- Pope Francis is beginning the second leg of his 45th apostolic journey with a 3-day visit to Papua New Guinea. The island country has been preparing for the pope's arrival for months, and Catholics from across the country are now flocking to the capital city where the Holy Father landed early Friday. The last time a pope stepped foot on the South Pacific nation was 30 years ago. Since then, the conditions in the country have grown worse - despite the fact it is rich in natural resources. In a time of climate change and tribal violence, the Holy Father's visit is a sign of hope. EWTN Vatican Journalist Magdalena Wolinska-Riedi has spoken to several locals who are impatiently waiting to meet Pope Francis.
