I’m probably part of a small minority that likes the ER Megatron over the Siege Megatron. The new fusion canon feels like a great benefit with it being slightly longer than the first one. The neck joint isn’t as bad of a pain in the arse as was siege, and holds itself together a bit better. I don’t know if anyone else had this problem, but my siege Megatron’s ankles were horrendously loose where I needed a figure stand to hold him up. That isn’t the case with ER Megatron his ankles can support him and have satisfying friction. When I saw his “recoil spear” (that’s what I call it) the blade with forearm gauntlet look reminded me of his eject-able blade on his fusion canon from TFP. Like I said, this figure has been one the most debated Megatron figures we’ve had in a while but I honestly choose him over siege oddly.

I was in the exact same boat! That itch got the best of me. Mine came in the mail this morning and I'm glad I decided to get him.
He CAN hold the spear better in robot mode. That little post that plugs into the fusion canon for tank mode fits in his hand, and does so better if you plug it into the bottom of the hand. And the little square area around that peg is sized almost exactly to his hand size, his hand is almost completely concealed when holding the spear.

Patriot Prime, thanks for doing your review of the TF WFC ER Megatron. For various reasons, sadly, we'll never get Hasbro to do a true G1 Megatron. I've gone to third party to get a G1 Megatron.
I know exactly how you feel about getting that itch. Until this week, the only Earthrise figure I had was Ironworks. This Monday, I saw the last Trailbreaker in the Target and on sale too. I just couldn’t say no.
yer Hasbro dropped the ball with that second weapon it should of been a seperate sword and barrel and yes i wish the port on his back was lower so you could then use the barrel like the G1 style and he would still of had the sword. The G2 Recolor looks great and fits the mod much better I think they should of left off the battle damage it takes away from the figure.
I already have the SIEGE version 3 times but I'm REALLY tempted to get the G2 colored version of this one because G2 LOL!

Meg's backpack is hollow, so I drilled a 5mm hole roughly 1 inch from the bottom of his backpack on the right side. Now the barrel-spear pegs in nicely on his lower back and give Meg his iconic over-the-shoulder gun barrel. Don't know why a port wasn't put there in the first place.
I do like this one except for the head. His crows peak makes him look like Eddie Munster! Great comparison!
Perhaps, the couple of details that I do not like about this Megatron figure are his head that looks like that of a Roman legionnaire and his sword added to that cannon. I'm not going to worry about having it in my collection. Thanks Patriot Prime for the review, happy weekend!
The Megatron of the Artwork looks more like Siege Megatron than Earthrise Megatron, the backpack is identical to the siege one
I do prefer his Siege look more, and that's because his head sculpt just looks better than Earthrise. I'll probably wait for the Netflix version to come out and see if they update his head.
Honestly, I feel like flushing my money down the toilet would be a greater investment than getting this figure.
Wait to see in person though the G2 version I just may pick up as I wonder if Toyhax would do anything with him. Hoping for a homage to fact that Cobra gave him the look to begin with. Maybe a decal on the underfoot of a crushed Cobra trooper and a hidden message sticker maybe dissing Serpentor.
On that new take. Well Animated's Helicopter comes to mind and then the bomber from the early IDW books.
Doubt ever see a gun mode but another idea to me could be a nod to Godzilla films and one of the Maizer Cannons

The head sculpt on siege is better in my opinion. Great review.

Oh so you went in on him. Why or why the battle damage on earthrise megatrons legs ? I used my siege megatron crouch (no spots) and swapped it onto the netflix version (only spots) .I now have a zero battle damage good looking Megatron.
They could make a part that would fill the gap that’s exposing his head.
I almost passed on this guy but I'm very glad I didn't. Mine just arrived. He did need a bit of floor polish on the ankles but they fixed my issues with the Siege. Is there a Tooyhax set for ER Megatron yet?

Tank form in that one is good weapon no.

I think Hasbro needs to make a version of Megatron as a triple changer....having robot, gun, and tank mode and be G1 accurate. How cool would that be.
Megatron will NEVER be a gun again. At least here in America.

I'm most likely going to keep my 35 anniversary megatron because that guy looks beautiful i love the paint and yeah thats going to be my g1 megatron sorry earthrise megatron
I don't particularly care for the Megatron figures that look like G1 in robot mode but transform into a tank.
Megatron will never be a hand gun again, we have to accept it and move on. A tank is a great alternative as it's technically still a 'gun', just a really, REALLY big one that can drive around.
@@BertTheStormtrooper That’s fine. But G1 Megatron wasn’t a tank. Luckily 3rd party makers have made several good G1 Megatrons at different sizes.
@@BertTheStormtrooper Honestly It'd be better if they went with G2 Megatron (Design wise, because not everyone's into his weird cammo) instead of forcing G1 in an altmode that doesn't fit him (with this i mean the weird proportins most G1 Styled Megs have)
MMM... Great review as always, but this is an easy pass for me... Instead of the cool sword we got that Spear, cannon, shield thing... I don´t like that head for G1 Megatron, I see that more as G2 Megatron, now that Green Repaint for this mold, that is something I am going to get! I just love it!
I won't get him. I feel like I got tricked and if I could go back in time, I would only get the Netflix one and maybe the G2 recolor of ER Megatron only.
Did you put the shield in backwards (in tank mode)?
I could have but the other way didn't allow it to lay flat.

Not a fan of the Earthrise head sculpt. Chin looks too big. Nothing ruins a figure like an ugly head.
Earthrise superior. Siege inferior.

Shame that this figure just ruins the best G1 Megatron figure mold :(
