- Today we start a new series of videos, but the name of A BOMBASTIC CONSPIRACY. In this first episode, I speculate on the future of premium bandai and potentially what tamashii nations has in store for it. Now of course I'm mainly looking at it from a s.h.figuarts dragon ball line but other series lines that they have the license to produce are not exempt from this conspiracy and speculation.
With that being said, all the different figures that are coming out this year budgeting is going to be quintessential, that is if we are trying to be financially responsible, while still enjoying our hobby of collecting action figures, especially with the prices of Action figures nowadays, But perhaps your financial situation allows you to purchase figures with no problem at all in that case. I'm trying to get like you 😂😂.

@@jaystackz4292 I have a feeling any villain from GT will get the P-Bandai treatment purely because it's an older series and people tend to not buy them if they're not the protagonists.

@@rmartinez1993 I pre ordered Super 17. Imma buy SSJ4 Goku and SSJ4 Vegeta at some point. Imma just get SSJ4 Gogeta, Super Baby 2 and Omega Shenron even if they’re premium bandai exclusives. After I get those characters I ain’t touching the premium bandai website again
I recently started collecting SH Figuarts. I pre ordered Super 17 cuz I love GT so much. I ain’t gon get a lot of SH Figuarts cuz thats too much money. Imma just get certain characters and call it quits. I just want God Goku, SSB Goku, God & SSB Vegeta, SSJ4 Goku, SSJ4 Vegeta, SSJ4 Gogeta, Final Form Frieza, Perfect Form Cell, Kid Buu, Super Baby 2 and Omega Shenron. Those r the only ones imma buy overtime for now. Maybe i’ll change my mind but thats all I decided to buy for now
All i know is that figuarts gotta get their shit together. 3rd party is kicking their ass and even bootlegs now. Just got the legendary super saiyan goku bootleg and gave him a dope repaint for less than $20.

Actually...it is in my opinion. I can't speak for all the copies out there, but mine didn't have any quality control issues and comes with everything the original does. The funny thing is that I've had the official imperfect cell just fall apart on me and not this bootleg.

Even, it doesn’t make sense having some figures as “premium bandai” or exclusives for Bandai itself, because when you make rare figures that everybody wants you give chances to “companies without licenses” to replicate your figures or make them better (Broly, majin vegeta…) or bandai make us think that the figure is not going to have future improvements so we buy heads, arms or accessories to that Chinese companies. That is not good for Bandai and even for us because at the end of the day we pay more for having a figure as we like.
I saw a video a while back that compared regular releases with P-Bandai year after year. The P-Bandai ratio increased steadily, even though it dipped in some year, it's an upward trend.
In the past, it was only figures that are recolors or slightly different that became exclusive, but they changed to include those Tamashii thinks won't sell to now I guessed anything goes.
The only plus side is P-Bandai doesn't sell out the moment pre-orders open like regular release does. But the negative is that they don't get reissued unless it's a con exclusive. That's not to say regular releases get reissued often too, like for example Fat Buu is one that I want but it only gets one con exclusive, whereas legendary SS Goku and Trunks (Boy from the future) gets reissued almost immediately.
The main reason I'm pretty sure why they're doing so many P-Bandai releases is because they get to cut out the middle man which is the retailers and they make more money that way because when Bandai makes figures for mass market, they have to sell to the retailers and the retailers won't buy unless Bandai sells it to them for a price(which is much, much lower than MSRP) where they can make a profit. So by Bandai making all these DBZ figure's P-Bandai, they are able to not only save money by not having to make big production runs for the mass market, but they are also able to make 100% of the profits from each figure sold as they are able to sell them at MSRP DIRECTLY to the customer.

I get nearly everything from other sites for cheaper so idrc about P Bandai but it’s nice to have as a backup before eBay
I blame the resellers. They buy up the general releases and resell at price points higher than pbandai so I’d rather just pay pbandai.

I actually think P-Bandai “Gold” could be dope. If, it did something like, all subscribers get at least x1 of each release reserved for like a week or something? Shit like that would make these subs worth to me. Actual reservations.

They overprizing shiz nowadays how was mecha frieza like 80 bucks dr gero small ass figure for like 70 bucks same with the other anddoid.
And then there's Yamcha with a retool 2.0 body going for 65.

My friend, I already have a sneaking suspicion that Perfect Cell will be premium Bandai. Even Kid Buu could be. I dread the scenario, but those are the only ones I want along with Second form/Semi-perfect Cell to be done with the line. So, I’ll have to take their bait even if PBandai, barring any QC issues people find in the wild. (I’d also love a fusion reborn Gogeta and a Janemba. Future Gohan and OG Dragon Ball Yamcha with Puar would be nice too.)
After final form Frieza, I’ve lost hope that anyone other than Goku and Vegeta will be general releases. Just a Gohan here and a Trunks there don’t cut it. DB line is certainly one of their flagship lines, but they never hesitate to make a killing with over 80% of their releases exclusively in P-Bandai hahaha.
Let’s not forget that many P-Bandai releases last year turned out to be duds. (2024 PB releases have been decent so far.) Their “premium” pricing and their preorder policies mean we’re stuck with those duds or we gotta spend extra time to sell them. Again, a problem stemming from monopoly - no rules/ no challenges. The third-parties are doing well, but I’m afraid the value for money of their products isn’t what it used to be. (DF for instance. I don’t do Kong due to their pricing and their mostly pathetic QC.)

This is why 3rd Party NEEDS to be supported. And anyone calling them thieves needs to be corrected. I really hate when people say 3rd party is stealing IP, because are artist in Artist Alley at cons charging for their commissions thieves?

To me living in the United States actually PBandai is the cheapest I can get this figures. Regular releases skyrocket in a couple of days unless they are the economic cheap 40 something bucks release.
I honestly don’t understand why beast Gohan was a premium Bandai release. Piccolo I can understand to a certain extent. That’s what made me get a premium bandai account.
I’m glad I got my piccolo at the warehouse event and didn’t pay the regular prices I basically got him for 50$

A lot of us are adult so we can think for ourselves why some of their figs are PB and some arent.
Imo, FP frieza is an exclusive just because people will really be pinned against the wall to get him, since Legendary SSJ goku is so easily accessible.
I bought two legendary SSJ goku's for 140. And im pretty sure that might be the price for just one FP frieza.
Same for beast piccolo and gohan.
