Our team danced with Beltane in Ilfracombe,very recently.I can tell you,they are one of the best "Border" teams in the whole Country.Very hypnotic sound with the drums,and violins.....plus a guitar in there!!!

That being said it's quite possible that people fused it with local folk dances which could very well have pagan roots.
