They sure skimmed over little Congos death real quick. So sad thinking that little baby, so loved by his family just suddenly died or disappeared pretty much in the first hour of them gettin full access. His sister adored him and helped hjs mother look after him. Extremely weird he would die at all let alone that quickly. Obviously there wasn't a lot of info to go off of but I feel they brushed passed it so quick barely giving it the acknowledgment I think it deserved. The little guy was so damn cute, I was heartbroken when I heard he was there and then just gone.😢

That mother gorilla came running to the humans for help, displaying not only intelligence, but also deep emotion and ... trust in the humans who, sadly, ignored her cry for help with scientific coldness or perhaps lack of emotional intelligence to understand the panic of a young mother in the process of losing her baby.

@user-bk5nj1qo6n I completely agree. I just kept screaming "You don't have the right to do this". They don't have the right to do ANY of it. Who the hell do they think they are? Everything about this situation is messed up. These people are supposed to be educated? When I saw the one gorilla they had allowed to be injured over and over by the aggressive one, before they rubbed their brain cells together to decide to separate them, my heart broke. Then when I saw Mbeke's forehead smack the cement ground HARD, I really have to question these so-called scientists competence. And now I'm seeing you've made their new home a place where their feet will be full of thorns. Rich men get what the hell they want, and in their minds, we are all toys to experiment on. There aren't many of us left with consciences or the ability to feel empathy for anyone other than ourselves.

The baby with the villagers was a different baby than the baby that the scientists left with its mother in the lagoon.
The mother of the baby with the villagers was murdered by the villagers so they could sell the baby to make money. The scientists could not convince the villagers to give them the baby for free so that baby was left with the villagers.

Other groups have successfully rehomed captive gorillas and chimpanzees. These groups should have been consulted to discuss what went right and what went wrong in their efforts before any action was taken by this group. This group of scientists seemed to not have studied and thought about all of the problems that could be involved and then implemented a true plan that covered contingencies.
When you are dealing with different groups of people it is necessary to understand what is important to each group.
For example, take the villagers. The scientists just went to one house where the people had murdered the mother gorilla to get the baby and the scientists tried to convince that family that there wasn't any money to be made selling the baby so just give the baby to them. It was obvious that the family wanted and needed money to buy food, clothing, land, etc. for their own family members. The scientists offered the villagers NOTHING for SOMETHING.
It seemed that no one had ever had any contact with VERY important groups of people, the political leaders and the contributors/investors, to have successful interactions and negotiations.
Let's talk about the scientists and the purpose of the Research Facility. The big facility that they worked for had a totally different purpose than to rehome primates. Their purpose was to use primates for medical research purposes. The chimps and gorillas were housed in small cages, not in any natural setting where they had any real social interaction with humans. And where was the recognized expert in rehoming that should have been on the team?
Now for the most needed part of any project anywhere - MONEY!! Was enough money provided by generous and caring donor(s) to get this project to a successful outcome? If you don't have a donor with a big wallet who is given good reasons to give a large portion of that wallet over to a project which he/she cares about and sees a purpose to support, there isn't a reason for that person or group to hand it over to that project.

Very sad; a baby was lost and that didn't have to happen. Very sad. Clearly, the way this release would have to be done is give them a little more area each day until the caged area is so big you can completely take down walls, which would take a lot of money..or have a team that goes and stays with them in the forest until they are deemed comfortable. Only a family without a baby should be submitted for this release.

Why the hell are these "researchers" playing with these gorillas lives??!! Something killed the baby or it was dropped and injured and left to die - what did these people do about it? It happened in less than an hour!!! This was obviously NOT the way to do this! I'm sorry, but more experienced zoologists, vets, animal care specialists - whatever, should have been involved here. Seeing the mother walking upright and back with no baby, looking so distraught, was one of the most upsetting things I've ever seen! It should not have been done this way! I just find it hard to stomach! Damn. Damn Damn.

Wouldn't the daughter gorilla will have to be relocated so that the father will not mate with her?

    • @KathyPrendergast-cu5ci
      @KathyPrendergast-cu5ci 5 месяцев назад +4

I wondered about that too. In the wild when a female gorilla reaches puberty she typically starts to wander away from her family group in search of an unrelated male to mate with; it's an instinctive thing to prevent inbreeding. Young males also leave their family troops but usually at a slightly older age. In this case, if there are no other gorillas on the island, the daughter would probably be inclined to stay with her family, as they don't like to be solitary.

    • @redlipstickmafia

@@KathyPrendergast-cu5ci Except that these gorillas' natural lives have been totally destroyed by these useless "scientists." We already know that gorillas are smart, majestic, gentle, amazing animals. WTF. I can't believe they put that poor baby in a situation where it immediately died. Intensely irresponsible.

I love great apes and all animals, and I believe wild animals should stay wild. I can’t stand seeing a wild animal kept in an apartment, only to be abandoned later. Thanks again. You have broken my heart with your experiment.
I have cried for days. You destroyed this beautiful family. You have zero common sense. A newborn released into the wild ?!?!
Natural Habitat?!?! Their natural habitat is the medical facility where they were care d for and had shelter.
    You left them without shelter
You left the baby so vulnerable
You left the family vulnerable, no shelter, they don’t know how to forage for food
What the hell were you thinking
    What happens when it rains
    They fear gettting wet
Look at them at a zoo setting and see
    I am so upset
    I grieve this wonderful family
    They cherished their little Congo
    Shame on you all
How will you make this right
    Make it right
In China, at least, they provided container type shelters for their release
Are you going to Dave/ rescue your experiment family
Or will you leave the beautiful family to perish
    Profound sadness and tears

My God, not only should they lose whatever license or permission they got to screw around with ("research"🙄) the lives of these beautiful critically endangered creatures, they should never be allowed to go near gorillas again, in fact they should be held LEGALLY responsible for CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE, hell, for CRIMINAL PRE-MEDITATED ENDANGERMENT of this FAMILY!!!!!!!!! Yes, this was a FAMILY!!!! Better than a lot of humans, that's for sure - certainly better than the humans who did this to them! 😡

Great documentary. I hate it when I see poachers kill the momma to sell the baby. This is so sad. I love gorillas and it makes me so angry to see this happen. I am torn between captivity (zoos) and leaving all gorillas in their natural habitat, so this is the only reason I would agree with wildlife being in captivity, safe from poachers. It was for his own good, but at 21:46, that was funny. The ending was sad. Poor Congo!☹

Look up THE ASPINALL FOUNDATION in England. It's a charity that runs two wildlife parks and conservation projects around the world. They've been doing it for several generations of the Aspinall family, and unlike the types of travesties seen in this video, they actually KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND THEY LOVE THE ANIMALS THAT THEY CARE FOR. THEY ARE DEDICATED AND DON'T PLAY AND EXPERIMENT I THE NAME OF "RESEARCH." They work to promote wildlife conservation, habitat conservation, PROTECT ENDANGERED SPECIES, and return captive animals back to the wild. The son of the founder runs the charity (Damian Aspinall,) with the help of his daughters and a large group of dedicated people.
