If you want to always have 4A to the motor, I would go with the SMC01 and external driver...., till 3A it is Ok, at the end depends on the load in your motor.

Hi I have another question, I have decided to use a separate stepper driver but can I remove the driver from the ZK-SMC 02 and just use the controller? Effectively turning it into a 01.

Yes you can, if you remove the driver from the SMC02, you will see a SMC01 but without the main connector, you just need either to solder the connector or solder the cables directly like if would be SMC01....

Great video. What is the voltage of controller Dc+ and Dc-? Is it same as the driver 12 V, or not ?

Does not need to be the same, but if you have already 12V from the driver you can use that.
