  • Indonesia boasted the two largest deepwater discoveries of 2023 (Layaran and Geng North) from two different basins. Indonesia aims to reach1 million barrels of oil per day (mmbopd) and 12 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day (Bcfpd) - up from ~0.6 mmbopd and ~6 Bcfpd - essentially doubling its oil and gas production.
In this video we give an update on the Andaman Sea - Gayo (Harbour Energy), Layaran, Timpan and May 2024 discovery Tangkulo-1 (Mubadala). Onshore Sumatra Bentu block (Energi Mega Persada) update and the Akatara oil field redevelopment for its 64 Bcf of recoverable gas (Jadestone Energy).
In the Natuna Sea area we take a look at Ande-Ande Lumut (AAL, Prima Energi) heavy oil discovery, which has just had its plan of development approved. The Mako gas field is also under development in the West Natuna Exploration area. We also cover East Kalimantan Geng North (ENI), East Seram PSC farm-out update (Lion Energy), Kepe-Kepe discovery (BP) in West Papua along with ongoing drilling in the Berau PSC looking to feed into the Tangguh LNG plant and potential CCS store. Finally we look at upcoming licence round plans for Indonesia.
