is pretty much flawless but what a great take.
Fu**ing love this version 😍
Best cover ever +
don't know how i would've felt about this had i not seen it live.. i love it now, very tongue in cheek :)
