Jesus why cant they make tracks like this these days? Tracks that create that instant euphoric high and have timeless sound? This was the heyday of progressive trance and most living who were blessed enough to experience that era would claim it was the pinnacle of the entire musical genre of electronic music!
I agree, this was before my time, born 1988, but the early-mid 90's seem like a very special time for electronic music. I'm so thankful that the internet exists, or I never would have heard this, or other masterpieces like "A Day On Our Planet."
It's clearly not the same at all. Just listen to the tracks side by side. At the 2:50 mark in this one, the breakdown is completely different. This version has a higher pitched synth pattern that is dropped at the breakdown and it's timber is completely different than the one in Sasha's version. Listen to the breakdown at the 1:00 mark in Sasha's version. The build up is longer, more ambientish and the synth pattern fades in slowly. There's also no point in this version in which Sasha could cut this version up to skip to that buildup. It's a different version that's been hard for me to find. So hard to find that I'm probably going to end up buying vinyl. It's not uncommon for CD's/websites to list the wrong version for songs. For example, Paul Oakenfold's New York GU lists the wrong version of Jamie Myerson's Rescue Me (it's the butcher radio edit) And by the way DJ's can't just selectively add echo and flange to a track. If it had echo, everything would be echoing. Even if they limited it to certain frequencies (like flange on the high end) it would be on everything in those frequencies (high hats, synths, sweeping noises, etc.). That's not how DJing works.
I guess I can see Sasha skipping the breakdown in this version at the 2:50 mark, adding a bunch of effects like he did at the very beginning of both CDs, and just fading this one back in to skip the annoying synth at the 2:50 mark. The rest of the track sounds about right except for the 4:22 mark sounds like Sasha skips to the 6:07 mark here. The synth at 6:07 fades in more here than in Sasha's but he has had another song mixed in for a while by the 4:22 mark. Do you think he did all this editing in software? Live would be extremely impressive.
It sounds different at around 4:22 point because that's when Sasha begin playing Twilo Thunder. Doesn't fade it in; just presses play and that it. He plays both tracks simultaneously for a good two minutes until that 6:07 mark where he begins to fade out Change Me. It's a master stroke.
@@NewtonGonzalez thank you 😊it's a gem. Takes me back to when fabric first opened with sasha and digweed doing 5 hour back to back sets , ah good times

This version sounds very close to the one on Sasha's GU San Fran but it's not the same. Anyone know what version that one is?

I knew they weren't live from the club but I assumed they mixed them in studio on decks I suppose.
Point still stands. He heavily edited this version. He didn't just "pitch it down" and add "flange and echo".
