I have to agree :) Although I'm not sure for the same reason. You break things down in a way I have never seen another RUclips creator do. Like breaking down color theory and little nuances that I honestly wouldn't think of myself in that way. It's refreshing. (Example being the video you did on Chantecaille. The little nuances on how colors pull through on your skin amd with each other, etc). My mom passed away before I was able to get into makeup. I grew up with a bunch of dudes. I finally got into makeup in the last five years or so. It's always interesting to see your take on things. I really enjoy your videos and almost always take away something to think on. Again, probably not why the original commenter said what they said. But there you go😂❤
@@kackie IDK, it's just diffrent. How you don't have "standard" procedure. I do eyes first since I'm clumsy and finish with blush. I also don't correct much or add midway too. You're basicly "jumping" around the face to make sure everything is in perfect harmony. And I love it, I will 💯 try to use some of your techniques in my make-up routine.
I SO agree with this!! The way Kackie talks about makeup and how her mind works while applying it is so unique and fascinating to listen to. It's like a glimpse into the mind of a true artist and I live for it
@Kackie Reviews Beauty Agreed with Bridget, it's in the way you build your looks layer by layer rather than facial feature by feature. I am also super picky about skin/cheek/eye/lip colors being in complete harmony with one another and it's very refreshing to see a beauty RUclipsr with that same level of neuroticism haha
YES please! I would be so DOWN for that type of video showcasing indigenous makeup brands as I was not aware, but I am so eyeying that Prados beauty palette now HOLY COW it's gorgeous, please show us more! :)
Re: art school: there's also something to be said about the [possible] networking that comes from being in a formal degree program. Unfortunately, a lot of creative fields still heavily rely on the idea of "it's not what you know, but who you know." I'm a working beauty photographer, but my degree isn't in photography (art history and gender studies, with an unofficial minor in studio art), and I've chatted with other photographer friends who will just casually mention having assisted [big name photographer] because one of their professors knew them, or something like that. There are additional, "invisible" resources offered from degree programs that no one really talks about, but are still there nonetheless. (Sidebar: if you haven't read "Tell Me I'm An Artist" by Chelsea Martin yet, I recommend it.)
I know that Hourglass lipstick was not what you were hoping for, but it is a really beautiful soft orange creamsicle-ish shade on you for the summertime!
I would love to see a video focusing on / comparing all your purple/lavender blushes (and lip products?)! like the Make Beauty stick, and the Finding Ferdinand one too
Yes! ( On the "art school" question ) The exposure to so many of the arts & media, the community, the ability to be free and do It, your It, not a corporate's It, not the gallery circuit's It, but your It.
We're skin twins! I can get the same shade in concealers and foundations as you and they match my skin exactly. I also can tell how certain colors will look on me from watching your vids and that has saved me a lot of money. You and Hannah have taught me almost everything I know about color theory as well. 💚🖤😁
❤️❤️❤️love that you are exploring native brands!!! I am putting a prados order together w some friends. hope they get the lotions & soaps back soon, I am a hippy dippy at 🫀! But that land back lippy is a must!!!
A masters degree in art seems to be most useful for someone who chooses to teach art rather than someone who really wants to produce art. My son has a bachelors in art from UC Berkeley, but after that, he went to art school, but did not go for a masters degree because he just wanted to get on with producing art - - he didn’t want to teach it. And now he is fortunate enough to make a living creating art. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Your lipstick reaction unlocked my memory of when all these influencers werre wearing this lime crime lipstick and I bought it so excited to have it and it was that same unnatural nude orange shade. Thanks
Kackie, Spring time is around the corner. Would you review liquid bronzers to tint foundation to make the complexion color changes. The Iconic looks promising but I’m looking at the older Clinique Glow Gelee since it has no shimmer? Please and thank you.
Right. I like that tarte wand a well but for those trying to find a dupe, it’s not. It’s different colour and it has a glow that the Charlotte doesn’t have. Also, that tarte blush is cruelty free! I was trying to find a cruelty free version for such a long time.. so cruelty free and 9 dollars cheaper, is a win win! Nice video 💕
Quick chatgpt search says the pH reactive ingredient commonly used in makeup is called Red 27 or CI 45410. Some companies might use the name variations "Red 27 Lake" or "Red 27 Aluminum Lake." Hope this helps :)
I’m a new-ish subscriber (came over from Hannah Louise Poston!) and I had no idea about your art background. Totally explains your nuance with colour theory etc! Also LOL HLP saying I’m gonna buy that is hilarious! 😂
I'm glad you tried this lip because I was contemplating it as I love cooler toned lipsticks. Definitely looks coral... Nothing like the photos online, I agree with you!
I've got a couple friends who tried to get MFAs and ended up not doing so for two main reasons: firstly, it's really only useful if you want to teach at the higher level and secondly it was an incredibly toxic environment. But the networking was good, although not as good to make the experience worth it
Loooovvvveeee that coral blush! I have really red cheeks so I have to be careful what blush color I wear so as not to look like paintface .... but that color is so gorgeous, I'm wondering if I could make it work. I'm thinking of I got the more orangey-peach color it may turn coral with my red/pink face! Talk about color theory lol
I went through like 4 tubes of the regular IT Cosmetics CC cream back in the day (in like 2016-2018) and I think they changed the colors? I know they expanded the range, but the palest shade is darker than it used to be. It used to be akin to around a MAC NC10 with a nice undertone that was yellow without changing the depth of color. I tried the glow version recently and the finish is pretty, I just couldn't find a good shade match. A bit bummed by their line, honestly.
Every lip product I’ve ever gotten from Hourglass looks wildly different from the online photos, to the point that my favorite lippie came from accidentally picking the wrong color once 😂
Skin twin. Love it. I realized from Kosas and some other products you’ve used that we ARE skin twins lol. So it’s very helpful for me to watch u apply stuff cause then I can get a sense of how it would look on my skin
I got the CT concealer in shade 1 (when it was free gift from sephora) and as pale as I am, it's too light, so I mix it with the hourglass concealer (which is too dark) and it seems to make a really good shade with a nice finish, blends in with my foundation, and lasts all day. But I hate it on its own, it looks glittery.
I also got my BFA with the intention of the MFA afterwards, didn't go that route, but I wouldn't trade my experience getting a BFA. I loved working around other very different artists, and basically immersing myself in that world. I loved all the resources available, the connections, experimenting... I did studio art and computer animation. (Sometimes I still want my MFA but I really don't want the debt.)
Kackie-thanks for another great video! I find myself transfixed on your style of applying makeup, as others here have stated. I got 3 shades of the HG lipsticks-1 of them being in the shade u have, “Tide”. I didn’t like it as much as the other 2-“Lotus” and “Oasis”. I think “Oasis” is cooler and would look stellar on you! Just a thought. Xoxo❤😍~Molly
I wish that Salt NY would come to the uk. Coral is just not something I can get to work for me. I am too pink I think and it just makes me feel like a clown when I wear it. I love it on everyone else though. Jealous
I thought Too Faced had had that packaging for ages now? on the bronzers....am I wrong? I have a bronzer from them that I have had for a few years in that package.Perhaps its just the blush in this packaging htat is new? My Too Faced blush is one of the cutsy hart shaped ones.
In the pantheon of cool brown lips: can anybody share a comparison of Nyx Butter Gloss Cinnamon Roll (a favorite of mine and I believe a cult classic before a reformulation) to some of these new popular ones like the Ami Cole? I'm tempted to branch out but don't want to end up with dupes.
Not a gloss but definitely has shine: Merit Signature Lipstick in L'avenue. It's my favorite lip shade ever and very comparable to Cinnamon Roll. Merit's glosses in Taupe and Falcon might also be close to what you're lookin for.
The same thing happened to me with that exact shade! I only got it because I thought it would be the softest cool pink…straight up orange beige. Ugh. I didn’t need a new lipstick. I just wanted the shade it was supposed to be 😢
Would love to see an indigenous owned brand video! Just a heads up for if/when you film: in Canada it’s either Indigenous or First Nations, not native canadian :)
I returned the Too Faced blusher (kudos for being one of the few UK brands that takes used returns) I found it smelled horrible, didn't blend well and had a cheap looking chalky finish. I have the Gucci blushes and the finish is MUCH MUCH better by a very very long way
I wanted to like the new hourglass lipsticks. But I don’t like them at all. The colors are so off. And they showed every line on my lips. It wasn’t flattering at all. So many said it was moisturizing but I found it drying.
I got one of those Hourglass lipsticks in Oasis & it was so pale. I have pretty pigmented lips for my skin tone & this color was supposed to be a neutral lip color. It was so weirdly light and waxy on my lips, it just sat on top of them. RETURNED happily.
I have never seen any beauty content maker doing their make-up the way you're doing. It's so fascinating, different and it actually makes sense.
how so?? i'm intrigued...
I have to agree :) Although I'm not sure for the same reason. You break things down in a way I have never seen another RUclips creator do. Reeding. I think the notches on the sides of coins is called 'reeding.'
OH! Thank you!!!

The grooved edges are called reeded. 🥰

Oh God, I think I owned that shade too. It looked so bad on me and for some reason the two shades I bought were so unflattering and expensive 😭

I heckin' love your art as backgrounds.

What shade did you use in the Tarte contour wand please? Soft bronze or cool bronze? Thanks!
soft bronze!
Legend has it that Matt White is still roaming the earth to this day, waiting for Kackie to pay him back...

I feel extremely confident if you and HLP agree on the “need” of a particular product it is an item I need to add to my collection for sure

Milgrain or reeded edges (like a coin). Lovely look!
I would love to see you compare the Gucci rosy bronzer vs the new jones rd rosy bronzer!!
Every lip product I’ve ever gotten from Hourglass looks wildly different from the online photos, to the point that my favorite lippie came from accidentally picking the wrong color once 😂
Hi Kackie, what shade bronzer in the Hause Labs?? ❤
Ami Cole mascara is fabulous 💜
Skin twin. Love it. I realized from Kosas and some other products you’ve used that we ARE skin twins lol. So it’s very helpful for me to watch u apply stuff cause then I can get a sense of how it would look on my skin
Say Matt white 3x in a mirror and you owe him money
hahahahahahahaha

The color changing ingredient in Make up is either RED 21, 27 or 28. RED 27 is the most used one, and the one that turns the pinkest.

The name of the edge or rim of the compact is called a “Reeded Edge” or “grooved edge”. I’m also a nerd on things like that. Lol
Thanks for saying that boy tears has some peach! You saved me a purchase lol HLP style
Is the word your looking for “fluted” edge?
I really want to see an indepth colour theory video ...and maybe a series!
Also I kinda loved the music you played as you sped up the video !
“I still owe him money…”😂
I wish that Salt NY would come to the uk.
Coral is just not something I can get to work for me. I am too pink I think and it just makes me feel like a clown when I wear it. I love it on everyone else though. Jealous
Did I miss what shade the contour wand was in?? I didn’t hear it in the video
soft bronze! sorry!
I thought Too Faced had had that packaging for ages now? on the bronzers....am I wrong? I have a bronzer from them that I have had for a few years in that package.Perhaps its just the blush in this packaging htat is new? My Too Faced blush is one of the cutsy hart shaped ones.

we seriously need to send a call out for Matt White !!!
Did that lip color get more orange while it was on??? 🤔
Tarte was never drugstore but were they always at this price point?
Honestly I'm not sure? I do remember always being like "dang" at their prices, but I feel like their products were always HUGE, too.
Did that brown lip gloss cut in make anyone else jump 😭😭
The same thing happened to me with that exact shade! I only got it because I thought it would be the softest cool pink…straight up orange beige. Ugh. I didn’t need a new lipstick. I just wanted the shade it was supposed to be 😢
EXACTLY!
I have to go to class soon but you darn well know I’m going to watch a Kackie video first. Happy Monday :)
aww :D
Would love to see an indigenous owned brand video! Just a heads up for if/when you film: in Canada it’s either Indigenous or First Nations, not native canadian :)

u looks so pretty😍😍😍
thank you!
My husband is a chemist, I'm going to ask him about ph adjusters
Excuse me ma’am, your unsponsored was below the fold 😂
HAHAHAHAHAHA
⌛ 💄 definitely 🍊 💋
I wanted to like the new hourglass lipsticks. But I don’t like them at all. The colors are so off. And they showed every line on my lips. It wasn’t flattering at all. So many said it was moisturizing but I found it drying.
❤❤❤❤
I got one of those Hourglass lipsticks in Oasis & it was so pale. I have pretty pigmented lips for my skin tone & this color was supposed to be a neutral lip color. It was so weirdly light and waxy on my lips, it just sat on top of them. RETURNED happily.
As a cool toned person, almost every "nude" lip color like that turns orange on me.
I hope Matt White isn’t charging interest! 😂
I also was disappointed with the shade of the Hourglass lipstick I purchased. The swatches online were WAY off.
send matt white his money
if i ever see him again, i'll be carrying $1.80 for him.
What shade of the Haus Labs bronzer was that you used? 🫶🏻
