I often use my Sheraton at high gain settings when I'm trying to nail the early Rush sound. I'll never be able to afford a Gibson ES-355 like the one Alex Lifeson played in those days, but this guitar does the trick very nicely!
This has been my main gigging guitar for 3 years. It has not let me down once, that's not an exaggeration; sounds great, holds tuning wonderfully, and once you're acquainted with it you can get a huge variety of tones and timbres. Worth far more than the price tag in my opinion.
Got mine last August 2020. Very much like you, I was quite blown away by the details, 18 to 1 tuners, alnico-2 pickups, stability of staying in tune, 5 ply binding all over including the pick guard. Mine with the black on gold bling stuff, it impresses anyone when you open the case. Luv it, luv it. Your review is spot on all your comments.
First of all, I want to thank you for showing the clean tones that this guitar can deliver. Sort of a breath of fresh air considering most of the RUclips videos I see. Having owned a 335 back in the 70's, I had a pretty good idea of what the Gibson could do. But within 10 minutes after sitting down with the Sharton, I knew it was going home with me. Gibson has no lock on quality as far as these semi-hollowsare concerned. The fit, finish, and playability of the guitar were just icing on the cake.
I own a 2019 version of this guitar. For me, it's perfect. I don't know what Gibson has done for the 335 in the past year or two, but in my mind, this blows it away. Great tuners, great neck, and a shape that's easy to hold and use.
I was looking at a 335, then saw the Sheraton. Pulled up your demo, went through the clean country and blues and started having second thoughts. Then you kicked in the gain. Holy crap. Exactly what I’m looking for. And your genuine enthusiasm for the instrument shows. I’m ordering.
@@aaronbarnes2499 You won’t be disappointed, I absolutely love mine. With a Wampler Ratsbane (Rat clone with added features) I can get anything from Foo Fighters to Alice In Chains tones. It’s a fun guitar.
I own a 2008 Sheraton II and it’s my absolute favorite guitar. The neck profile on it is perfect. Sits somewhere right between a chunky 50’s profile and a slim 60’s taper. Though I generally prefer thicker neck, this neck gives a true best of both worlds feel.

As soon as I started playing I could tell the difference. It's like my fingers and the guitar were made for each other. And when I plugged it in... Never going back! Your demo on the Sheraton is outstanding. I’d been in the market for the inspired by Epiphone es335. After this demo and all the ginger on the Sheraton, nyou definitely helped me with my decision to go with the Sheraton. Thank you
I have an 82 Sheraton from Asia. I wouldn't trade it for a 335. Once I replaced some of the hardware (bridge and tuners) it has been a great sounding tool for over 30 years.
That is a great looking guitar, sounds great too. I'm thinking of getting one. Always loved the double cutaway look . Along with the semi hollow. Thanks for the review.
Tried both this and the new es335 in store. The Sheraton definitely wins out in tone and feel. Ps i keep hearing the captain's lick in the beginning hahaha
To me, the Epiphone Sheraton is equivalent or (slightly) better than the Gibson ES-335. I could easily take a couple of paragraphs to describe how beautiful this guitar is. Instead, all I will say is that this is something that Epiphone has to be proud of.
There's a side-by-side with a Gibson somewhere, and it compares very fabvorably, IMO. Definitely some tonal distinctions in some ranges in some settings, but I can't say I like one more than the other. I do prefer less ornate appointments, but Epiphone carries it well. Only change I would make is adding a Varitone (type) switch, which I have on all of my electrics -- guitars, basses, and baritone.
Had a Sheraton many years ago but gave it to my nephew when he was getting started playing as a birthday gift. Wish i would have kept it but like these even more . Thanks for helping me know what to look for. Must try and support local business, especially since covid and two ,back to back, hurricanes. Thanks Larry , great one !
I really appreciate that they went with "aged" white plies on the pickguard, so as to match the binding. Gibson/Epiphone typically uses bright white, which is "vintage correct", but looks awful. These have been very nice guitars since the upgrade to the ProBucker pickups a few years ago. I have ALMOST pulled the trigger on one several times, but, I find the neck uncomfortably thin and I have an aversion to gold hardware. Nice, thorough review.

It’s a great guitar. What amp settings? Treble up high? Mine in full hum bucker mode sounds less bright than yours but probably just my amp settings. Very versatile guitar. Covers a lot of music. The coil splitting feature is something I use a lot. Just a bit heavy hanging from your neck after an hour or so. Hey Epiphone, why no newly introduced '62 headstock, now used on most Epiphone guitars, on the Sheraton?
