  • Front planks are respectable core exercises. However, some unique alternatives and side planks might be better for people with a history of low back. Side planks target deeper core muscles and more surface area of abdominal muscles that help protect the lower back.
    Front planks have a high amount of hip flexor activation that compresses the lower back.

    Side planks or single arm kettlebell carrys,
    I'm trying both and still haven't made up my mind which is best,
    but either way I do feel better in my lower back.

    Great video, I don't know why but the Copenhagen plank hurts my knee.

      it places a decent amount of valgus stress at the knee. I should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks for pointing it out.
